I thought it was amusing how much more “lovable” the character of Professor Snape seemed to be in the “Harry Potter” movies than he was in the books. While I never really had much in the way of fondness for Professor Snape, I know that one of my girlfriends did, as she was utterly obsessed with all things Alan Rickman. I should have known what my most recent birthday present from her was before I even opened it, her non-stop giggling out to have been a dead giveaway.
Of course, my friend was helping to expand my collection of the “Harry Potter” figures that I own and have on display, and so she gifted me my very own Neca Harry Potter Series 2 - Professor Snape figure. While I was pleasantly surprised to find myself in possession of my first Professor Severus Snape figure, I was not surprised that it was from Neca; my friends and family all know better than to buy me figures from Mattel. I’m difficult to please when it comes to action figures, and I’ve no problem holding out for Neca to put out good ones rather than rushing out to buy figures from Mattel that I’m bound to be unhappy with.
Firstly, the Neca Harry Potter Series 2 - Professor Snape figure LOOKS undeniably like Severus Snape. Measuring in at just over seven-inches-t
all, with pointed, dark features, the Neca Harry Potter Series 2 - Professor Snape figure is dressed in standard Hogwarts tradition, which includes a long, flowing robes (removable), black pants and shoes to match, a white shirt, and a black, high-collared shirt that mostly covers the white undergarment in its entirety. Snape’s hair is long and dark as well, his eyes are narrowed beneath his eyebrows that accurately match his hair-color, and his cheeks are slightly hollowed. All-in-all, the Neca Harry Potter Series 2 - Professor Snape figure looks pretty unhappy, which makes this sculpt a great likeness.
As far as articulation goes, the Neca Harry Potter Series 2 - Professor Snape figure is pretty pose-able. Points of articulation include his neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist and ankles.
Accessories for the Neca Harry Potter Series 2 - Professor Snape figure include Professor Severus Snape’s wand, which fits nicely in his hand for brandishing it while dueling. The wand has decent detail, but is nothing too special really. The Neca Harry Potter Series 2 - Professor Snape figure also comes with a base for display, though the figure balances quite well on its own for most poses.
Professor Snape is an integral part of the “Harry Potter” series, and probably one of the most important characters when everything is revealed. Therefore, for serious collectors and fans of the series, I definitely recommend the Neca Harry Potter Series 2 - Professor Snape figure for play and/or display!
