Mimus; Lilli Thal review
This is a fantastical story that takes place in medieval times, in a world completely of Lilli Thal's own creation. In this story two warring nations decide to have peace, and King Phillip leave his country to go to King Theodo's. Shortly afterward Florin, Phillip's son, is asked to join his father in Theodo's country. He goes only to be tricked, and his father and loyal companions are taken captive. Florin then meets Mimus, the court jester. After a bout of words between the two of them Theodo decides that Florin's "punishment" will be to becomes "Little Mimus" and become a court jester himself.
The character of Mimus is though provoking and is my favorite, because he is very complex and you can never be quite sure as to where he stands (is he on Florin's side or Theodo's?) and some of the things he says are quite funny.
Overall this was a wonderful book to read, albeit a little slow at the beginning. It's one that I would definitely read again.
