Species: Sparkbeest

Species Description: A Sparkbeest usually stands at 16 hands at the shoulder, with their heads hanging low so that their ears are held straight in the air. Normally, every 25 years they are reborn through fire and ash, becoming young again. Their bellies are a light cream color, meeting a black stripe at their sides along their ribs that swiftly gradients into light gray fur with a charcoal undertone. It eventually hits the spine where once again it becomes a solid stripe. When the soft fur meets the skull it transitions to the creme again, where the dark ebony surrounds the eyes like a mask. Growing from the snout are twin poisonous quills, freely movable so that they can become completely apart, very similar to tusks.

When angry, a Sparkbeest's ears are folded back and pointed, held erected in a warning, but when they are at rest they lay against the head, almost like a rabbit. Like a parrot, their bright yellow eyes pinpoint with startled or excited and their jaws, which normally look small, are actually large enough to wrap around a human skull.

They have the ability to surround themselves with deep blue-black fire. It burns incredibly hot, and makes up for the creatures lack of claws. This is their primary weapon. Normally, Sparkbeests inhabit the lifeless desert pavements where their paws can grip any surface thanks to extremely tiny suction cups on their paw pads.

Personality: Kesser is a strong young female with a distrust in humanoids, and a lack of company. Although young, she is a master of her own abilities and has encountered many foes, defeating all. She has been cut off from all contacts, living in solitude to be constantly reborn. When she was of breeding age, she had courted a male, and had several offspring. The male, as was normal for sparkbeests, departed. Sadly, she lost her children in a flash flood a few years later. She has not seen another Sparkbeest in over 70 years.

Abilities: Able to climb on anything, defensive poisonous barbs, and her soul fire.

Weakness: No claws, dislikes cold, and water. Although they are sleek and muscular, their bodies can be cut easily enough.
