Tucked away in the small parish town of Maurice, Louisiana is a school for incredible people. The only school in the US left untouched after the war finished, it's one of the top schools in the Mystic world. Mystic Academy has an array of students, from vampires to humans that can wield magic.

The Academy was built to not only keep Mystic children safe from the war with the Maliek Hunters, but to teach them to use their gifts and teach them how to survive.

The Maliek Hunters are a large and strong group of humans that were granted above average strength and senses so they could purge the Earth of the Mystics. Created by a human turned Demon, Maliek Castli wanted the earth to be cleansed. One he'd given the Hunters a way to convert others, he had them kill him- even he couldn't be allowed to live in this idealistic world.

But purging the world of Mystics was harder than anyone thought. Their numbers were larger, and they were stronger even without specialized training. But the Hunter's numbers grew larger and soon, the Mystics were being overtaken.

Quickly, Academies were built and young Mystics were sent there to live, to preserve their races and teach them to fight. But the schools couldn't be left unprotected, all the wards and charms couldn't keep the Hunters away forever. So a group of Protectors were formed. Mostly humans with magic, or human crosses, these people stepped forward and guarded the schools. Though not all of them survived, the war hit a turning point and the Hunters retreated into darkness.

Instead of a full attack on Mystics they became secretive and began assassinating Mystics whenever they could.

The Academy is still guarded by Protectors, a place for them to learn their duties alongside Mystics.
