The Temple Archives
This room houses the huge resources of datatapes and datacards the Jedi Temple has amassed over the millennia. Four long halls of stacks connect to a central Rotunda area, and tables with computer terminals are scattered about. Stairs lead down to several more stories of information which could be used by Jedi at any time.
Anakin walked over to a table with four terminals at it and pointed to the chairs. "Sit, young ones," he said quietly.
P'yativ quickly sat, pulling his cape to the side so as not to sit on it and folded his hands on the table, looking expectantly at Anakin.
Sitting next to P'yativ,
Alina stared at the blank screen on the terminal.
A few quick movements and one command,
Anakin brought all the terminals online with several pictures flashing across the screen. "Most recently, the planet of Shili, home of the Togrutas, was recently invaded. The seperatists general, Grievous, decided it would be a good place to set up a base. We are hoping to remove any threat quickly, as Shili is a Republic planet. What I need to know first is how much you know of the Togrutas."
P'yativ leaned back in the chair and laid his fingers on his chin, gathering his thoughts before speaking: "Well, the Togrutas have been an important component of the Jedi for millennia and perhaps bear a common ancestry with the Twi'leks" he said with a glance at Alina.
Alina bit her knuckle for a moment before looking up. "They believe deeply in unity. They are one with their planet and therefore one with each other."
Anakin smiled at both of them. "You are both quite correct. We have several Togrutas here with us. They are an important facet to our worlds. Which is why the loss of their planet will have a dire consequence on the rest of us as well." He turned off the terminals and sat opposite of the padawans. "If we are to battle the droid army, we must work with the natives."
"Master," began
P'yativ seriously, "will we be accompanied by anyone? We will need a translator..."
Pressing his communicator,
Anakin turned slightly away from the pair. "Snips, are you nearby?" His communicator beeped. "Coming, Master," a female voice sounded moments before a Togruta female came bounding through the doors towards them.
Ahsoka took the spare seat. "Young ones," Anakin said. "This will be your translator."
Alina stared at Ahsoka, an almost nervous expression. "Hello, Ahsoka."
Ahsoka nodded at Alina. "Hey, Alina." She looked at P'yativ. "I'm Ahsoka Tano. And you are?"
P'yativ stood briefly and gave a characteristic
ally extravagant bow before returning to his seat. "I'm Ura'an P'yativ. It will be relief to have you with us" he said with a grin.
Anakin stood. "Well, I have some things to finish. Ahsoka, show them to the ship once they are prepared. Don't forget the third." With that, he left.
Ahsoka looked at P'yativ. "What...or who...is the third?" she asked, a slightly confused look on her face.
P'yativ threw back his head with a quick laugh then explained "His name is Vic-tus. He drops in on us once in a while but he's rather slow." Then, lowering his voice and leaning forward, P'yativ jabbed a thumb in Anakin's direction and asked "Wasn't he going to gauge our readyness or are you going to test us instead?"
Alina shook her head, an etherealness coming into her voice. "This trip is the test."
Ahsoka looked at Alina. "I really don't like it when you do that, Alina. And yes, this is the test. He wants to see you in action rather than practice."
P'yativ gave a wheezy laugh at himself for his foolishness. "Well, when do we ship out?" he asked impatient now.
Ahsoka smiled. "Well, lets go then."
Jedi Mission One will be where we post now. Go there and find the next chapter.
Day Two Posts
Yativ walked slowly into the Archives and scanned the room before sitting at the same terminal as his last visit.
Alina followed and sat down at the terminal next to him. She looked over. "I don't know where to start..."
Yativ drummed his fingers on the desk in agitation. "We search files on Csilla's medical facilities..." he said after a few moments.
"You do that," Alina said. "I'm going to search Technological facilities."
Yativ immediatly turned to his screen and searched the Chiss homeplanet's medical records for significant doctors and medical researchers.
Alina did the same for the tech facilities.
The passage of time seems to flow by like a river and with both padawans so ingrossed in their seperate inquiries they are both startled when the feelings of being observed rushed over them both. Jerking around, hand like lightning fell on his lightsaber Yativ scans the still silent hall followed an instant later by Alina. Neither seeing anyone present yet the feelings of being closely scrutenised did not fade but after a few awkward moments Yativ shruged his shoulders, relaxed and went back to scanning various files. Alina however, feeling particualry troubled by the ever present sensation continued to scane the hall and it was just as she was about to abondon her search and return to her studies when her eyes came across the shape of a tall cloaked form leaning just out of the shadows behind a row of pillars.
Startled Alina nearly falls from her chair and grabs hold of Yativ's sleeves with a sudden shock. Alina's narrow as she concentrates on the shape observing them and reaches out with the force for an identy but when she finally thought she had it, it disappeared, leaving her slightly confused and lost looking.
"Alina?!" Yatvin called as he stared at Alina, her mind lost except for a mental sentence she happened to pick up. 'Mind your business!'
Shaking her head as if to clear it Alina looks up at her friend and grimmises. "I don't know, there was someone in the shadows, and whoever it was must have been a Jedi and better than me. But i don't get it, why would someone try to block me like that!"
Anger flashed over Yatvin's face as he searched the chamber for the assailent, but the figure had vanished. moving one of his hands to his lightsaber again he leaned close to Alina's ear and whispered through clenched teeth. "Call the temple guard, i'll go find this kerr!"
"Don't bother." Alina said massaging her forehead straightening up but still wondering what was going on. "Whoever it was is long gone now. It's obvious though someone doesn't want us looking into this!" She said pointing at her screen.
Several doctors come up with Yativ's search. One is renowned for his research in biological warfare. In the tech field, the same doctor is listed for his chemical releasing machines. His real name isn't listed, however it says "Jenks" as a name.
Yativ quickly copied the information onto a personal datacard of his. "I think we have what we need. We should go now," he said glancing around worriedly.
Alina nodded and stood, hurrying to the door and back to her quarters.
Yativ took a final look around, stuffed the datacard away in his robes, and swept out the door to follow her to Alin'adev's Room.
