This page is to help out though who aren't familiar with ship terminology.

Aft/Stern- towards the rear section of the ship

Astern- behind the ship

Bow- front of the ship

Fathom- distance of depth (one fathom= six feet)

Galley- the ships kitchen

Helm- wheel of the ship

Port- Left side of the ship

Starboard- right side of the ship

Swell- motion of the ocean
