NEVER ENDING ATTIC/DORM ROOM
KILEY HAWK'S ROOM
The room is filled with tiny nooks and cranies perfect for a girl to sit with her back on the wall and listen to the laughing and talking in the halls outside the room, and watch out the window as students run during gym. The walls are a deep blue and the floor is a shiny wood with a color full carpet underneath the bed in the corner. There is a fairly large walk in closet on one wall along with the bathroom and dresser. There is also a huge built in book case to hold the girls many books and trinkits. Over all the room has a vibrant cozy feel.
Kiley entered dragging Tazi behind her like she had since she first meet the poor girl. She pulled her bag from Tazi's grasp and dropped it on the floor un-zipping it and bringing out Oreo's, peanut butter, potato chips, pretzels. She also went to her mini fridge pulling out Raspberry iced tea, her favorite then Tazi and Matt's favorite that she always had on hand.
Tazi walked in and dropped both bags. She sat on Kiley's bed, which had been thoughtfully clean. Tazi saw signs of Matt's care in the room. Even a single red rose that stood in a vase next on the book case. She frowned and stared at her hands. At least Matt saw Kiley. The boy Tazi liked rarely even acknowledged her.
Kiley looked up at her best friend, tossing her her apple juice. "Whats wrong Tazi?" She said seeing the girls utter disappointment
. Kiley's gaze traveled around the room, seeing things Matt must have put in her room while she was gone. Her gaze settled on the rose and it stumped her, then again most things did. She had no idea why he would put a rose in her room, weren't they just friends? Then again maybe Tazi's right like always.
"I had a sort of fling over de summer," Tazi said suddenly. "A boy on de island said he liked me, and we did a lot togeder. But, when he found out what I was, he ran as fast as he could away." She took a drink of the juice. It was sweet and never failed to make her smile.
"Thats swee... Oh." Kiley was about to say he was sweet until Tazi said he ran away. "If he can't love you for who you are he's not worth it. Trust me." She felt sorry for her best friend, but It could have been worse. She knew all kinds of horror stories about love, her cousins Aphrodite and Cupid told her many. That reminded Kiley of her good news. "Oh Tazi! I forgot! I got promoted!" She squealed happily.
"To what?" Tazi asked, genuinely catching Kiley's enthusiasm. It hard not to around the cheerful girl. Tazi honestly couldn't blame her for being oblivious and happy. Her mother was the same way. Tazi's own legacy was one of fickleness and ever changing emotions.
"I'm a Goddess now!" Kiley exclaimed a bubbly laugh escaping her lips. The air around her glowed different hues of the rainbow as her ponytail floated. She laughed gleefully, glad Tazi was catching her happiness.
"Did they give you your own temple yet?" Tazi asked with a laugh. She shook her head at her friend, knowing what a big deal this was. Kiley had been waiting to be accepted for fifteen years, and now the time had come. Tazi could only hope that when it happened to her, she could be this happy.
Kiley thought about Tazi's question her hair falling back to just a regular bouncy ponytail but the hues of color didn't leave. "I don't think so I'm not that big a goddess. I'm the goddess of color." she announced happily. It was huge for her, and she hoped soon Tazi would be promoted as well.
Tazi let out a real laugh this time. "Color? Really?" She shook her head again. "Dat is good, right?" Tazi thought that, as the goddess of color, one would have a lot to do. But then again, only artists would really worship her. But maybe that was enough. Tazi was going to become one of the goddesses of the sea, which would be less exciting to her.
Kiley pursed her lips at Tazi's reaction. "Ah, C'mon I'm important without me we'd be in a black and white movie 24/7." she shook her head the hues disappearing. Personally, she could have been a goddess of something better, but this just fit her personality.
"I am teasing you," Tazi said with a smile. She leaned back on Kiley's bed and watched the girl. "Have you seen your room? It is a color paradise. I dink dat people would be more dan happy to worship a cheerful girl like you."
"Aww Tazi!" Kiley tackled her friend hugging her. "Thank you, that means a lot, especially from such a great friend like you!" she smiled kicking her converse off as she sat next to Tazi on her bed, reviling her rainbow and blue mismatching socks.
"And all de art boys will hang posters of you in deir rooms," Tazi continued after she was released. "And dey will draw nude pictures of you. And dose will go all over de internet."
"EWWW TAZI!" Kiley whined thumping Tazi lightly on the shoulder. "Groooooss!!!" she exclaimed, just thinking about it made her want to puke. It just seemed so weird, but now she had to deal with all of that.
"And Madew will save dem all and he would look at dem all de time," Tazi continued, undeterred. "So will dat perv, Milo." She grinned at her friend. "But dat will not come until later."
"Ugh TAZI! Can we pweeeeaaasse stop with this pervy poster talk!" Kiley pleaded totally disgusted. "Milo might be nice under the perviness though." She looked mischievously at Tazi. "He just needs a strong witch to knock him into shape!"
"Yes, a strong witch. Not a future goddess." Tazi had some strong opinions on Milo. Most of them were completely the opposite of what she proclaimed, however. But Milo wasn't the one she pined after. Tazi just shook her head and rolled her eyes. "So what else did you do over de summer? Just catch up wid your family?"
"Well, yeah, I hung out on Mt.Olympus when I wasn't working at Mystic Pizza. Mom thinks a 'Human' job will build character, and I can't even use my powers." Kiley sighed flopping backwards. "It's actually really cool there." she admitted finally. Then she caught a look on Tazi's face. "You like Milo?"
"Not dat much," Tazi said. She locked onto what Kiley had said about not using her powers. "Well, it could be worse. You could be stuck like dat for longer den just the summer."
"Yeah, I guess so." Kiley turned to Tazi with a huff. "Are you glad to be back? I mean I missed everyone and the school, but I feel kinda trapped here sometimes.." she trailed off on the end staring at the door.
"It is home now," Tazi said with a half sort of smile. "Dis is de place I will stay until my powers manifest."
"Which will be soon!" Kiley said happily, she knew they would manifest soon, even if Tazi didn't have faith in them. "Just have faith in yourself and your powers."
"It is difficult when all my friends are sprouting powers, but I am left behind wid only a remnant of what should be." Tazi summoned the juice from her bottle with her bit of strength, letting it fall back in again. "Plus, I get to watch as your future unfolds before my eyes, but do not get to be a part of it. I never get a glimpse of anyding regarding my own future."
"Maybe Milo has seen your future." Kiley giggled arching her eyebrows and poking Tazi. "But see, you've gotten so much better!" she said as she watched Tazi use her powers.
"Dat one would say anyding to get me in bed wid him," Tazi said with a giggle. She nodded as Kiley commented on her powers. "I was practicing over de summer. Dat is all I got to do, dough. No real job."
Kiley laughed along with her friend. "To True, to true." she giggled just thinking about what crazy things Milo would think up to impress Tazi. "Maybe you could work with me at Mystic Pizza next summer!" she got excited at the thought.
"It would be more fun dan staying here all summer wid Matt. He'll eider be gloomy or PMSey depending on de time of de mond." Tazi knew that she couldn't go home. Maybe spending next summer with Kiley was a better alternative.
"Or maybe we could ALL stay here next summer?" Kiley was just throwing out options now. She didn't know what she'd do when Matt left, he had become a big part of her life. She had come to visit him at the beginning of the summer but then Zeus forbade her from coming back because she had to practice her new powers and didn't need any distractions.
"Maybe," Tazi said. But she shook off the thought as soon as it entered. "We had better get you unpacked," she said instead. "We don't have all night until de big welcome back dinner."
"Alright!" Kiley said happily hopping off her bed and grabbing onto her bag. She dragged it to her closet, threw the door open and disappeared inside. She started folding things into draws occasionally throwing out something she'd brought for Tazi, Matt or just something that didn't belong in her closet. "How do you think this year will go?" she asked from the closet, she suddenly started to get woozy. "Ah,shoot." she muttered
Tazi started picking up things that Kiley threw out and setting them aside.
Without warning, Matt entered the room in his werewolf form and shifted. His shirt was ripped and his pants showed signs of strain. He ran over to where Kiley was and grabbed her arm, pulling her away from the closet and towards the bed so she could pass out in safety.
Kiley, not seeing Matt burst in because she was already reaching for a pillow so when she face planted she wouldn't hurt herself and look even more like an idiot. Her fingers just missed the edge as her vision blurred. Last thing she felt was Matt grabbing her.
Tazi ran forward to help her best friend, but the look on Matt's face made her question that decision. She just stood back out of the way.
Matt lay Kiley softly down on the bed, brushing her hair from her face as he did so. He sat on the bed for a moment and watched her, his head tilted slightly. Matt completely ignored Tazi, as he knew she would just hear what happened from Kiley when the girl awoke.
A few minuets passed before Kiley's eyes fluttered open. "Oh! I'm so sorry! I thought that wouldn't happen now that I'm..." she trailed off as she saw Matt above her. She felt the blood rush to her cheeks in a blush. "Oh, Matt. Hi." she smiled up at him not wanting to sit up fast, hit him in the head and all only to faint again like she did that first time.
Matt smiled down at her and helped her to sit up. He put a pillow behind her. "Tazi, water." Tazi fetched a water and tossed it to Matt, who deftly caught it and opened it, offering the bottle to Kiley. "Here, that'll make you feel better."
"Oh, Thanks. You know, you guys have this down pat. I should really stop fainting as often.." Kiley joked taking the bottle from Matt and drinking from it, the color returning to her skin.
"You should stop traveling with Hermes," Matt said with a frown. He checked her eyes and made sure her vitals were still okay. "You may be a goddess in training or whatever, but even you can take a hit."
Kiley pursed her lips, wearing her signature You did not just do that. look. "Remove the In training or whatever part would ya'?" she hoped he would take the hint and she didn't have to explain it all. She would have gotten up and gotten back to unpacking but Matt was sitting on the edge of her bed examining her and blocking her exit. Looking up at Matt wasn't very good for Kiley, she had a huge urge to kiss him. So, being the impulsive girl she always was, she did. Leaning forward, Kiley, touched her lips fleetingly with Matt's before she pulled back shocked. She never thought things through and it usually got her in trouble just as it did now. Her fingers touched her lips shocked, confused by how good that had felt. It was a good kiss, a very, very good kiss.
Matt sat there as he absorbed what had just happened. He smiled at her suddenly. "Goddess of what?" he asked kindly, thinking it better not to mention the kiss or the look of shock and confusion on Kiley's face. Okay, so he wanted to take her right there, but with his beast wanting free right then, he would wait until after the full moon to express it.
Tazi slid out of the room, grabbing her bag as she went. She smiled to herself and headed out to Never Ending 5th Hall.
"Huh? Oh color." Kiley snapped out of her little world when Matt asked her. She had been trying to figure out what possessed her to do that, then again it was probably what she was. Being a shape shifter her emotions ruled her like they ruled any other animal. It was being a Goddess that brought out her bad side. Every Goddess had a huge temper, some had a ego to match. Kiley's temper was enormous and uncontrolled so if you made her bad list, which rarely anyone did since she was so oblivious, you were digging your own black and white colored grave. Kiley could see that Matt was avoiding mentioning the kiss or acting upon it, she was thankful for that. She bent her knees, scooting her butt and pushing with her feet until she was sitting up. She had her hands behind her on the bed to stabilize her. It was to awkward to just lie there. She saw Tazi leave and want to stop her badly, she didn't want to be alone with him after what just happened in fear that other things might happen. She didn't call after her though because she caught Matt's eyes looking at her and suddenly got lost in them.
Not knowing fully how to proceed, Matt figured it best to let Kiley have some space. "I'm sorry. I'm not too good at all of this. I don't want to push you because...well...that whole full moon in two days thing." He was rambling. Why was he rambling? Matt felt like an idiot. Kiley must think he was being spastic.
Kiley didn't know what Matt was doing, he was always the calm, cool headed one, unless it was a full moon. Then again, it almost was, as he mentioned. "Matt..." She said hoping to cut off his rambling as she grabbed his hand. "You can't make me do anything, we both know I'm not one to be made to do anything I don't want to." she giggled but stopped and looked up at him.
"I know. You could probably blast me into the other room." Matt ran his free hand through his hair. "And leave me laying in a pile of rubble. Which would be pretty painful. Painful enough to make me rethink what I was doing." He really needed to shut up. Matt knew that the word vomit came from nerves. "Not that I would try to do that." Yeah, he was losing it.
Kiley stared at Matt, he was acting seriously nuts. "Matt.." she said staring at him. "Be quiet, you would never do that and I wouldn't hurt you. I most likely would just leave you hanging in Mid air, but only because I forgot." Kiley laughed, she new she was a bit of an air head and she didn't deny it. She looked closer at him. "Are you nervous?"
"Yes," Matt said without hesitation. "Bad timing and all that." Nevermind that his bestial instincts were taking over and he kept imagining Kiley in her werewolf form.
"Maybe we should get ready for the dinner. Okay?" Kiley decided, thinking Matt obviously needed time to cool off. He usually had a bit more control then this, she didn't think kissing him would cause this much of an effect on him, then again she usually didn't think at all.
With a nod, Matt stood and gave Kiley a smile and a wave as he exited the room and went out to the hall.
Kiley smiled and wiggled her fingers in a wave to Matt as he left. Once he was gone she let her head fall onto her knees and let out a huge sigh. She got off her bed and went over to her currently messy closet. She started cleaning it. As she was cleaning she found a turquoise ruffly dress that came down to just above her knee's. Grabbing it she disappeared into her bathroom closing the door behind her, stripping and stepping in the shower. After a while the sound of the running shower stopped and Kiley started getting dressed. Once she was dressed she opened the bathroom door to let out the steam the now rolled out onto her wooden floor. She blow dried her brown hair before quickly braiding it into a French braid. She slipped and sliding on the damp floor of her room as she went over to her closet. She took a pair of prism studs and put them in her ears before shoving white semi-fancy flip flops on her feet and leaving the room to go help Tazi get ready. Alright, mostly to gossip, she admitted to herself as she disappeared out to Never Ending 5th Hall.
Kiley shot back in, dived in her closet and came out victorious with a pair of killer black stilettos. She then shot back out of her dorm to the hall.
Shuffling in sleepily, Kiley kicked off her shoes. She crawled into bed leaving her dress on, and fell asleep quickly.
