Welcome to my page, Journey to Health; a page where I will document my journey back to health.

I don't believe that anyone on here knew me when I was a teenager, and therefore I will fill you in. I was in very good shape as a teenager, through semi good eating and plenty of exercise. Over the last couple of years (ages 22-25) I have let those times slip further and further away. This is through my own lack of effort, and nothing else. I weighed myself today (July 12th) and the scales said 178lbs, that is 178lbs for a man of about 5'8. That is overweight, which got me to thinking about getting back in shape. However that was not enough for me, I wanted to get back into shape, yes. I also wanted to do it making a point, I want to highlight the potential of the human body, to show how we are blessed with something capable of miraculous things.

Now, I shall fill you in on how this Wiki is to operate.

1. I shall post pictures of myself (non-naked) every few days, which will provide visuals of my progress. The pictures will come with a short 'diary' entry, describing what I have done that day and my feelings about the project in general.

2. My wife and I have discussed this, she is completely comfortable with these pictures and so am I. However I feel compelled to state this anyway, these pictures are not soft core porn and childish comments are really counter productive to what I am trying to create.

3. Comments are welcome, I am aware of the bad state of my body in the first picture, and observations will not hurt my feelings. I am doing this for two reasons (1) to better my health and (2) to set an example to anyone who has had issues with weight loss and has felt that it will never get better.

I can better my health, you can better your health, we can all do it. Please join me in my journey and never lose faith.

Peace, love and empathy.
Scott Robinson.

Day 1

<img150*0:http://elftown.eu/img/photo/150384_1215915251.jpg><img150*0:http://elftown.eu/img/photo/150384_1215915233.jpg>

So, this is day 1 (July 12th, 2008) and you can see that I am a run of the mill gentleman, somewhat overweight, flabby in the wrong areas and in possession of a few curves.

My weight is 178lbs.

I went to the gym today, cycled for a few miles, ran for a mile, worked with some weights and finished up with a swim and then relaxed my muscles in a hot tub. This is day 1, so I am feeling fine about the effort, and suffering no problems of complaints.

The journey continues tomorrow,
Keep moving forward,
Scott.

Days 2-10
Days 11-20
Days 21-30

Day 33

So, my updates have become a slightly more sketchy, on a regular basis and this will probably continue. With the lack of the laptop and my progress only needing an update every few days I have decided every 2-4 days is sufficient. Today was a very good work out evening, where I did 10 miles on the cycle (with my wife, of course). I then did the weights and then sauna/swim.

A couple of notes.

My bicep weight curling has went up 20lbs in these 33 days.
My chest pressing has went up about 40lbs.
My stamina to do this has improved all round.
I am attempting to tone my body, and is a work in progress.
The sauna has been introduced as a means to supplement the cardio.

I do hope the changes and shake up of routines help to keep my body guessing and aide it in improving.

Side note- My wife is still making progress, and this is a great source of pride for me. She is a second example that our bodies work with us when we give them reason. ^_^

Question for anyone reading....What do you consider 'physical health'?

Keep moving forward.
Scott.

2008-08-10 [End of Eternity]: Hmmm... you have all made me realise that me working at a swimming pool was not the greatest career choice considering I tend to fall over/into something at least three times a day...

2008-08-10 [Azuri]: Heh it happens. I've worked almost nothing but food places and I can't cook for shit.

2008-08-11 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Do I see a 'Farmers Tan'? XD! You're looking great Scott. Even when you don't post anything for a few days, it's at least good to know that you are still working towards your goal.

2008-08-11 [Galatea]: Heheh, oh yes a wonderful farmer's tan...he is so white. Just kidding Scotty! :D

2008-08-11 [xenocentric]: 1. Yes I do have a farmers tan, it seemed the most logical way to be accepted as a southerner.

2. Thank you Tenshi, it is nice to know that the hard work is paying off.

3. Thank you wife, I am pale....but cool.

2008-08-11 [Azuri]: haha psh you don't want to be accepted there, the weirder they think you are the better off you are XD

2008-08-11 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: You're welcome. ^.^! ... Accepted as a southerner? ... I pictured you with at least a British accent... So, wouldn't it be a little harder to be accepted...? Or is that the point of the tan? XD

2008-08-11 [Azuri]: Hah there were so many British people working at my walmart in Warner Robins GA. Its quite common, at least where I was.

2008-08-11 [xenocentric]: I do suppose my accent thwarts my attempts to be truly be accepted as a southerner, maybe I could just sport the tan and smile as my means of communication. It would be interesting to see how long I could keep that up before they noticed that I never actually spoke.

2008-08-11 [EnigmaXero]: LOL!
Well...
I lived in the Eastern part of Tennessee for about two years...and I picked up on their accent almost instantly. DX...Country...
sometimes it's funny to see what happens with interactions. xD!

2008-08-11 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: People might think you're a mute. XD

2008-08-12 [Azuri]: Indeed they might. I've lived in Kentucky for a year and GA for about 2 and I never picked up on the accent. Sometimes I slip and you'll hear me say something southern but not very often.

2008-08-12 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Oh my. That makes me think. I said something very southern yesterday while my husband was pinching my face. I said, "Dhon't peench mah fayce!" I sounded just like my cousin, who is from Kentucky. I was so embarrassed. But at least my husband stopped pinching me DX!

2008-08-12 [EnigmaXero]: He was too busy laughing. xD

2008-08-12 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Waah...

2008-08-12 [EnigmaXero]: ^.^!

2008-08-13 [Azuri]: Azuri's Journey To Health Not much there but it is a start :D

2008-08-13 [xenocentric]: Congrats and good luck ^_^

2008-08-13 [Galatea]: Scott, can we add a link from our page to Azuri's?

2008-08-13 [xenocentric]: I believe we can....Shall do it soon.

2008-09-04 [Ariandra]: I consider physical health to be a state of good nutrition and activity levels, rather than a certain weight or body shape. My husband and I are both overweight, but very active. I fix nutritious and health conscious home cooked meals. Even our doctor has declared that we are physically healthy, and that she isn't concerned about our weight. Our cholesterol/blood pressure/triglycerides/blood sugar/etc numbers are good. That being said, we are still concerned about our weight for the reasons of personal appearance, risk factors for future health problems, and because we want to be good examples to our kids. In other words, physical health is not necessarily aligned with a healthy appearance. I have a cousin whose family doesn't eat any vegetables, and they keep junk food and Mountain Dew on hand ALWAYS in their home. She is slender and fit looking, and her husband is muscular and well toned. However, both of them have blood pressure and cholesterol problems. Go figure...no pun intended. ;)
