I have a theory, which would explain full difference in tastes. It's quite hard to explain in words, so I'll do my best.

What if people, simply see different colours?
I mean, if I say the grass is green, I'm pretty sure you'd agree with me. Likewise, if I said the sky is blue. (think of a midsummer day here!)

But, what if you simply see a different colour. What if, the colour blue (sky) to me, is the colour you see when you look at grass?
It would mean, you'd see a totally different colour than me. It would also explain, why people would like and dislike different clothing, cars, and so on. Colourdifference. Of course, this could also be the same with food and drinks.
All we know is, that a certain, undetermined colour, has always been called green. If I say the grass is green. You'd agree, no matter what colour you actually see.
All this, because since you were little, people told you, grass IS green. No matter what colour you saw, wether it was red, or yellow, or blue, the grass was GREEN.

So, eventhough people might be looking at the same grass, the colours could be quite different.
Eventhough people might be eating the same food, the taste could be quite different.
Eventhough people are smelling the same flower, the scent could be quite different.

It explains it all...
