Odd and the Frost Giants review
by Neil Gaiman
This is a fairly simple tale of a young Norse boy named Odd who helps the Æsir against the Frost Giants. I knew it was meant for young audiences, and I expected something like
The Graveyard Book. However,
Odd and the Frost Giants is meant for a much younger audience. The story is OK, but the plot is very much transparent. There's very little character development, but that's to be expected in something like this. Gaiman does a pretty good job making the tale feel like an old folktale, or something from the sagas. Otherwise, though, it's not particularly interesting.
