Orcish

The Origin of the orcish stems with creatures that were born in the netherworld of soul experimentation by the demonic races. These creatures were twisted and distorted in form to become the slave warriors of the demons, however not all of the Orcish races agreed to be ruled by the demons. First to revolt was the entirety of the Trolls, as the first creations they were beckoned by superiority over their demonic masters. Their revolution sparked several others in the netherworld, thus banishing all who dared defy the demons into the mortal realms. This was the origin of the orcish races, who now attempt to make a life for themselves as hunted by demons who dispise their treachery, and the mortal natives who either dare not share their territory or dispise the ethnicity of their kind.

Orcish benefits include an increase in stamina, given that their races have developed intense requirements for steadfastness.

Trolls
Troll Name Database

As the first orcish race banished to the mortal realm, the Trolls were quick enemies to the indigenous tribes of elves. Trolls were indeed a deadly enemy, for the powers of night gave their demonized attributes more power, thus limited elves to attack in broad daylight or face the raw power of these usurpers. Most Trolls are fearless, strong, and physically superior creatures. Unlike most creatures of their size, they are also quite intelligent. While overlooked because of their physical prowess, many an elf has fallen to Trolls because of their intelligence on par with their assailants. These orcish creatures are indeed one of the more deadly varieties of the demonized cultures, and their power will last well into the next age.
* Commonly dark skinned and black of hair.
* Trolls are mainly nocturnal by nature, though they are rarely tired even in daylight.
* Native to the Netherworld, but banished and forced to immigrate to Adon. Typically forested regions.
- Incredible regeneration rate at night.
- Adept with night vision, thus allowing them to see as well at night (or dark regions) as during the day.
- Increased resistance to botanical earth damage.

Cave Trolls
Cave Troll Name Database

Cave Trolls are a variety of Troll that retreated into the darker regions of the world because of their passion for darkness. These Trolls have since grown more pale and fiercely grotesque in appearance, thus making them more frightening on initial contact. Most Cave Trolls permanently retain their demonic heritage because of the dark nature in caves, however upon instance of light they are often blinded and will retreat. This retreating behavior leads to rumors that cave trolls turn to stone upon contact with daylight, and though many claim to have witnessed such, it is believe to be only a rumor.
* Commonly pale skinned and black of hair.
* Cave Trolls are mainly nocturnal by nature, often scared off by bright flashes of light and so they generally stay away from the surface until nightfall.
* Native to the Netherworld, but banished and forced to immigrate to Adon. Typically subterrainean regions.
- Strong regeneration rate at night or in dark environments.
- Adept with night vision, thus allowing them to see very well at night or darker regions. They have a slight weakness to light, thus causing a reverse effect of regeneration.

Fire Trolls
Fire Troll Name Database

In the desert, where light abounds, it is odd to see an originally nocturnal creature roaming about the wastelands. These Fire Trolls, so named because of their reddish skin tones, are incredibly tall. Many stand to nine feet in height, with longer legs to keep the bulk of their body elevated above the hot sands during the day. With larger than normal nostrils, these creatures can conserve water very well by retaining nearly every drop from their breath. While sometimes unsavory by behavior, these Trolls have gained favor with the Chaos Legion and often march with barbarians to war. Though with their wide feet and impressive strides, they sometimes leave their allies behind in a charge. Curiously, these Trolls have lost much of their nocturnal lifestyle, but still retain the regenerative effects during sleep at night.
* Commonly reddish tan of skin and black of hair.
* Often wear leather armors, but will wear heavier more durable forms as well.
* Native to the Netherworld, but banished and forced to immigrate to Centra. Typically desert regions.
- Increased resistance to fire damage.
- Increased resistance to the effects of hot weather.
- Incredible regeneration rate at night.
- Increased speed due to longer leg length.

Goblins
Goblin Name Database

Goblins are smaller orcish creatures that have hidden away within the Ginnungagap of Adon, shaded from the world of light by the mountains. While eccentric and somewhat sociopathic as a race, they are unrivaled thinkers and solution makers. Though small for their size, their race has tamed the Cave Trolls and Ogres to their cause for muscle. With such enormous steeds, their brains can be put to use with these being physical capacity much greater than that of goblins. Often seen as intelligent, they offer their services where needed and most often are in dealings with any race that opposes dwarven engineering.
* Commonly green skinned and black to dark brown of hair.
* Often wear dangerous materials, such as explosives, despite the threat they presume.
* Native to the Netherworld, but banished and forced to immigrate to Adon. Typically they live in the Ginnungagap or Alexandrian region.
- Increased knowledge of foreign technologies.
- Easily escape traps and other ensnarements.
- Greedy creatures.

Trogs
Trog Name Database

Trogs are goblin darklings forced further to the will of the demons. These wretched and treacherous goblins were forced into a civil war with their bretheren, but the adaptation to the dark world made their minds far less expansive. Thus the goblins became Trogs, little more than spindly creatures with incredible physical prowess for their size. Most Trogs are reduced to infantry and worker duty for the Dark Elves and Dwarves of Svartalfheim.
* Commonly pale skinned and black to dark brown of hair.
* Often wear little to nothing at all, beyond armament and some metal plating as infantry.
* Native to Ginnungagap, but were banished to Svartalfheim.
- Incredible mobility, but sacrifice to magical powers.
- Adept with night vision, thus allowing them to see very well at night or darker regions. They have a slight weakness to light, thus causing a drop in accuracy to it.

Ogres
Ogre Name Database

Ogres are often regarded as the genetic bastardization of Orcs and Hill Giants. While technically a demonized race, Ogres orginate from the mortal realm. Immense creatures, the Ogres are known for incredible size and bulk thus making them feared targets because they are nearly impossible to slay in a direct hit, even at youth. Most of their kind has no culture of its own, beyond that they share with goblin kin. While large and somewhat problematic, Ogres are often kind-hearted and gentle because of their simple-mindedness. And so, they are easily seduced by suggestion, swayed either by evil or good depending on the source of suggestion
* Commonly light skinned, and rarely have much hair.
* Are often overweight, as they retain nutrients very well.
* Native to Adon, typically open areas like grasslands.
- Very durable, because they are rather pudgey.
- Not very intelligent, though this sometimes allow them to become ignorant to magic spells that would normally have an effect on them.
- Incredible strength for smashing targets.

Orcs
Orc Name Database

The most commonly thought of orcish race is the orc, thus naming the race in its terms. Orcs are not nearly as volatile or dangerous as Trolls, but not nearly as intelligent or crafty as goblins. What they have as a race and budding culture is a grand mixture of both added on to their ferocity and dedication to survival in a harsh, resistant, and unforgiving world. The orc will to survive is so strong that they often rage into combat without fear, and fight to they point that wounds tear open in their skin. Pain is nothing to an orc, as learned through many failed attempts to torture their kind.
* Commonly green skinned and black to dark brown of hair.
* Often muscular, as they are in near constant competition for survival against other races.
* Native to the Netherworld, but banished and forced to immigrate to Adon. Typically they live in Great Adon Grasslands in tribes.
- If wounded, a powerful urge for survival kicks in, making the orc very deadly for a brief amount of time.
- While in a rage, Orc's tap into dark forces for a brief moment that makes them more resistant to their effects.
- Increased ability with attacking because of their battle training.

Uroks
Urok Name Database

Orcs that remained in the Netherworld were renamed by their Dark Lord Orcus. Named the Urok hai, they are typically referred to only as Uroks even by the Larvae demons they serve. Masters of combat, they thrive in the dark blessings of their lords, with the sole purpose of finding and eraticating any of the treacherous breed until they are extinct. Uroks will typically be lead from combat with other races, as to avoid attraction of angelic combatants. However, the bloodthirsty nature of Uroks is such that they cannot resist well the temptation to exact their master's bidding on helpless foes. And so Uroks without a Larvae general will often rampage in tribes around the world, but without guidance their collectives last little more than a few months before they are ensnared by the militaries of the nation they are within.
* Commonly dark skinned and black to dark brown of hair.
* Often muscular, as they created that way under the will of their demonic masters.
* Native to the Netherworld, but scatter about the globe in tribes of a few dozen in number.
- If wounded, a powerful urge for survival kicks in, making the orc very deadly for a brief amount of time.
- While in a rage, Urok's stamina use decreases dramatically which makes them very deadly.
- Uroks have a terrifying roar that incites fear briefly into all who hear it.

2004-07-05 [Benu]: You know what else would be useful to know about orcs... what they are normally....

2004-07-05 [Adaman]: Good idea, how about you get the links and basic information set up and then I'll try to do something about it.

2004-07-05 [Benu]: okay...

2004-07-05 [Adaman]: Thanks, I'll try to get into working on their information sometime soon.

2004-07-07 [Duredhel]: Hmmm maybe you should name this family Greenskins instead of orcs :P

2004-07-07 [Adaman]: Ummm, in order to keep it to a sense of reality and not use a slang term for money, I'll decide to keep it as Orcs for now until I find a better name with which to replace it. Besides, all of these races are essentially Orcish anyway.
