Description
The Safat are a mystical species of crane that (like the Amphiptere) has developed multiple wings in order to fly efficiently. Strangely, they appear much like smaller avian version of the great wind wyverns, although their 6 wings are so developed that the Safat have become entirely aerial organisms. They fly constantly, and their bodies so light that they float as well as fly. Their eggs incubate within the mother Safat since these birds do not make nests. As the egg hatches, the mother will soar high into the air and the drop the egg. The infant then undergoes a lifethreatening plummet that if an accident were to occur during hatching would be fatal. Although if hatched before the final plummet reaches the ground, the hatchling will instinctively fly upwards much like a dolphin newborn rises to the surface of the water to breath. Although once hatched, the infant is alone for its life. Their only known predators are the Amphiptere, which have been seen in death glides with these birds that spiral to lower and lower altitudes to avoid the much bigger wyverns. Although to their dismay, the wyverns have better control of the air and can funnel the birds into their mouths once they have closed in on them enough.
