Third floor
Nova stopped in front of a door. "This is your room, Fern."
Fern blinked. "Oh?" She opened the door.
"Here are the bed room most of the ones to the right are taken already."
Haniko stated.
"Which ones aren't taken?"
Seth asked curiously.
Haniko pointed out several different rooms that where up for grabs.
"Shall we check them out Loshya?"
Seth asked.
Rhett wandered into the hallway and listened and waited for Lilly's particular scent or heart rhythm. Something to give away where she was.
He picked up her scent and heart rhythm she seemed to be in distress about something since her heart beat was faster the usual. She was in Luki's room.
Bed rooms
Fern:
Fern's bed room
"You will look lovely surrounded by the gold."
Nova said almost smiling.
"Thank you, Nova."
Fern smiled at her.
The iron would stick out like a sore thumb. I'll tell Mark to put the cage in the other room with the gunsmithing equipment.
"I'll let you get some sleep. Come Luki, I'll show you your room."
Nova said.
Fern bid the soul-suckers good night and settled in for the night.
Mark can always track me down if I'm needed...
Haniko tracked down Fern's scent to the bedroom."Umm..
.I-I don't know if I should disturb her...."
"Since when where you shy? I barely remember you ever acting this way." Yuki stated as he started knocking on the door.
"Yuki stop!" Haniko demanded pulling him away.
The door opened the exact second Haniko began to pull Yuki away to reveal Fern with curled hair and a long closed robe. "Yes? Is something wrong?"
"I'm sorry, Miss Fern. We didn't wake you did we?" Haniko asked concerned.
"It's fine. I've had a...weird day...So. What did you want, Haniko, dear?"
Haniko smiled as she pushed Yuki more in front of her. "I wanted you to meet my little brother~ and Will."
"Nice to meet you both. Would you like to come in?" Fern gestured to her expansive golden-cloaked room.
"Yes, thank you." Will to Fern as he entered her bedroom.
Haniko and Yuki came into the room as well. Haniko's eye twitched as she looked around. "This...doesn't look like you're style."
"It isn't." Fern replied blandly. "But her majesty insisted."
"Umm Miss Fern, if it's not too much trouble I would like to work for you." Will said to Fern. "And for a place to stay so I can take care of my sister once she wakes up."
"Stay if you want, but I expect obedience of my employees." Fern replied.
"I understand and thank you." Will said as he gave a slight bow.
"Don't worry he's a good kid, plus I have his scent so if he does try anything I'd hunt him down personally. Oh Yuki here, is a good kid too." Haniko added.
"You're....Jace's sister?" Yuki asked noticing the scent.
"Half-sister. And only in blood." Fern said as she sat down and rubbed her temples, her hangover acting up a little.
"Yuki, don't be disrespectful." Haniko hissed.
"It's a reasonable question, Haniko." Fern gave her a forced-looking smile. "I'm just...Oh, don't drink when you get older, Haniko. Just because you can trust people with your life doesn't mean you can trust them with your dignity..."
"I'm not the one who used to work here that shares my last name." Will said as he looked at the ground.
"I know, your scent is less mixed." Fern waved her hand dismissively.
Yuki continued to stare at Fern as she spoke, he know he'd heard her voice before but he couldn't quite place it. "Umm.....Fern....never mind."
Fern raised an eyebrow at Yuki. 'Does he remember me?' "What's wrong?"
"Nothing..." Yuki replied a little unsettled as he absently rubbed his shoulder.
"I thought as much." Fern said, not so much about what he said as his actions. She leaned towards him and spoke lowly and calmly. "You don't have to stay. Kitty let you go to live and thrive, and I'd never let that go to waste, but you don't have to be here if the memories hurt too much."
Yuki's eyes widened as they teared up and narrowed. "It was you!! B-but why did you even do it?! What did you get out of it? And why would you let me live now?!"
"Yuki calm down! what are you even talking about?" Haniko asked as she held him.
"Please. You're one of the few people I never chose." Fern returned to her reclining position. "You were found on Nova's land and she thought it'd be a fitting punishment. My survival depends on her whims, so I couldn't defy her. But," she gave Fern a slight, sad smile, "if I knew then what I did now... Nevermind."
"No, what? Would you have not done it?" Yuki asked as he stood strait and wiped the tears away.
"Not with you. But then, I don't know what Nova would have done to you, so I doubt that's of any true comfort. Just thank Graham. The soft-hearted furball..."
"Nova....Soo she's the puppeteer?" Yuki chuckled to himself. "My sister seems to really trust and like you, so you cant be someone to follow people's orders, yet you are?"
"Yuki....You're too young to understand." Haniko stated.
"You can't say that, Haniko dear. Most people would say that about you, and maturity has next to nothing to do with age." Fern turned from Haniko to Yuki. "I hate taking orders. But other people take mine. And unlike Nova, I am responsible for them. A chain of command is like a row of dominoes. Knocking down the head will send them all tumbling. But only so far as loyalty is involved."
Yuki nodded. ".....Why don't you work with the government to take Nova down?....I mean...if the-th-the games where her doing, then the government can't really blame you."
"The games were what drew her to me, darling. Not the other way around." Fern said. "And I'll have nothing to do with the government."
Numori knocked on Fern's door politely.
"Whoever it is, you might as well come in." Fern said.
Haniko looked at Fern as if to say: "No, No, No, Take it back!"
Will looked over at Haniko and raised a eyebrow but remained silent.
Numori opened the door, "Excuse me, but have you seen... Oh! There you are, it's not nice to ditch your mother Haniko, Yuki."
"I was under the impression their mother was deceased." Fern said cooly, with a tint of suspicion in her voice.
"She is." Haniko said with a hint of annoyance.
"But she came back as an angel!" Yuki said happily running over to his mother.
"An.... Angel." Fern echoed flatly.
"What Yuki said is true Miss Fern." Will said to Fern. "Haniko and I had just got to where Yuki and some other people were when a shrieking creature attacked and then Miss Numori appeared in a flash of light and drove the creature off."
Numori smiled and hugged Yuki, "Yes, I did die, but I became an angel after my death."
"Yeah, and it only took you eight years." Haniko muttered bitterly.
"I couldn't leave until now, because there wasn't a way to leave until after the portals to earth began opening up." Numori said looking at Haniko sadly.
"Well its a little to late now. Dad's already gone of the deep end, Yuki's almost been who knows how many times are family is divided! B-but that all has happened already and it all happened without you! So we will be just fine without you for the next eight years!!" Haniko stated. Turning to face her mother.
"Haniko!! Momma would've come sooner if she could, but she couldn't ........ A-And things... Will be better now that she is here." Yuki stated holding his mother tighter.
"Haniko, I'm sorry about all of the bad things that has happened since I've been gone, I missed you all so much... I promise I will do my best to help make things better." Numori said looking sad and apologetic as she held Yuki.
"At least give your mom a chance Haniko." Will said to Haniko.
Fern kept her silence, completely unsure about this shift in events.
"W-W-Well I don't need you to try and make things better!! In fact... I don't need you at all! T-The only people I need is Fern, Yuki and Will!!!" Haniko declared clinging onto Fern's arm as her eyes started tearing up.
"O-Oh... I see..." Numori said turning away from Haniko with tears in her eyes, "I'll just go and let you calm down." She said disappearing in a flash of bright light.
"H-Haniko......" Yuki turned to his sister with tear filled eyes before turning and running out the door.
"I-I didn't do anything wrong..*sniffles* wh-why does everything fall apart....I tried to keep everyone together bu-but it just falls apart." Haniko cried.
"Just give it some time and everything might work out." Will said as he walked over and gave Haniko a hug. "And if it don't then I will stick by you no matter what."
"...It seems your brother misses your mother, Haniko, dear." Fern pointed out as she looked at the door Yuki ran out of.
"th-thanks..." Haniko replied as she let go of Fern."You're right...*gasp* I have to go!! Will tell Fern about that shrieking thing we came a crossed!!" She quickly ran towards the door wipping away her tears.
"There really isn't much to say about it except its not like your everyday zombie." Will said to Fern. "It had claws instead of fingers and had no eyes, but it couldn't be killed with bullets."
At Will's words, Fern's expression went stern and she whistled for Mark.
Mark was immediately beside Fern. "Yes?"
"New development on the zombie front. They have claws, no eyes, and are impervious to bullets. Haniko said they shriek, as well."
"Graham Slipped me this note about them. Do you want me to send the Grecos to check it out?" Mark asked handing Fern a paper.
"Only to scout. If we don't know their weak point, we don't need to risk an attack." Fern turned to Will. "Is there anything else you know about them?"
"No, this was my first time encountering them."Will said to Fern.
"Graham's note stated that its shriek was loud enough to stun some people." Mark stated.
"Should we have the Grecos stuff their ears with something?"
"We still have ear plugs that Graham stole from that supply truck." Mark stated.
"Clever, clever kitty..."
"Is there anything else that you need me for, Miss Fern?"Will asked looking over at Fern.
"Not at the moment."
"Ok, I'll be in the infirmary if you do."Will said with a short bow before leaving the room.
The door quickly came open as Haniko ran in. "M-Miss Fern...I shouldn't ask this....but Luki's hurting Yuki again...a-and....c-can you.." Haniko just started crying not able to finish the sentence.
Fern was on her feet and rushing out of the room the moment she saw Haniko's tears.
Fern reached her room and waited for Yuki to go in before speaking: "It seems your father isn't very pleased with any of us. It's probably best you two avoid him for a while."
Haniko nodded as she ran over and wrapped her arms around Yuki. "Thank you so much Fern!!"
"Th-thank..m-miss Fern." Yuki said hugging Haniko back.
"...You're welcome, I suppose." Fern responded hesitantly.
Haniko let go off Yuki and quickly went to hugging Fern instead.
Fern blinked before gently returning the hug.
"Thank you so much Fern....but why are you so nice to us?" Haniko asked still hugging.
"It's not kindness. But I can't ask for more loyalty from my employees than I intend to return." Fern rubbed Haniko's back gently and locked eyes with Yuki. "And besides, I wasn't lying. Luki is under Nova's orders just as I am, so he has no hold over either of you. Not unless Nova decides to favor him."
"Nova.....is that scary blacked haired woman with no emotion...isn't she?" Yuki asked he seemed to be rather out of it.
Fern only nodded.
"I-I.....don't like her....why...is it so hard to live a happy life?" Yuki asked quietly as he started crying.
"Yuki...I-It's not that hard...I'll make sure things get better, from now on." Haniko said letting go of Fern with one hand.
Fern let go of Haniko. "Like I said. You two are free to leave if you want. I imagine Graham would protect you if you stay, but that doesn't mean you'll be safe."
"No, I want to stay!...Give Yuki a bit of time I-I'm sure he'll want to stay too." Haniko said turning and taking Yuki's hand.
"I'm....sorry....but I can't decide." Yuki replied no longer crying.
"You can take some time. Some."
Yuki nodded.
"I think Yuki need some rest...I'll show him to a room." Haniko said patting Yuki's head.
"You better rest too, Haniko. It's been a busy day."
"Alright. Goodnight Fern." Haniko hummed as she left with Yuki.
"You've gotten pretty fond of her." Mark commented from the corner he had been 'hiding' in.
"Not as much as you are of the specter."
"O.O ....>___> She's...helpful.." Mark replied.
"She's Nova's spy." Fern countered.
"She can't help that....besides she doesn't help Nova unless she's demanded to." Mark stated slightly annoyed.
"She's also been dead for several centuries and can't afford to be attached to people, I'm sure."
"I-I'm....sure there is something....err She still has emotions!" Mark retorted .
"Of course. Amusement, bitterness, yearning. But by this point, empathy would be worn thin if not entirely discarded. Caring for people can't last so long."
" >:/ She can feel other emotions!" Mark stated.
"She's been dead for a long time, Mark."
"I know." Mark replied.
"And you're young and alive." Fern continued.
"I know." Mark replied already seeing where this was heading.
"And I don't approve."
"Who says there is anything going on between Aspen and I?" Mark asked irritated.
"My leg is damaged, Mark, but not my eyes or ears."
"*sigh*....Aren't we getting off topic...the little children were what started this conversation." Mark stated.
"We have nothing to discuss on that topic. Haniko is in my employment and Graham thought the little one was fit to live." Fern's voice made it clear that Mark had no say in either decision.
"Is it just that she's an employee...or do you have a soft spot for her?" Mark asked uncertainly.
Fern's eyes went cold. "Did you just call me soft, little brother?"
"I'm just worried that this kid is going to cause trouble!" Mark stated.
"She had a chance to leave and she came back. I gave her the option to leave again, just now, and she refused. I suppose your stuck with her now."
"Fine...but if she causes any problems." Mark didn't finish his statement.
Fern raised an eyebrow. "Like Boyd did? She already knows the consequences. And that no one is exempt from them."
".....Fine." Mark replied still uncertain.
"Why are you acting this way, anyways? You've never complained this much about a new employee..."
"I-I've never seen you hug a new employee, before.." Mark replied looking down.
"Awww~ Widdle brother getting jealous~" A voice came from around the room.
"Where are you hiding, pest?" Fern hissed.
"Now, now~ be nice and I might show myself~"
"Or we could just ignore you~" Mark stated.
"That does seem like a better option." Fern agreed.
"Oh so mean~ So I guess you don't care about spies~"
"Not ones we can't shoot."
"Who says you can't shoot them~"
"You weren't talking about yourself?" Fern raised an eyebrow.
"Of course not~"
Mark raised his eyebrow as he turned to Fern.
"And you happen to know who these spies are?"
"Not exactly~ although you managed to get rid of one, with that mutt~"
"Yes, you mentioned the alien, already, now who else?"
"Hehe Well~ The water demon probably doesn't realize that a little friend it made is a spy~"
"What 'little friend'?"
"Another water demon....it claims to be Darryl's protector.....you see the first water demons that existed where healers and got protecting "spirits" some water demons still believe in the "spirits"....apparently Darryl is one of the few that still believe in them."
"So this is a water demon posing as a spirit?" Fern raised an eyebrow. "And they're a spy?"
"correct~"
Mark looked at Fern as if to ask if she believed it.
"How come we haven't seen or scented it, yet?"
"Scent nullifier, courtesy of the governments supply truck~ and the spy waits until poor little Darryl is alone in the ruins, and is very careful about not being seen~"
"Hm..." Fern furrowed her brow in thought. "If we follow Darryl, we run the risk of it finding out and going into hiding entirely. If we search the ruins and call it a patrol, we'd have a better shot, but it's still unlikely, depending on its competency."
*knocking on the door*
Desmond's voice came from the other side of the door. "May I enter?"
"Oooh~ more guests~" The ghost hummed.
"You might as well..."
Desmond opened the door nearly stopping when he noticed that Fern was only in a robe, before entering completely. "Blaze, said there was a battle recently at the ruins, it wouldn't have been a problem, except Nova saw it, and was displeased when some of our own stepped in."
"Is this about Haniko and her brother?" Fern raised her eyebrow at Desmond.
"And that wolf pup she's made her playmate." Desmond sighed.
"What exactly is the problem?"
"Luki found out his wife was here and started questioning one of his man, who was trying to hide her, that's when Will and Haniko came out of hiding. Will pulled out his sword after Luki went to attack Numori....Nova didn't like the interference of the children."
"Those children aren't the type to not interfere."
"We understand that...but Nova doesn't like her shows being interrupted."
"Tsk....great they've been only a few days and are already causing problem." Mark growled under his breath.
"How is one person being killed more of a show then multiple people battling?"
"Is a matter of the two people that are doing the fighting....it still seems odd though." Desmond replied trying to make sense of it himself.
"Seems as though Nova wants this Numori woman dead as much as Luki does..."
"Not exactly~" The ghost hummed.
Without moving, Fern locked her eyes on the ghost, again. "What do you know?"
"Oh just that Luki's little trip into insanity wasn't all on his own...he had quite the helpful push~"
"Sounds like something Nova and her little errand pest would delight in."
"Nova had one of her /other/ pests do the illusions of Numori~ It was slightly out of bitterness that Luki refused to help her."
"She drove him insane...by making him think he already was." Fern murmured.
"Hehehe best way to do it, right?" The ghost laughed.
"So Luki would naturally assume this 'angel' is another mere figment."
"Exactly so anyone who sees it most be a figment of his imagination as well~"
Fern scowled. "Mark."
Mark turned his gaze from the ghost to Fern. "Yes?"
"We can't very well control Luki's movements, can we, little brother?"
"Of course not, at least not without breaking the alliance between him, Nova and ourselves."
"Then that makes our only option to consider Numori a threat. She might not be deliberately dangerous, but her presence is a hazard to anyone in the same room as her or Luki."
"I hope you don't mean that." Edgar's mono-tone voice came from the corner of the room.
"I'm not saying we kill her." Fern replied without even glancing in his direction. "Just that we ought to keep our distance."
"If you'd like we could be a.. as she puts it a 'puppet master' in, just in case Luki starts doing anything dangerous towards you or your people."
Edgar offered.
"If you think that would lessen the risk..."
"Alright....Miss Fern, completely off the record, what is your opinion of Nova & Luki?....you don't have to answer..." Edgar was leaning against a wall so Fern could see him.
"Then I won't. And it would be wisest if you didn't ask such questions, anymore. Especially 'off the record'." Fern advised.
Edgar snickered a bit, it was actually kind of feminine sounding. "Fine, fine~ But you can't keep it hidden, besides it wouldn't matter to her anyway."
"Then it wouldn't matter if we said anything." Mark stated trying to hide any annoyance.
"When exactly did you come in here, anyways?" Fern asked Edgar.
Edgars mood went back to his lacking emotion blank look. ".......I've been in here for a short while.....but I've looked everything over, and got a request to give...so I shall be taking my leave..if that's alright."
"Perfectly fine with me."
"Aaaaand, he's gone.. what a weirdo~" The ghost snickered after Edgar disappeared.
"I've known stranger."
"True~" The ghost now appeared closer to Fern. "So~ What are you going to do with the kids? Throw them out? Lecture them? Kill them? Oh, or will you deal with Darryl first? I'd suggest just getting rid of the lil demon~"
"What? What did Darryl do?" Desmond asked nearly glaring at the ghost.
"Supposedly Darryl's been tricked into believing some unseen spy in the ruins is actually a guiding spirit of sorts." Fern told Desmond before returning her attention to the ghost. "I only intend to keep the children busy. They need the training, anyways, and I doubt they'd keep a distance from their own mother just because I tell them to."
The ghost looked a little disappointed but nodded before Desmond spoke. "And I'm guessing there isn't proof of this?"
"Not at the moment."
"I'll get some~ Oh lets not forget that beast the children told you about~!" The ghost hummed.
Fern grimaced. That is three new multi-person jobs that needed to be done. How could she assign trust-worthy people to them without stretching her reach too thin....?
"*sigh* We're going to be busy for a while..." Mark sighed trying to help think of how they'd handle this.
"Let's start with having the children explain all they can about this 'beast' and show us where they saw it. We need the information and it will give us a reason to keep them busy. Send Darryl as one of the escorts. That way he won't be around to interfere as we search the ruins. Remember: It has to look like a standard patrol so we don't tip off the spy."
"Alright." Desmond said as Mark nodded.
"Mark, you head the ruins. Desmond, we don't know what those beasts are capable of, so make sure whoever you choose is versatile and observant."
"Alright." Mark replied.
"Sounds like a good job for Blaze or Vic to help with." Desmond smiled.
"One of you will have to keep track of the children at all times, if only to be sure they don't lag behind."
"Of course~"
"Is there anything else we need to discuss?"
"I don't believe so." Desmond replied.
"Let's head out then...I think sis would like to get dressed anyway."
"Right, little brother. Everybody out!" Fern made a shooing motion with her hand.
"If I must~" Desmond teased causing Mark to slug his arm.
"Don't push it." Mark hissed before disappearing behind the door with Desmond.
Fern narrowed her eyes as she scanned the room for the ghost. "...If you're still here, get out. Now."
"Awww no fun~" The ghost snickered.
"Not for you~ Now out."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There were three knocks on the door before Haniko spoke. "Miss, Fern I need to talk to you."
"Come on in, then." Fern answered.
Haniko came in with Yuki and Numori behind her.
Numori bowed slightly in greeting, "Hello Miss Fern."
"You don't have to bow. I'm an entertainer, not royalty~" Fern remarked as she continued brushing her hair.
"Oh, sorry, I was just trying to be polite." Numori said with a small smile.
"Nothing to be sorry about~ Now what did you need to speak to me about?"
"...... Something showed up here, just a little earlier today... It looked like a werecat... But..i-it could unhinge its jaw really wide..... It killed Will." Haniko choked out the last part, trying to sound as professional as possible.
"'Killed Will'..." Fern frowned but gestured for Haniko to come closer.
Haniko hurried over to Fern hugging her.
"... The cat boy... He ate Will." Yuki said lowering his head.
Fern hugged Haniko in return. "Has the werecat been captured?"
"No it disappeared soon after eating Will... We believe it might have multiple personalities." Yuki replied.
"I know this might be painful and I hate to ask... But could either of you provide a description of him so that I can have everyone watch for him?"
"Well he looked about ten maybe, when he's in cat form he's black with a purple tinge to his fur just like his hair when he's human." Numori said.
"He's hair was mostly black though...and it was rather unruly...oh and he had an 'Alice in Wonderland' book..." Haniko added.
"I think he said his name was Chaos and Todd said he was a Cheshire cat." Numori said trying to remember.
"At least he's distinctive..."
"Edgar said he was...." Yuki paused questioning if it was best to say where Chaos was, since they might think Chaos works for the government.
Fern raised an eyebrow at Yuki. "'Said he was' what?"
"At the facility....but I never saw him there before!"
"The government has many people. I doubt you've met even half of them."
"Perhaps he just pops up wherever he wants to try and find friends, he may not be part of the government." Numori suggested.
"Taking his side again......*sigh* we don't know enough about him to determine who's side he belongs, for all we know he could be the result of someone trying to make a hybrid.." Haniko said quietly.
"Then I suppose the only thing we can do is keep our eyes open, for now."
The siblings nodded solemnly.
"And hope he doesn't hurt anyone else." Numori said looking slightly worried.
Dean's bed room
Dean wakes up several hours later in a bedroom. "How did I get here?" Dean said as he sat up and looked around the room.
"Hey, good to see you've finally woken up!" Chris said from a chair by the bed.
"Are you alright?" Haniko asked.
"I think so. I didn't hurt anyone did I?" Dean asked as he got up from the bed.
"No....just rocks & some dirt." Haniko replied.
Dean lets out a sigh before looking at Haniko and Chris. "I'm just glad I had caught myself before I lost control," Dean said as he grabbed his jacket.
"Hmmm does this happen alot then?" Haniko asked seeming a bit worried.
"The last time would've been 300 years ago when I fought my twin brother in the underworld," Dean said as he handed Chris the file he had found on his brother in the basement. "That file will tell you a little about my brother."
"Hmm interesting." Chris said as he read the file, Haniko then creeped up and read over his shoulder.
"Me and him are what we are because of the government," Dean said to Chris.
"I see.....Must have been painful." Chris said setting down the file.
"It was and it was even more painful when he escaped and left me behind," Dean said as he made a fist. "Haniko, the little prince that Rhett mentioned is he your brother?"
"Y..Yes my little brother Yuki."Haniko replied.
"I know where he is then Haniko," Dean said looking at Haniko. "He's with my brother and sister at a government facility."
Haniko face turned to shock and disbeleif then to anger."WHY?! EVERY TIME I TRY TO DO SOMETHING MEANINGFUL DO I FAIL?!!...why...I thought he might have been..d..dead but no..I just failed him."
"Don't be hard on yourself Haniko. As much as I don't like my brother,Yuki is safe with him and my sister Raven," Dean said as he walked over to Haniko and put a hand on her shoulder. "They won't let anything happen to him just like I won't let nothing happen to you and Chris."
"I'll get him back...when the time comes." Haniko said with a fant smile.
"It may not be that easy Haniko. Even if I do manage to beat my brother and you do get Yuki back, we still have my nephew to deal with," Dean said to Haniko, "unless Chris can take Sam out then we might have a chance."
Chris smiled. "Of course. I'd be glad to take out your nephew."
"That's good to hear Chris, just be careful though. Sam has control over the lightning element as well as the fire element," Dean said to Chris.
"Whoooo! Sounds fun." Chris said seeming like he was already plaining it out.
"Alright now that that's out of the way we can continue training until we decide to go after Yuki," Dean said to both Chris and Haniko. "Aspen I have another job for you."
"What makes you think I'll take orders from you, mutt?" Came the rasping reply.
"I have two reasons why Aspen. The first one is I could have Haniko eat you and number two I could go to Fern who could go to your master and tell her that your disobeying a order that's given to you," Dean said smirking. "Besides I'm older then you."
"Yeah, I wouldn't brag about that last part if I were you." Aspen said. "What do you want?"
"I need you to give my sister a message," Dean said to Aspen. "Tell her to have my brother and nephew and Haniko's brother to meet me in District Twelve in 3 days."
"Meh. Sounds boring."
"Not if it helps the Ringleader with her problem concerning the government," Dean said to Aspen. "Besides if my brother becomes a ghost you can torment him all you want."
"Hmm..." Aspen seemed to be considering this. "Can I have a little fun while I'm at it?"
"Sure, you have my permission to do whatever to my brother and nephew and you can talk to my sister anytime you want," Dean said to Aspen.
"Shouldn't we talk to Fern before actully setting a date?" Haniko asked.
"Your right Haniko and we might have to get your dad in involved as well," Dean said as he went to the door. "I'll talk to Fern. Haniko, Chris I want you to talk to the Greco brothers on possible spots in district twelve for a possible battle ok."
Haniko nodded but she didn't seem happy with getting her father involved.
"Got ya we'll take care of it." Chris replied.
Dean gives a small nod as he leaves his room and starts to wander around the hideout.
"Don't sweat it Chris ok?" Dean said to Chris as they reached his room. "We all need to work together on this for it to work and this was yours and Haniko's first test to see if you two could work together without me there."
"Where you complaining about me?" Haniko asked calmly but gave Chris a death glare.
"Now now we don't need to fight." Dean said as he sat down on the bed. "So what did the two of you find out?"
Karin chuckled at Haniko and Chris as she walked into Dean's room, "Wow."
"Yeah the bedrooms here are rather...big I think is a word for it.." Chris replied.
There was a knock on the door.
Haniko went and opened the door.
"Graham said you needed to talk to me about something 'as soon as possible'?" Fern asked with a yawn from the doorway.
"I was planning to fight my brother in three days and try and recover Haniko's brother at the same time, with your permission of course." Dean said to Fern. "And Graham probably has already told you about Karin, my other sister."
"Hello." Karin said with a small wave to Fern.
"Hello." Fern replied with a smile that was polite, but not as warm as she would make it if she was completely awake before turning back to Dean. "Where is this fight supposed to take place? And how do you know your brother--and her brother--" she gestured to Haniko, "is even going to be there?"
"I sent Aspen to give the invitation and the fight will be in District Twelve." Dean said to Fern. "I know that he will show and if he doesn't we will hunt him and Haniko's brother down."
"Hm..." 'District Twelve is a dangerous place, and there's no guarantee that Haniko's brother will be prepared enough to survive the crossfire, which could cause her to defect and we'll have lost an asset... Meh. I'm too tired to deal with this.' "I expect you back by the end of the week. You can take Haniko, your sister, and two others with you. Consult Graham for who'd be the best guide." Fern spun on her heel and headed for the door. "Sweet dreams, everybody~"
Haniko watched her leave in aw. "She Is a leader..."
"Thank you Fern." Dean said as Fern left. "The team is here for the most part. Now we just need the final member."
"Who's that?" Karin asked curiously.
"That..would be Miss Fern a.k.a are boss." Chris said.
"I'm going to try and get one of the Greco brother on board with us just incase we need to make a trip to the underworld if our brother doesn't show in District Twelve." Dean said to Karin as he went to the door. "I'll be back in a few minutes, I need to ask Graham something."
"Alright." Karin said as she watched Dean leave.
"I'm back with the final member of our team and guide." Dean said as he walked back into his room with Darryl right behind him. "Now all I need is Aspen to get back with Will's answer."
"Who's Aspen?" Karin asked curiously.
"Hmph Aspen is a good Spy but besides that she's just a annoying bug."Darryl replied annoyed at the mantion of Aspen.
"I heard you just didn't like her because it's your job to annoy people." Chris stated.
"Aw~ What, I have a fanclub now? I'm so honored~" Came a rasping giggle.
"I was beginning to worry that something had happened to you, Aspen," Dean said with a slight smirk. "So did my brother take the invite for the fight?"
"It's four in the morning, Mighty Mutt." Aspen responded. "He's asleep. Kind of like most breathers like you are this time of night."
"*yawn* She has a point." Chris yawned.
"Chris, Haniko both of you go on to bed and I'll see y'all later on," Dean said to Chris and Haniko before addressing Aspen again. "I take it you had you fun didn't you, Aspen."
"Hm. Not really, possessions are too easy when the subject's asleep..." Aspen's voice echoed through the room. "They usually just keep dreaming. But the more often a person is possessed, the easier it is to do so later~ Plus your sister has rather interesting dreams..."
"Dreams, what dreams? You know what never mind you can tell me later," Dean said as he laid down and closed his eyes, going to sleep.
Karin was too tired to go any further than the couch in Dean's room, she laid down and promptly fell asleep.
"
Luki's bedroom
Rhett speed-walked to the door of Luki's room, listening the entire while for any other signs of distress.
As he approached he noticed her foot steps the the door handle turning. Before hearing Luki's voice, it wasn't it's usual charming smoothness, it was low and calculating, annoyed and slightly sad. "Don't kill her though...I want to do that.."
<b>Rhett waited just far enough from the door to not get hit when it swung open, but close enough to listen as he stood there with a blank expression.
"Sir, I respect you, very much. But please let me kill her....I'd hate for you to be put in that position."
"NO! ...I am to kill her.....to free her."
"As you wish sir." With that the door came open as Lilly stepped out and jumped slightly when noticing Rhett. "What are you doing?"
"I was about to ask you the same, Lil. Hiding out in the boss's room? Naughty, naughty~" Rhett teased with a crooked smirk.
"Don't be smarta** you know it wasn't anything naughty~" Lilly replied as she began to walk down the hall.
"I know no such thing! You two have known each other much longer than I've known you~" Rhett walked alongside her.
"I met him when I was nine and he was sixteen!....he's like an older brother."
"Sure he is~" Rhett smirked wider. "Can't imagine why your pulse elevated the way it did~"
Lilly shot Rhett a glare. "Cause I got some.....disturbing news."
"What kind."
Lilly looked around and whispered. "Luki's wife is....here."
"She's dead." Rhett pointed out.
"Exactly...but Luki says he heard her..he smelled her. He also saw..the prince." Lilly's eyes narrowed as she said the last part. "I smell him."
"His and the princess's scent are lingering near the boss-lady's room. They left a few minutes ago, though. With...someone else." Rhett shrugged, not seeming very interested in the whole deal.
"Okay....If we come across Lady Numori..." Lilly looked around and got very close to whisper this. "We are to kill her."
"And I'm supposed to know what this woman looks like?" Rhett deadpan.
Lilly smirked as she held up a locket and flipped it open, revealing a picture of Luki, Numori, little Haniko, Arthur, Lilly & Lilly's cousin. "She's the blue haired woman."
Rhett's eye twitched. "What's the octopus kid doing there?"
"Arthur was with Luki before I was.....I hate to admit it, but he's a friend." Lilly replied putting the locket away.
"Strange taste in friends..." Rhett murmured.
"Yeah, I mean look at you." Lilly snickered before quickly stopping. "I-I err mean...everyone thinks we're friends..."
"Not everyone." Rhett's eye narrowed in irritation as he remembered Darryl and Desmond's words to him, earlier.
"Yeah...." Lilly narrowed her eyes at the thought before shaking it away. "Oh looks like prince is coming to us~"
"For Pete's sake, Yuki, don't run off like that!" Haniko hissed just loud enough for Rhett to hear.
"Why not? Running off can be fun~" Rhett grinned crookedly as he loomed over the children.
Haniko glanced up at him as Yuki went behind her. "H-He's spent enough time running around. Besides children that run away turn up dead~"
"Or disfigured. Or jailed. Or blinded in one eye. But oh, the stories they can tell if they ever come home~"
"That too." Haniko agreed.
"I-I've taken care of myself!" Yuki stated.
"Ha! Barely." Haniko laughed.
"Well enough to survive, it seems. Unless you happen to be speaking with a ghost, princess~"
"No, just a moronic child. Now if you'll excuse us~" Hanikio started moving around Rhett.
"Oh no, you don't princess~ The king would like to see his little run away prince~" Lilly stated stepping in the way.
"Feh. Another family reunion." Rhett remarked.
"But of course~" Lilly replied taking Yuki by the shoulder.
"Hey hands off hag!" Yuki hissed trying as he brought his hand up to jab her under arm.
"Nah,ah,ah~"Lilly cooed quickly swinging Yuki infront of her and grabbing his other shoulder.
"Hey! If you hurt him you're dead!" Haniko growled.
"As if we would~" Rhett snickered.
Haniko was right behind Lilly. "My father can wait to see Yuki."
"I-I don't want to see him." Yuki said with a slight whimper.
"Now, now he is your father, you should listen to your father's wishes~" Lilly stated as she reached for the door.
"Exactly~"
Lilly smiled as she opened the door. Luki smiled as he got up from the chair he was seating in,
"Oh my, it has been far to long My little Yuki~" Luki has he walked over.
"Like you cared, you Ba***rd." Yuki growled and he got a backhand as punishment.
"Children shouldn't use that language." Luki stated coldly nearly glaring open his son.
Rhett kept silent for once, not really caring what happens.
Haniko quickly pushed past Rhett and out the door.
"....do you..want us to get her?" Lilly asked.
"No, let her be."
A knocking was heard at the door. "Luki? May I come in?"
Lilly moved away from the door and loosened her grip on Yuki.
"Of course." Luki replied, not bother to add his usual charm.
Fern stepped into the room. "One of my employees is in my room right now. She is very upset. I'd like to know why."
"I'm guessing that employee is Haniko. She doesn't like the reunion I suppose." Luki replied.
"Of course she doesn't! You're a ba***rd, who doesn't care about his children's happiness!" Yuki stated as Luki raised his hand to backhand him again.
"What do you think you're doing." Fern said in a cold voice when Luki's hand rose.
"Punishing a disrespectful child~" Luki replied with a slight smile.
"A child that is no longer your responsibility." Fern said.
"How so?" Rhett raised an eyebrow.
"Nova gave him to me as a gift two years ago. He was snooping around her properties."
"WHAT?!!" Luki growled turning to face Fern, clearly not happy.
Yuki wiggled free of Lilly and ran to Fern's side.
"Don't like it, Maestro? Take it up with her majesty." Fern turned to walk out the door. "Come along, Yuki."
Yuki quickly followed Fern out of the room.
Luki sighed as he fall back into his chair. His fist came down on a table causing the table to crack. "You two .... are dismissed."
Lilly made a slight bow before quickly grabbing Rhett's hand and leaving.
"....Can she do that?" Rhett asked once the door was closed and they were in the hallway.
"She can...because Luki can't do anything to her." Lilly replied.
"Nova really has that much power over those two? Yeesh..." Rhett rolled his one eye.
"Yeah...... it..is kind of scary really." Lilly replied.
"I can't imagine why. Didn't Luki teach her?" Rhett raised an eyebrow.
"Luki taught her some tricks...but she has so many people under her control with so many different abilities....going against her is suicide." Lilly shaking her head slightly.
"So it's more about influence than power..."
"Well......Nova has to have some power to have so many powerful people under her control." Lilly stated.
"I wonder what, though~" Rhett mused.
"Rhett...please, this isn't a game. Don't try playing around with people." Lilly stated.
"Oh, but Lil~ You know I can't promise that."
"NO, Rhett! Just let this game die. Don't get involved."
"I'm your bodyguard, Lil. I'm already involved~" Rhett gave her a crooked grin.
"Fine then don't get any further involved!" Lilly demanded getting annoyed.
"I'm afraid I have to get as involved as you do, to do my job right."
"*sigh*....Fine..but don't get any more involved." Lilly stated.
"Sounds constricting..." Rhett groaned.
"Rhett! For Pete's sake think about how dangerous it is!" Lilly hissed angrily.
"If I ever bothered with caution, you wouldn't even know my name." Rhett pointed out.
"I know....You need to work on that." Lilly hissed.
"Why? I happen to like myself..."
"If you like yourself.....take the time to protect yourself!"
"But then I wouldn't be myself." Rhett reasoned.
"A little self tweaking is never a bad thing! >:P" Lilly retorted
"Disagree~"
"Rhett.....enough." Lilly said tiredly.
"...Bad day, Lil?" Rhett asked.
"Unfortunately~" Lilly sighed.
"How to take the edge off a long day..." Rhett's lower lip jutted out in an almost-pout as he thought.
"Beating up people~ Spa, blowing something up..." Lilly replied as she thought of more.
"What do you want to start with~?"
"Hmm blow something up~ There are so ruins not to far from here."
"Good choice. The spa can be to give our muscles a break after letting off some steam~" Rhett mused before giving Lilly a crooked grin. "Let's go~"
"Alright~ maybe those old ruins that are all over the place would be a good place to start?"
"Good a place as any~" Rhett agreed.
Haniko's bedroom
Loshya's bedroom
Seth's bedroom
"Wow! Is this really a bed room?" Loshya asked as she looked in.
"I don't know, but I really like it." Seth said stepping inside and looking around.
When Seth got close to the bed Loshya pushed him on the bed. "hehe how's the bed?"
"It's comfortable." Seth said as he sat up and bounced on the bed some.
"Hehehe I think Elden like's it too." Loshya replied.
Seth looked at Elden who had jumped up on the bed and was curled up asleep on one of the pillows.
"I'ma going to look at some of the other rooms." Loshya hummed as she turned to heading out.
"Ok, want me to help you pick?" Seth asked.
Loshya yawned."No I'll be fine... Besides you should catch up on your sleep."
"Alright, good night Lala." Seth said with a smile.
"Night Sethie." Loshya replied as she shut the door.
Seth blushed but smiled as he got in bed and pet Elden as he fell asleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Seth woke up to Elden licking his hand and whining slightly.
"Huh? What is it?" Seth asked sleepily as he looked at Elden who just whined.
*knock, knock* You awake in there?" Loshya's voice came from behind the door.
Seth got up and opened the door, "Yeah, thanks to Elden... I think he may have to go to the bathroom."
Elden whined loudly as he jumped off the bed.
"Hehehe... Okay I'll run him outside." Loshya replied picking Elden up like a baby and taking off.
Seth watched them go, he only went to the bathroom when he couldn't see them anymore.
It wasn't too long before Loshya returned with Elden.
Elden yipped happily and wagged his tail.
"Back already?" Seth said from his spot on the bed.
"Yep! You ready to get some breakfast?" Loshya asked.
"Sure... But where do we go?" Seth asked.
"Haniko pointed it out to us... But I don't exactly remember where it is." Loshya said slightly embarrassed.
"Neither do I." Seth said rubbing the back of his head out of embarrassment.
"Well... I guess we'll find it after awhile." Loshya said happily grabbing Seth's hand and pulling him up off the bed.
"I guess so." Seth said with a nod as he let Loshya pull him up off the bed.
Loshya smiled as she lead Seth. "This should be fun!"
"Exploring is always fun." Seth said smiling as he followed Loshya.
Drake's bedroom
Rhett's bedroom
Mark's bedroom
Fern was walking to her room when she heard what seemed to be overlapping voices coming from her brother's room. "Mark? Is something wrong?" She asked, knocking on the door.
"Everything's fine." Mark said.
"HEEEEEELLLLLLPPP!!!" Graham exclaimed.
"Shut him up!!" Mark growled trying to stay quit.
Fern sighed. "What did Graham do, now?"
"He's a pervert! He..well saw you naked, then Mark, And now Lilly!" Blaine stated as a tied up Graham looked with teary eyes and started whimpering.
"...Alright, let me rephrase that." Fern sat at the edge of Mark's bed and crossed her arms. "What did he do that I didn't already know about?"
Mark & Blaine turned to her. "HOW DID WE NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS?! AND WHY ARE YOU FINE WITH IT? HE NEEDS TO BE PUNISHED!!"
Graham used the that momment to turn into a cat and sneak out of the ropes.
"I don't understand why it's such a big deal." Fern raised an eyebrow at Mark and Blaine. "You already knew about yourself and Lilly, little brother. We talked about that earlier today--er, yesterday. Remember?"
Mark looked down at the floor before looking back up at Fern. "Yes...bu-but he saw you naked...you're his boss...and..he shouldn't see you naked...Besides you shouldn't shrug it off!"
Blaine nodded in agreement before adding. "He should have been punished sooner..."
"It's not like he did it on purpose." Fern rolled her eyes. "You both know how he gets when he's bored. He barged in. He apologized. He ran off. Nobody could find so much as a single white hair for a week after that! I decided that it didn't warrant discussion."
"So that's why he went missing....do you look that bad sis?" Mark with rather big eyes filled with wonder as Graham and Blaine both choked on air.
Fern's eyes narrowed. "Care to rephrase that." It was not a question.
Mark looked down as his arms went behind him, his shoulders raised up and his feet started wiggling togather then apart. He shook his head slightly.
Fern turned to Graham and Blaine, looking no less dangerous. "Is there anything else I need to know about? And dare I ask how this subject came up in the first place?"
"I think it was the new guy Ret?..Rhit?..Rhett? Yeah Rhett." Blaine replied.
"We...were playing a game....I think I lost this round." Graham said before standing up straight as he gave Blaine and Mark a stern look. "Honestly I can't beleive you'd think so little of me after all these years...next time I'd advise looking into things a little more."
"Graham." Fern called for his attention with a cold, stern voice. "What kind of game?"
"Oh uhh well we we trying to see what made the other one tick...while getting under their skin a little...I don't rememeber how that little..incident was brought up..." Graham replied as he started thinking about it.
"So long as it's never brought up again." Fern stood. "Both of you get back to work. And get some sleep, Mark."
They all nodded before going off in different directions, Mark to his bed, Blaine went down the hall, and Graham headed back towards his bar.
Fern started heading for her bedroom, but stopped Graham in the hallway first. "...I don't look that bad, do I?" She asked quietly so no one else would hear.
"Haha I find it silly that you even have to ask, Fern. You are quite beautiful, My Lady." Graham replied with his true smile and a slight bow.
Fern smiled back. "Thanks, kitty. Try not to get yourself turned into a rug, alright?"
"Of course...I would hate to see you sad over something as silly as that. Hehe but you have to agree...Blaine and Mark's reactions where perrfect!" Graham mused.
"Mark's maybe, but Blaine was overreacting just as badly as he was." Fern raised an eyebrow. "Wasn't that a little strange?"
"Indeed it was...I wpnder why he'd act like that." Graham mused before adding. "I have people waiting for their drink, so I must go, My Lady."
"Uh-huh. I'll get answers out of you yet, kitty." Fern warned as she headed to her room.

Lilly didn't look to graceful as face fall open in a smile against her pillow and her bottom stuck up in the air with her arm drooping down. "Mm hahhh hahah."
"...Sleep tight, Lil." Rhett walked out the door.
