Loose Girl: A Memoir of Promiscuity; Kerry Cohen Review
When I first picked up this book at a thrift store, I wasn't expecting a lot of depth to the book. I thought it would be one of those "Don't have sex!...And don't do drugs!" Kind of books that lay everything out for you and make you feel a little guilty after you've finished reading.
This, however, was something completely different.
Cohen's memoir of her decent into loneliness and her attempts to fill the void by pushing herself into the arms of one man after another, believing she needs to change who she is to find love and be loved by someone else.
This book related to me because I could understand her pain and her neediness for love. It's very relate-able on a deeper level, and can hold worth to anyone, even if you've never had sex before.
What it comes down to is that this book is about self-respect, and that you need to know that love isn't something you need to be given in return for favors, and that love isn't something you need to pour yourself a mold to fit.
All in all, this was a wonderful book.
