We all were, in a way. I, for one, avoided the thing I was supposed to protect, ignored the things that were essential for my survival and noticing the things that were not, portraying insanity itself by trying to promote a hopeless cause over and over again, expecting a different result each time. How could I not see this? I, Carmonolon, the great Warlord, I who have hundreds of armies at my command, I who reign over millions of soldiers, armed to the teeth, under my domain in the military force, how could my mind not grasp such a simple task as the one set before me?
And for my lack of insight I have suffered. What the others are foolish for, I will let them tell you themselves.
