K. Friman: Pohjoiset ennustukset 1 review

I'm not sure if this review will help anyone as the book is published solely in Finnish and the writer actually established her own publishing house to get her book published. But I'll give a short review of it anyway.

The protagonists, young teenagers named Vili and Säde meet each other in a countryside of Finland when their families become neighbours. Vili hears a prophecy of things to come according to the Scandinavian myths and suddenly the two get involved in the events of the myth. They meet Thor who sends them on a mission to Asgård to give a message to the other gods. But Odin is missing and Loki has broken out of his prison...

I got the book because the idea and the plot sounded really interesting and they were - even though the book is only the first part of the saga.
The problem is that the book should have been developed more.
I understand why the publishing houses didn't want to publish it until the author did it herself.
Both language and grammar need to be revised and the whole story has a bit too much extra which could have been easily dropped out without dangering the plot.
I don't know what kind of proofreaders she had but they didn't do their job properly and that affects negatively to the whole story.

At the moment the book seems to be an ambitious story by an amateur. Perhaps it could have used a few more extra years to develop a good package worth of some publishing house.
