How to Write a Novel Syllabus
Beginning, Pre-Writing
1.Ideas for plot lines, or events that you want to happen
a)At least one to start a book, the more the better. It is possible to begin a novel if all you have are characters, but it is very difficult. Any questions or anything, feel free to message me.
2.Forming and perfecting characters
a)Ideas
b)Good characters, not too thin, not too thick
c)Place your characters in your setting but first;
-Have a setting, a good one.
3.Setting of your novel
a)Time period
b)Fictional place, real place
c)Only humans, or ethereal creatures as well?
d)Current events in your setting
Beginning to Write
1.Style
A few more choices before you start typing
2.Grasper of Interest
a)Not overused
b)Not corny, but good, interesting
-Prologue or no?
Writing
1.Putting your thoughts into words
2.Introducing characters
a)Describing characters
b)Where they show up, according to their personality
c)Enough, but not too many
3.Dialogue
4.Keeping the interest
5.Piecing it together
6.Detail
-just enough
7.What to do when you just do not know where to go
-Running out of ideas, and what to do about it
8.Length
-Long enough, but not boring either
9.Story twists, adding elements, MORE INTEREST!
10.Answering questions
-Possibly, if anything is left to be taught, specific questions from students, i.e., writing romance in, or fight scenes, etcetera
Wrapping it up
1.Tying loose ends
2.Resolving conflicts
3.Who did it?
4.Finishing thoughts
5.Single, double, serial, what?
6.Leftovers(i.e. other questions students may have.)
