Two Hours Later

Some time after Marlayl left Zhenjai's side when they reached the Elven city, he headed towards the castle doors in search of his father. "Father!"

When he left Zhenjai's side, she ambled off to go find something more entertaining to do than just sitting there.

After laying the child down in a crib, Malias left the room when he heard his son beckon him. He came into the halls and headed for the throneroom at the main enterance to the Sar'dan castle. Halting right when he noticed his son coming his way, he folded his arms in wonder on why Marthril seemed so uneasy. "What is the matter?"

"It's Morac. He attacked us in the forest..." Marthril replied when he came to a stop and took a deep breath. "It's the first we've seen him since..."

"The night he destroyed that city...when he made us believe it was Amrevar..." Malias peered up at the cieling in thought. "This isn't good..." Then he returned his gaze to Marthril. "Is everyone alright?"

Marthril gave a brief answer despite the fact of what happened to him; he intended on leaving that fact out of the conversation. "Yes..."

"Good... I think we should prepare for a possible attack..." Malias slightly turned towards the hallway. "Help me gather the loyal...We shall need them."

Marthril nodded in agreement before he left the kingdom and Malias entered the halls once more.

Ar'rias came into his father and mother's cavern where the eggs rested and carefully placed THeria on the ground before gently landing. "You can open your eyes, young one. Things sgould be alright for now... I sense your fear. Why are you still affraid?"

"I'm scared because I don't know what will happen to Marthril and Uncle Malias if Father or Uncle Morac attacks Sar'dan..." Theria sat in a corner while wrapping her arms around her bended knees that came up to her mouth.

Ar'rias came over to her and calmly rubbed his snout on her right cheek. "All will be alright, dear one. I am sure they are capable of defending themselves... but I still fear for Malias... I have this sad feeling that he won't last much longer..." He grew angry with himself when he saw a tear shed from his rider's eyes. Then he nudged her knees. "There, there. Don't cry now... I'm sorry for being negative... but you still have to prepare for these things... even when you dislike it. Now...how may I cheer you up, hmm? What would you like to do that will make the passing time worth while?"

"Um...I don't know..." Theria said while looking up at Ar'rias.

Ar'rias sighed. "Maybe you should rest... It would be best. The nest is soft enough for you, little one."

"Okay..." Theria moaned before carefully getting up. she made her way over to the nest and laid down on its comfortable bedding, keeping a good distance from the eggs. She yawned before closing her eyes.

"Ar'rias glanced over at her and gave out a puff of smoke. "Don't worry... I'll look after you."

Zhenjai arched toward the cave, and landed softly on it's edge, folding her wings, and walking in. "Hello, brother."

Ar'rias peered over at Zhenjai and smiled. Greetings.

Zhenjai looked to Theria. "How'd the flight go?"

Well I suppose... At least Theria didn't scream. Ar'rias laughed. She's resting now. He turned his eyes to Theria. She needs it... We arrived late.

Zhenjai nods.

I am going to stay so I can keep an eye on her. You can stay if you'd like, Ar'rias said with a smile.

Zhenjai smiled back. 'Thanks, but I think I ought to go se what Marthril is up to now...I shall see you shortly?'

Ar'rias nodded, Alright.

Zhenjai bid her brother and his Rider a farewell, then leaped out of the cave.

Ar'rias smiled. Farewell.

Zhenjai flew to the castle, and landed softly, going toward the halls....

The Battle:

At Midnight...

Amrevar came out from the forests of Sar’dan upon his steed Deathrider; his face stilled with grief and shame as he peered down away from the great castle of the city. His army of Hert’zar raced passed him with the intentions of destroying Sar’dan like they did to Elithian. The only one who did not wish to kill was Amrevar, for it was something he despised the most at this moment, yet he knew he had no choice; his father left him no control. He led his horse into the overrun city, hoping that he might just lose this fight. Malias left his castle with shining blade held in one hand; his face was frightened for his city. He wasn’t sure who was conducting this plot until he saw the face of Amrevar and nearly gasped. He saw how Amrevar was feeling at the moment and he knew that his brother didn’t wish to be doing this. Seeing his brother, the Dark Lord looked away from him in sad thought. There was a feely of pity growing in Malias’s heart. He hated seeing Amrevar like this, but then the Elven Lord’s fears arose when he saw the Dark lord hold his head in pain. “So this is what he meant…six months ago… No…This can’t be… How is… Amrevar!” Hearing his brother’s voice, Amrevar looked back over at Malias through eyes of the agonized. He didn’t say a word, only gazed at Malias with wide eyes of someone who became stunned after hours of ceaseless pain.

Hert'zar flooded into the city, cutting through at whatever they found. Many carried torches recently used to burn down houses. Luckily, villagers escaped to take refuge in the castle just in time. Malias had warned them ahead of time, for he knew he had sense the enemy drawing nigh.

Malias knew he wasn’t supposed to fight due to the pains he had to deal with now and then, but so it would seem, he had no other choice even though he had a great disadvantage against his brother. He watched sadly as Amrevar writhed in pain while shadows engulfed him, creating a Hert’zar shadow form that growled in the agony until Dravescar took over. A large, black fire sword appeared with in the giant being’s hands and was readied for battle. When the Dark Lord’s eyes became white, all that was green with life withered and died allowing the land to became a gray crag that became pressed underneath the shade form. The dark blue sky became a brown that caused the moon to become a light auburn sphere in the sky as the stars vanished out of sight. For some time, the being stared at Malias as Dravescar tried to take complete control over his son; Amrevar could no longer be sensed. Sapphire lightning flashed, Malias thought he could see the fiendish smile upon his deranged father’s face. Dravescar’s eyes were wide with insanity that pierced right through Malias causing terror to shake the Elven Lord to pieces. “Amrevar!” Malias shouted with dread for his brother.

“Amrevar… is no longer here…” Dravescar’s dark voice laughed, it was full of sinister madness that brought hopelessness to Malias’s fearful heart. He never saw so much evil in one place and he never felt so terrified of his father’s power that left him standing nearly paralyzed. When Dravescar brought his flaming sword down upon Malias, the Elf quickly brought up a spell.

“Clen A’ra’!” Malias created a massive shield of light that blocked his father’s attack, but Dravescar pushed his sword upon the shield trying to gain some kind of advantage. The Dark Lord began to pound on the shield trying to get passed it, but it still held strong even though Malias was swiftly running out of energy to keep it up. Soon, Malias couldn’t hold it anymore and when Dravescar pounded, the veil faded and Malias was thrown back against the castle wall causing pain to rush through his entire body, he practically passed out.

With a titanic report; a tower far above ejected flame and millions of shards of glass...preceding the exodus of an emerald beast. Erador locked his wings and plummeted, darting out of the way of flaming javelins as they splashed their oily fires against the white marble of the castle. "Ready yourself for death you dark fiends!" the dragon howled, more or less a guttural roar as he shot spheres of firey missles from his nostrils...blasting away at the wretched Hurt'zar army.

Charred bodies flew from shallow, blackened craters in the already ruined streets...heralding the approach of a wrathful being. A chance fireball ejected from Erador's maw sailed through the rubble of Sar'dan and found its way between Dravescar and Malias (to which their conflict the dragon was currently unaware). His mind focused instead to bludgeoning and sweeping the deathly armies with his tail...destroying them with his talons and sheer power...incarcerating them with his scalding breath. "ERINDOR!" the dragon cried at length, ripping through his rider's mental boundaries. There was no reply...

Illatrius! I need you!! Malias cried, doing his best to stand up. Most of the energy in his body was ruthlessly drained.

I'm on my way! the dragon cried. Down from the sky, she roared heavily at her rider's attacker. She bent back her neck to bring up enough light power to surge at the enemy, which electrified him with great force.

"You cannot destroy me!" Dravescar screamed at her. He fought against the pain and swiped at her with the sharp claws of his free hand.

Illatrius howled in pain and made landing on the ground; her scales torn, allowing silver blood to trickle to the earth.

At last, Amrevar broke through and siezed control even though it resulted pain to be ushered into his mind. The monster fades away like dust, leaving only the Dark Lord to pass out among the ground. Darkness of the skies faded, leaving it all to be a night of the norm.

Malias crawled over to Illatrius and used a small amount of power to heal her wound good enough that it decreased in size. He had to reserve his strength. He watched as Amrevar awoke. Alarm hit him, for fear that things would get worse, but his thoughts decieved him when Amre4var called out his name. "Yes?"

"Take me back to my kingdom, Malias... I have a favor to ask of you... It's for your bene...fit, not mine," the Dark Lord said weakly.

Malias turned to Illatrius with a sigh. "Take me and Amrevar to Mavenethar... I need your help."

NEVER! was Illatrius's reply. Never shall I aid one as foolish as Amrevar! Never! Have you forgotten what he did to you?

No... I haven't... but I believe the favor I intend to complete is for the good of the land... Have a heart. Malias leaned back against her belly.

No! I've done so much for that cruel being!! It's about time that the tide has turned! Illatrius roared.

Malias stared at the ground. Illatrius... just one last time... Please... He could feel the intensity of her angel through their mental link.

Very well... One last time! My revenge against him has not yet been satisfied, so, I leave against my will. Illatrius bit Malias's shirt and lifted him onto the sadlle of her back.

Malias sighed again. "Amrevar... we can do that. When we get there, tell me what you want."

Amrevar nodded before he climbed onto the dragon's back. "Thank you."

Illatrius lifted off into the sky.

Just when Illatrius left, Zello'rox touched down on the earth with the merciless Morac seated in the saddle with a readied sword in hand. His eyes were heavily fixed upon the rampant battle that seemed ceaseless as the flow of Hert'zar troops kept coming. This battle seems to bode ill fortune for Sar'dan... Shall we make things worse for them?" A dark grin played acrossed his lips. He could feel the ground rumble, caused by the great dragon who folded his immense wings at his sides.

Zello'rox roared into the night. Indeed, we shall... Perhaps we can at last dispose of either Malias or Erindor....

Morac nodded. Whoever we encounter first...

"ERINDOR!"...the name cried out explosively through Erindor's mind. He however did not flinch, and instead rose away from the sleeping form of his beloved, Sincalia.

"My apologies, Erador...I assume there's something awfully wrong going on in my absence?" Erindor said carefully, finding and fitting himself into his clothing. "Sleep, my darlin'...I love you," Erindor said, stroking Sincalia's cheek before rushing from the cave. Erador met him halfway to Sar'dan...and so they flew into battle after (rather hastily) fitting Erindor into battle armour with weapons of course.
