On Wicca

What is Wicca exactly? If you ask a Wiccan, he will say it's a revival of an ancient Celtic witch cult which has existed for centuries undercover, until being uncovered by Gerald Gardner.

To this, I have only three wods to say: WTF?! First off, it is virtually impossible for any cult to survive since the VI century Anno Dementia till the 40's! The inquisition existed for this reason. And it did its job extremely well. Actually so well, that it utterly destroyed ALL ancient pagan religions, leaving only a handful of manuscripts remaining which tell of the true pagan religions. However, paganism never really died, since it merged with Christianity and held on in folklore and superstition.

Now, let's take a look at the religion itself. It's not any one specific religion. No. It's a mix of Hinduism, Mysticism, Occult, Judeo-Christianity and just a pinch of Celtic druidism. This further concludes that Wicca didn't exist since the ancient times - they are actually trying to convince me that the Celts knew all about Hinduism and Crowley¹ back in the VI century! WTF?! It also contains no visible trace of paganism, since all the key elements were drawn out. It doesn't include a specific pantheon like all true pagan troths do. It is based on an 'all-encompassing' God & Goddess system that is more reminiscent of Yin and Yang than of Taranis, Teutates and Cernunnos! The truth is, Wicca was never a real religion. It is just a bunch of different faiths merged into one ghastly cocktail – pretty much like the United States of America.

Also, the portrayal of women as superior is well off from fact. Since the Indo-Europeans settled the continent, all pagan pantheons have been focusing on male deities rather than female. This is due to the military nature of the Aryan. I do not deny that before them lived the cult of the Grand Mother, but we have no evidence that women were in any way superior, as many (but not all) Wiccans today like to think. Homosexuality is also seen as a natural and nice thing to do, while some of the actual pagans considered homosexuality as immoral and unnatural. In the Norse culture, homosexuals were called argr, which meant bizzare, perverted, dishonorable. The sheer act of a man allowing to be dominated by either a woman or another man was shameful. And there is nothing natural about homosexuality. A homosexual relationship cannot yield any offspring, and thus is not blessed by Nature.

The Wiccan portrayal of witches is one of a Judeo-Christian viewpoint. It is what people thought witches looked like. The Völvas are considered to be witches. They did magic, they predicted the future, however they did not wear silly hats and cloaks, didn't draw pentagrams or ankhs, and weren't somehow connected to a wand, a broomstick, or to cats. They are just what the general public think witches should be. The Völvas were also virgins, unlike the lusty "witches" of today. Actually, orgies were considered immoral by the pagans. The priests and priestesses did it on certain holidays to celebrate fertility, but they didn't go around having sex with everyone! Actually, this kind of wantoness was highly ostracized by the pagans. Truly, Sigrdrífa tells Sígurðr:

This I thee counsel fifthly:
although thou see fair women
on the benches sitting,
let not their kindred's silver
over thy sleep have power.
To kiss thee entice no woman.


And at last, I bring my final and conclusive point. Why Wicca is not paganism. Wicca has no right to be named paganism, because it is missing the key pagan belief. It is missing the warrior ideal. Since the indigenous Europeans were people of war, all of them fashioned the idea of glory in battle and glory in death! The Norse were promised seat in Óðinn´s Walhall if felled in battle. The Greek warriors enjoyed the Elysian Fields. They called their ideals arete, and the Romans called them gravitas. Central to paganism was the pursuit of glory, battle and honor, and not the pursuit of happiness! Wiccans are peace-loving folk and hurting anyone is against their creed. Therefore, Wiccans are not pagans... They are just horny teenage girls and boys who, unbeknownst to them, are breaking the very concept of paganism by becoming meak, by becoming cowards, by becoming cravens!
