Mistborn book 1: The Final Empire,
Author: Brandon Sanderson

I love the depth of character and detail put into the story. I don't tend to like first person stories but there is enough detail and third person views to keep me turning the pages.

Vin is a born a skaa (slaves who have been beaten down for the last century) She has the ability to use her "Luck" to sway people to do as she wants but it runs out and she can't explain it. When brought into a gig she uses her luck on one of the Lord Rules men and they go on the hunt for her. Vin is recruited by Kelsier and his crew for a Huge "Job". Kelsier tests Vin and they find that she can use a power that only nobles (or half breeds) have She can burn metals to gain her strength, push or pull on metals, she can also use them to sway peoples moods. Wanting to learn more she finds herself able to trust people for the first time in her life.

The "Job" is to over throw the Final Empire and the tyrant Lord Ruler.
This seems imposable because nothing has been able to kill him in over thousands of years. Vins part in the job is to infiltrate the nobility and spread rumors to cause a house war.

Will the Crew win? Will the Skaa rise up even though they have been beaten down for a century? How will they overthrow the Lord Ruler or better yet kill him? What's more how will the Crew dodge the enhanced soldiers of the Lord Ruler without getting killed themselves?



Mistborn book 2: The Well of Ascension,

With the Lord Rulers last words warning of impending doom Vin is convinced she is the real Hero of Ages. The Mist has been appearing in the day and hurting and killing people. Vin in worried that The Mist is really the Deepness that the Lord Ruler had "Defeated".

Civil war has broken out and the Elend has become King of Luthadel but has not been able to gain any ground in his parliament (that he had created).

Another army of monstrous creatures called koloss are days out and there is nothing Vin or Elend can do.

Zane (a mistbourn) has shown up and has started sparing with Vin and gaining her confidence even though he is obviously from one of the enemy camps.

A Spy is suspected within the group.
