Distance

Today I visited my aunt and uncle. It was their Silver Mariage. For those of you who don't know what this is, it means their marriage lasted for 25 years. It was a pretty big crowd, lots of friends, of course, and a lot of family aswell.

If you look at The Netherlands, I basically live in the most trendy and fashion-ate part of the country, which is in the West. Now we have the part where they live. This is in the south. A mere 150 km away from us(90 Miles).

The difference was amazing. To me, this could have been a circus, and there would be an overflow of clowns. To them, WE were the clowns.

The way people dressed didn't seem to effect the people at all. Nor did the way they walked, talked and acted.
Okay, this can be good. No bullying, no calling each other names, and so on. At the same time, I wouldn't be suprised if these people would've have seen but one negro, or asian person in their entire lives.
Where I live, the cultural differences are HUGE, but everyone, and everything comes along decent. There are exceptions, but sh*t happens, right?
Now where these people lived, there was no cultural difference. There was barely a chance of discrimination. Even if you'd dress like a fool, they'd greet you just as happy as they normally would've.

It's weird. Where I live, people literally spit on you for fun, and they'd never seen a real negro before.
All because this small piece of land in between us,
Which many of us call...
Distance.
