Of Endings
She dreams of white gloves
and silk top hats.
Of coat tails
and silver tipped canes.
She dreams of Endings.
In green fields under gray skies
She watches.
Takes in the dark suit,
feels his hand over her chest.
Forever is long enough,
and as moments slip she knows
of the loss.
Arsenic laced promises
with flashing mad smiles.
He takes her.
And from that sky
they plunge.
Train cars careening,
falling down to land
in human shaped holes.
In broken time
he laughs as if it's alright.
She laughs because it isn't.
