History

<img:stuff/EGFdiv216.jpg>

Morning broke through the shades of his room, a gentle moan coming from underneath the thick covers that were pilled up in the middle of the room and then the moved, revealing a thin arm first, then Haruka pushed them passed his head as he rubbed his eyes. He let off a few blinks as he pushed himself up to sit, looking around at the mess his room was, his clothes piled up in a corner for the new day, his winter duffel coat sitting beside them too. He stood up and gave a long stretch, his t-shirt that he wore sliding up a little to show his belly button.

He moved through the house, stepping outside into the courtyard of the Hyuuga branch house, the cold air licking at his cheeks. Snow covering the training area with a beautiful coat of white while the garden had been kept immaculately heated to make sure that the snow did not damage any of the plants. He entered into the private bath, smiling as he saw steam rising from it. Trust his mother to be able to predict when he would be up in the morning. He slipped his pj’s off and quickly slipped into the water, giving a sigh of relief as the hot water was a welcome change from outside.

After cleaning and drying himself off he headed back to his room and quickly got changed and pulled the heavy coat on, enjoying the feel of the soft fur around the collar and hood against his skin for a second before he heard a voice calling his name. He headed out and quickly met his father, the head of the Hyuuga household. “Morning Father.” He said quietly, his smile small and delicate on his lips as he listened to his wised fathers advice. Not long ago Haruka had just passed the exams in the Academy and was now a full blooded Genin Ninja, he still couldn’t believe that he had passed with his first try even though others considered that he had an easier time with it being a member of the Hyuuga family. His father, before sending him out to the Academy to be selected into a squad, handed him something, wrapped within simple brown parcel paper with a silver string attached. “Don’t open this until you leave ok Son.”

Haruka had did what his father had told him, walking through the snow filled streets of Konoha, the Village hidden in the Leaves, with the parcel clutched within his fingers. It was still early, far too early to be heading for the academy but he was so excited and anxious to know whom he would be working with. Inside the grounds of the Academy he opened the package. Despite usual custom, Haruka was not given his forehead protector when he graduated; instead his father insisted that he was the one to present it to his son. Haruka’s eyes lit up when he picked up the forehead protector, his face red with the cold but it didn’t really matter. He wrapped the cloth around his head at first, tying it tight to get a feel of the weight but he didn’t feel right at first, it was odd to him and he wasn’t a fan of things being on top of his head, though he kept it there for now, mostly out of pride that he was finally a Genin.

As per normal Uzuki was up before the sunrose from the eastern hills. She had her rota of what she did every morning and did it like clockwork it was rare that she ever deviated from her list of things to do. First item on her agenda was to bathe and cleanse her weary muscles ready for the new day and missions ahead of her whilst she reflected on the missions she had previous to that day, thinking about where she could improve on her skills and things the others she had been put with could improve also but she had other things in her mind this morning. Uzuki was going to be one of the new team leaders of the Academys new genin, she was nervous and excited at the same time, it was a new thing to her even though she had cared for many others in her team she had never had to look after anyone who was not of her level of skills, so she would have to adapt to them, a new challenge which she was ready to accept.

After she had finished her ritual lists of things to do in the morning she strode comfortably out of the Uchiha compound. She greeted some of the shopkeepers who out early cleaning around the front of her stores. She soon arrived at the academy where she went around the back to the small training ground around the back where she looked at the targets with a faint smile, as memories came back to her of her days in the Academy. She drew a kunai and sat on the floor and began twirling it around her fingers as she waited for the new genin to turn up at the Academy.

As she sat on the snow covered ground of the Academy's training ground she saw the outline of a young boy, she smiled as she realized she was not alone, "As nervous as I?" she called out as she turned her body to look at the boy.

Haruka quietly looked up, crumpling up the parcel paper that had once held his headhand. He smiled to her lightly, pushing the paper into his pocket as he did and nodded quietly. "I can't wait till I know who I'll be working with. I hope they'll find me useful."

"As long as you work hard you'll be useful to anyone on your team" Uzuki said politely as she smiled a little, "I am nervous about if I will be able to have a well built team, I am hoping I will, if not I will make them train hard before they undertake any missions" she said jokingly.

He nodded, still smiling while he stood and moved over to her, so that she didn't have to shout or vice versa. "I'm just not sure if I'll be any use? I'm not very good with Ninjutsu but I'm handy with Taijustsu."

"Then practice and improve on the areas you are lacking skill in" Uzuki said simply as she looked at the boy a little closer, "You're a Hyuuga, practice using your byukugan and taijutsu and you will go far" she said nodding knowingly, "I have never had the pleasure of sparring with a Hyuuga in a training session, so keep practising and maybe one day you will be able to defeat a great leader" she said sweetly.

He nodded pleasantly. "Ok." Was all he said, then looked up into the sky. "I wonder when this snow will clear? I don't mind it, it's nice to look at. But I don't like being too cold all the time."

"I can get rid of the snow in this training ground but new snow will fall this evening and settle again" Uzuki said as she rose to her feet, the huge scroll she carried with her shifting with her body movement so it was comfortable behind her, "Move to the far end of the training area with me" she said as she walked down to one side ahead of him.

Haruka followed obediently, looking to the scroll on her back. "Sorry I don't mean to intrude, but why do you carry such a large scroll around with you?"

Uzuki smiled at the question, "You are the first genin to ask that in a long time" she said as she turned to look at him and walked backwards, "The scroll has many uses for me, summoning things I may need and for testing remedies for poisons" she said simply then tured back around and stopped about a metre from the wall and turned around and waited for Haruka to be standing beside her.

He couldn't help but wonder what she was doing, but he came up beside her. "But isn't it heavy?"

"Ummm...probably to others it is but I am used to it, I think it is rather light" Uzuki said chuckling and looked ahead of her, "Ready" she said as she began performing a few seals before raising her hands to her lips, "Katon Goukakyuu no Jutsu" she said and blew a great ball of fire, that missed the Academy and melted the snow and made the water evapourate, "Better?" she asked.

Haruka raised his arm up to his face, and taking a step or two back from her. After a moment he put his arm down and blinked, looking out at the steaming ground then to her. "That was amazing!"

Uzuki laughed a little at his exclamation, "I suppose it is, it just takes a lot of practice, as my father said to me as I grew up as a child practice makes perfect" she said simply as she moved behind him and tightened his forehead protector a little, "Keep it tight on it may save your life one day" she said happily.

He blushed a little, running his fingers over the Konoha leaf gently and looked around at her. "Thank you. It just feels a little uncomfurtable at the moment. I'm not use to wearing things on my head."

"You'll get used to it after a day or two" Uzuki said simply as she moved swiftly again to be infront of him, "Get some kunai or shuriken practice in, you have time and I doubt the other genin and jounin will be here for a while" she said as she closed her eyes, tilted her head and smiled.

Haruka nodded, reaching behind him to a small pouch filled with shurikins, taking his time to find himself a target that he felt right about, and began to toss shurikins, concentration. His throws were slow, but focused specifically to try and hit as close to the centre of the target as possible.

"Hold the shuriken just below your chest and inbetween your thumb and middle finger then throw fast but make sure your arm is in line with the target, it may help" Uzuki said as she watched his technique.

Haruka looked up to her and nodded. "ok." He took her advice on board, and at first he felt a little uncomfurtable but he soon began to get the rythem a little bit.

"Better, much better indeed, you pick things up quickly it is a good quality to have" Uzuki said approvingly as she watched him, "I hope to be quite honest, they have put you on my team, I could help you greatly improve, but alas not my choice" she said finally.

He stopped to look at her, putting the shuriken in his hand away and collecting the ones that were dotted around the board, you couldn't tell that he was blushing, because the cold had already reddened his cheeks. "It would be nice to be taught by you, you seem to know how to help, but I guess I don't really know what the other team leaders are going to be like."

"Nor I, I only returned home because I was asked to be a team leader, I think it is like that for a lot of the new leaders" Uzuki replied with a sigh, "I am to be honest just glad to be home" she said stretching.

Haruka nodded and took a seat on the grass, still feeling it's warmth from Uzuki's fireball. "Why were you gone?" Asking quite innocently.

"Konoha business, not allowed to speak of it and you are not allowed to ask of it" Uzuki replied honestly, she was not allowed to speak of her missions nor did she wish to speak of them as most of them just involved fighting and being a medic, "Just know this, with me you will learn to be safe and you will be safe" she said as she drew a kunai and threw it at a target without looking to it. The kunai hit dead centre of the target and she smiled, "I never miss my target" she said smiling dangerously.

"Oh." Haruka murmered, watching the kunai hit the target. "So.. sorry for asking." He reached around to his pouch and pulled out some chalk.

Uzuki smiled, "Do not be sorry, it was an honest enough question, shows a willingness to learn" she said happily before she walked to the target. Once she reached the target she pulled her kunai out and walked back twirling the kunai around her finger.

Haruka stood, still rolling the chalk in his finers while he walked up to her. "Do you think I'd make a good ninja? It's just that... I donno..." Pressing his fingers together nervously.

Uzuki just tilted her head a little confused at first but then thought carefully as she ran through her thoughts and what she had seen, "You progress well, with a bit more practice and confidence I think you will make a fine ninja" she said thoughtfully, "Just got to be confident in your skills and practice" she said as she turned her attention elsewhere a little and listened to the birds sing, "Tis a beautiful day" she said happily.

Haruka looked down to the side a little. "Yeah... I noticed when I walked past the home gardens this morning. Despite the cold it's nice."

"Then cheer up little Hyuuga, you're making the day seem glum" Uzuki said cheerfully as she poked her tongue out at him then pulled it back in.

He looked up, smiling. "oh, sorry I'm just worried that when I get my first mission that I screw it up."

"No genin will screw up on their first mission as they like to try hard and do their best" Uzuki said smiling, "At least that is how I see it" she said.

Haruka bit his lip a little, looking to the Academy. "I think that made me more nervous." Scratching the back of his head, then looking back to her.
