Appearance...
- Opinicus appear like lions at first glance, with all but the wings and feathered mane in appearance.
- An Opinicus has sharply pointed ears, like that of an elf.
- Often muscular for their size, though they owe their flight to magical properties from the grand wizards that sired their origin.
Habitat...
- Opinicus have long been native to the plainlands of Nubia.
- Often gathering prides together in large trunked trees, the Opincus use these towers of the dry plainlands as a roost from which to take off to flight.
- Opinicus always have the patriarch male on guard for the pride's nesting at all times. Although lazy, he is incredibly powerful and uses it for dominance over mating rights.
Behavior...
- Opinicus are very aggressive, but social creatures with those among their own pride. Some exhibit playful characteristics, though normally very violent to outsiders.
- Female Opinicus do not have the feathery mane, because it causes quite a bit of drag during flight. Females need less drag to hunt successfully, whereas males will dine on the hunt after the females have killed it.
- Opinicus have an affinity for papyrus, and will steal cartloads of this paper for playing back at the pride's nest. Why they holds such interest in paper has sparked many legends, but most suspect it has something to do with insulation.
