Friskies Fancy Feast review

Even though my husband’s two cats are incredible pains in my butt, I still try to get on their good side occasionally. Lately, it seems as though all the two of them want is food. I try to give them affection, but that generally ends with them spraying on me or my possessions, so I’ve turned to kitty foods and treats in my efforts to appease them and to keep them and their urine away from me and my clothes. One of the better foods that I have found for them of late has been Friskies Fancy Feast Gourmet Ocean Whitefish & Tuna Feast ($0.79 plus tax/single can). 

Usually both cats eat dry cat food as the largest part of their regular diet. However, all things considered, I figured that a dish of “wet food” wouldn’t hurt either one of them, heck; it might even make them like and/or tolerate me more. Additionally, teeny-tiny cans of Fancy Feast weren’t very expensive at the store, so I wasn’t out by much in my efforts to make a kind gesture.  

I know that both of the cats have had Fancy Feast products before, and I remember them liking it. Both of the cats really enjoy treats like tuna fish juice, so I assumed that they would prefer the Ocean Whitefish and Tuna Feast flavor of Fancy Feast that I was bringing home to them. 

If one is feeding their cat Fancy Feast’s “wet food” in efforts to keep their cat healthy and full solely using that product, it is recommended that the cat be fed at least one can of Fancy Feast food for every three pounds of the cat’s body weight. Well, Brillo weighs close to twelve, if not more, and Gollum weights more than half of that, and I wasn’t about to begin to spend every dime I had on his cats. Feeding his cats Friskies Fancy Feast Gourmet Ocean Whitefish & Tuna Feast just as an occasional treat has not hurt his cats in any way, nor has it caused either of them any digestive problems. 

If one’s cats do not finish their can of Friskies Fancy Feast Gourmet Ocean Whitefish & Tuna Feast, the remaining food ought to be refrigerated after it has been opened. However, his cats immediately gobbled down every last bit of the Friskies Fancy Feast Gourmet Ocean Whitefish & Tuna Feast, so we didn’t have to worry about keeping any of it refrigerated until later. 

Ingredients for Friskies Fancy Feast Gourmet Ocean Whitefish & Tuna Feast include Ocean Whitefish, Liver, Fish, Meat By-Product, Fish Broth, Tuna, Natural & Artificial Flavors, Titanium Dioxide Color, Guar Gum, Potassium Chloride, Salt, Vitamin E Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B-1), Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Manganese Sulfate, Vitamin A Supplement, Copper Sulfate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B-6), Dicalcium Phosphate, Niacin, Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin Supplement (Vitamin B-2), Cobalt Carbonate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin B12 (Supplement), Menadione Sodium Bisulfate Complex (Source of Vitamin K Activity), Folic Acid, Potassium Iodide, and Biotin.

The Guaranteed Analysis for Friskies Fancy Feast Gourmet Ocean Whitefish & Tuna Feast states that the product contains a maximum of 78% Moisture, a minimum of 13% Crude Protein, a minimum of 2% Crude Fat, and a maximum of 1.5% Crude Fiber.
As with any edible product, one should ALWAYS monitor their pet to ensure that the treat is adequately chewed. Gulping any item, including Friskies Fancy Feast Gourmet Ocean Whitefish & Tuna Feast or any other edible or non-edible product can be harmful or even fatal to pets. Treats should always be chosen for one’s pet with great care to select the proper size as toys and treats that are too small or too large for a pet may be harmful to them. Pets should ALWAYS be supervised while enjoying toys or treats whether or not they are non-toxic, all-natural, edible or otherwise. Pet treats are NOT intended for children. Fresh, clean, cool drinking water should be made available to one’s pets at all times. Please keep in mind that the best gifts or treats that one can give to their pets is their time, love and attention.

My husband’s cats absolutely loved this food. The ingredients all seemed to be healthy and they didn’t leave even a little bit of the food leftover in their dishes. They still treat me like crap, but they’re cats, not dogs, so I don’t suppose I ought to expect anything else. Because this food is so pricy, I only recommend it to pets as a sometimes-treat, unless, of course, one has tons and tons of money to be feeding their hefty cats expensive foods.
