Chacater Past:
Nansi Ravenwolf was never always named as she is today. Nansi use to be called Andrea Thomason, a muggle born witch born to Abby Lynn, a museum researcher, and Jacob Thomason, a local government official in the United States. Nansi had legally changed her name so that she may have some sort of double life, the life of a witch and the life that her parents believe she is living. When Nansi was younger, her parents sent her to stay the summer with relatives in England. While there, she had recieved her letter. Confused, she had shown the letter to her uncle who told her that he was married to a witch, but that his brother, her father, didn't know and her aunt wished to keep the knowledge to a select few. Her uncle called her father, telling him that he wished to send Nansi to a private school for the gifted which her father agreed to. This was the start of Nansi's journey and education in the magical craft. Over the years at Hogwarts, Nansi picked up skills both magical and non-magical. After Hogwarts, Nansi went out and joined her mother as a researcher at the museum her mother was working for. When she was invited back to Hogwarts to teach Muggle Studies, it was then that she legally changed her name to Nansi Ravenwolf, but uses her birth name for her parents, who think that she is a private researcher for a private estate in England, so that she could have a home away from Hogwarts where her parent think she is living fulltime.
