MM in New England, NY, and DC!

A fotonovela of MM's trip with [Paz].

MM was sent to [Paz]'s lovely abode in New England...
And this is what she saw...

Home, Mass-a-chew-shits, New Hampshire, etc.

This was taken on MM's first morning here whilst I was driving to school. A real look into the middle of nowhere I live ;)

Meeting the animals and celebrating my 17th birthday! :B Golly's the dog, Sooty is the black cat and Hercules is the fluffy one.

Mountain DAY! I decided to take MM on my school's annual hike up Mt. Monadnock in Jaffrey, New Hampshire. Apparently it's the most hiked mountain (per year) in the USA. Weird.
But yea, these were taken on the summit where you can see a ton of New Hampshire, Massachusetts and possibly Vermont... depending which way you look.

Shelter Island, NY:

MM got the chance to visit my summer home down on Shelter Island ;) Yay beach! Unfortunately it was too cold and windy to swim.
Also pictured on the ferry to get there and in the port in New London, Connecticut.

Washington, DC:
<img100*0:stuff/MMDC-001.jpg> <img100*0:stuff/MMDC-002.jpg> <img100*0:stuff/MMDC-003.jpg> <img100*0:stuff/MMDC-004.jpg> <img100*0:stuff/MMDC-005.jpg> <img100*0:stuff/MMDC-006.jpg> <img100*0:stuff/MMDC-007.jpg> <img100*0:stuff/MMDC-008.jpg>
MM saw the White House! :O Haha, why all the construction? The Inaugural Stands were in the process of being built at the time. So, MM glimpse a small part of American history in the making. Haha. The tan-ish building is the Treasury Building, where we Americas keep track of our -lack of- money. A street shot as well... see the white pavillion in the background? Someone important was entering the Israeli Embassy o.O.
Unfortunately for one side of the White House, while my camera's zoom is impressive, my arm, alas, is not.

Now, a couple monuments, and various important places of interest ;) I was in DC for a college visit, so we did not do much site-seeing.
The obilisk is the Washington Monument. The domed building is the Capital Building. The tall statue with the Angel on top is a memorial to WWI (if I remember correctly), and is in the back of the Einsenhower Executive Office Building.
Ooh, another fun note! See where MM is taken with the Capital? That's known as the Mall. There, on 01/20/2009, a shitload of people stood watching Pres. Obama be inaugurated! :D Looks a lot more empty pre-thanksgiving season, no?

For privacy purposes my house/town name is not pictured here, neither is my physical summer house :P Sorry but I don't live in one big general place like NYC where I can hide, haha. And I'm very paranoid.
I do live in Massachusetts. Know that much (I know Vorky knows that xP).

Places MM went that are not pictured:
Annapolis, MD
Hartford, CT
Morristown, NJ

2009-02-02 [Teufelsweib]: OMG SO AWESOME!!! thank you so very very much =D *huggles*

2009-02-05 [Paz]: No problem ;P

2009-02-13 [..majo..]: Yo vorkje,

2009-03-03 [Paz]: Que bueno! Tiene suerte usted, siempre he querido ir a Japon! Jaja, perdon, estoy tentada de escribir en espanol cuando alguien usa una otra lengua ;P Es una mal habito.
Adios.

2009-03-06 [Artsieladie]: Hmm... the world is not so small, after all. hehe I live about a half hour's drive from both Connecticut and Vermont. :)

2009-03-09 [Teufelsweib]: sorry paz xD I can imagine it's frustrating when other people write in another language :P I have the same aswell xD

I've never been to either connecticut or vermont, is it pretty there? :)

2009-03-09 [Artsieladie]: I think Vermont is especially pretty. :)

2009-03-10 [Paz]: Nah, a quick freetranslation told me the gist of the convo ;P And I kind of guessed what you were talking about. No worries, I was just being an ass.

Yes, if you're a huge fan of the great outdoors/cold then Vermont is right for you ;P It's a large lot of nowhere (which isn't necessarily a bad thing... and they have maple syrup! :D) Connecticut? Eh... stay away from the cities/urban areas and you should be fine. It's not known for the greatest of cities... New london, Hartford, New Haven, etc...

Personally, I don't think there's much to see in either place ;P But, then again, I've grown up here (and generally New Englanders go everywhere in New England whenever possible).

2009-03-10 [Teufelsweib]: I've been to many states aswell during the 6 years I lived in the USA and I must say that Colorado was the most beautiful place I've ever been, with all the mountains and forests :)

haha :P I happened to be able to read your spanish because it really looks like french ^^ though all romanic languages look alike xP

2009-03-16 [Paz]: I've never been to Colorado, but for me the most beautiful state is New Mexico ;P Though I am much more of a city person. I also adore the Catskills in NY (haha, shout out to Artsie!) for more scenery love.

Really? I can barely read French at all :P I can generally get the gist of anything written in Italian though...
But I completely agree with you. Haha, I'm just an awful French scholar.

2009-03-18 [..majo..]: I cant go to japan unfortuntly :( Money sucks >< Wish we could go back to trading beads and stuff :P

Oh well.... Maybe some other time??

2009-03-27 [Artsieladie]: hehe Yeah, the Catskills, especially in the autumn. I've been to a few places around the country, but I think I have to say, that I liked Hawaii the most, if you go to non-tourist visiting places. It's interesting, it's beautiful, and even though Hawaii is in the tropics, it doesn't get so insanely hot and humid, like Florida, for an example. I guess, because it sits out in the wide open Pacific waters, where the air currents are constantly influenced with little resistance, keeps the weather from remaining the same for too long. It can be pouring buckets one minute and the next, the sun is shining without a cloud in the sky. It's not like here, where we get those awful hot and humid periods, when they can last for days. ;P

2009-04-08 [Paz]: I stayed around Honolulu when I was in Hawaii, unfortunately :/ But I was only there for a couple days on the way back from Australia - it was summer, and I don't remember Hawaii being miserable, so I'll take your word for it ;P I'll have to get my butt back out there... haha.

The weather here (aka. Northeast US) is awful, always. :/ Personally, I wish it would warm up, but I can handle the humidity.

2009-05-05 [Teufelsweib]: ahh too bad Majo :) oh well, some other time then I guess ^^
