Third Competition:
Lady Ruaera Nightwing vs. Lady Shaelyn
Ruaera walked into the arena, guiding her silver-white mare Celina to their position. She looked around at all the people that had come to view the competition, hating each and every man and woman in the crowd, before turning to her friend, preparing her for the competition. She did not have a staddle, nor did she need one. Celina was a wild mare, and Ruaera wished to keep it that way, she loved Celina wild and untamed spirit. All Ruaera did was place a simple but beautiful deep emerald blanket on Celina's back, and jumped up. Ruaera looked over at her opponite, showing her not emotion. Celina let out a snort as if saying that the competitor and her steed on the other end was no match for them.
Shaelyn was very beautiful, matching her name flawlessly, but her attitude was the total opposite. Everyone knew her to be rude and cruel, caring nothing for others. Instead, she was the "bully" of the village, going against chivalry and all that it stood for. She was an interesting character, but still this was no competition for Ruaera even though Shaelyn herself didn't know that yet. She held an unbecoming air to her as though she thought that she was going to win no matter the talents of her opponant. Lady Ruaera's welfare meant nothing to her. "Prepare to fall!" she shouted at her advirsary after she placed a silver helm on her head. Shaelyn snatched a javelin from her squire's hands and mounted her black horse. "What kind of a woman are you anyways? You're too pretty for your own good. You don't deserve it. Nothing could be more gorgeous than myself! Ha! Let's just see how you display yourself in combat, shall we?"
Ruaera didn't put a helmet on her head, and just looked at the rude woman. "Too pretty? More gorgeous than you?" she asked, though saying it more to herself. "At least not an trying to make up for my lack of inner beauty like you are, hag..."She grabbed up her javelin, preparing to ride at her opponet. "I will not fall to you."
"Uh... says you!" Shaelyn said in her usual snotty attitude. "Hmph! I'll stick this right up your...!" Before she could finish, the trumpets sounded and the two of them were off for their first round. Shaelyn spead her horse at full speed, aiming her weapon at her opponant.
"Hi..." Ruaera said to Celina. Her friend began to race at top speeds. Ruaera prepared her javelin, and sheild. Waiting for just the right moment to push out with it just enough to forcefully knock the 'hag' to the ground where she belonged.
Shaelyn missed her enemy by a small margin, but that wouldn't stop her from trying again. She would keep going until her opponant was taken out by her javalin. Nothing could stop her.... or was there? She shook the thought out of her mind and went back to her post. she would stay there until the announcer permitted them to go at each other again.
Ruaera looked at the 'hag' as she turned Celina to face their opponent again. She was not going to fail, she wasn't going to let herself lose to the selfish woman. "We'll get her this time, Celina..." Ruaera whispered to her friend. Ruaera looked straight at Shaelyn, to the point it was near being a glare. Shaelyn began to hear in her head:
I'm not the most beautiful... how can that be? If I'm not the prettiest, I can't live any more... I'm a hag...I'm a hag.... a hag....hag hag hag hag.... Ruaera was sending those thoughts making Shaelyn to believe they were her own.
Shaelyn was begining to become a bit depresed with this false thoughts streaming through her head and flooding her mind like an overflowing river. Again she tried to shake it off, but the thoughts were becoming too constant. Once the announcer finally signaled for the "go" of the next round, she spead off, though she wasn't well-focused and wasn't aiming her weapon properly.
Ruaera and Celina raced at Shaelyn again, Ruaera jabbing her javelin out towards Shaelyn just as they came upon each other, putting force behide her javelin in the process. She forcefully hit Shaelyn, sending her flying off her horse. When Shaelyn landed, she moved across the ground a bit, hitting her head hard on the side wall.
And that was it for Shaelyn. She had immediately passed out from the impact and healers raced out to help her. Ruaera was immediately declared the winner of the third competition.
Ruaera just watched the healers take the woman away, and then got off of Celina. Together, Ruaera walked Celina to her tent area, before heading to the next competition. "Hag..." Ruaera whispered.
