This is Proffesor Tom Burd's room, where he invents, writes and comes up with plans for lessons. Its got a water bed, a large book case and a collection of inks and paper. Some weird and shiny objects are in one corner of the room, making spurting, coughing and peeping noises.

A sheet of water came threw the window, carrying Tom's bags. It began to set up his room, before turning into the water bed.

Tom walked into his room, streached and looked around. "Good to be back" he said, before flopping onto the bed and laying restlessly.

Tom got up, about time for the dinner where he'd be introduced. Groaning slightly he walked out to the main entrance hall

Tom almost ran in. He looked around and began to grab things from his shelves and desk "Ah hell ah hell ah hell" he reapeated, looking around madly before running out again.

Lyra had taken the recent hour after their arrival and had used it to refresh herself. These things usually involved a very hot shower and the shaping of her not inconsiderably sharp nails. Her fur was still a bit damp but she could think of nothing else but speaking with Tom. She rapped thrice on his door and hoped he was in there. She and her brother's recent near death experience had put her to thinking about a few things and most of those things involved Tom.

Tom's own thoughts had been rather occupied with Lyra as well, but he had found down stairs a little crowded; he had come up to his room for some time to think. Slowly he opened his eyes and turned to the door, grumbling gently as he got off his bed and walking slowly over to it; he couldn't help but give a smile as he saw Lyra there though "Hey..." he said gently, stepping aside so she could come into his room.

Lyra smiled when Tom opened the door. "Hi." Was all she said as she sipped in and looked as if she didn't know where exactly to stand. Tom would have recognized this sort of behavior from their early years. It meant she had something on her mind and wasn;t exactly what to do with herself till she began speaking.

Tom tried not to smile at the way that Lyra flashed back to the nervous teenager she used to be for a brief moment, her uncertain dithering reminding her of how things used to be... "Here" he said gently, pulling out a chair and gently steering Lyra to sit down on it. When she was comfortably seated he moved around in front of her, sitting down on a small plume of water that appeared, creating a small stool for him to perch on as he watched Lyra "What's on your mind Lyra?"

Lyra took a deep steadying breath and after opening her eyes again said "Us." she paused after that, figuring that it was obvious to Tom that she meant US rather than plane ole' us.

Tom was silent for a moment, not a ripple of emotion on his face as he said slowly, and very cautiously "There... hasn't been an 'us' for a long time Lyra." He wasn't saying that he regretted it, he wasn't saying he wanted her back, he wasn't admitting anything "You went off... got married."

"Which I regret now." Lyra wasn't looking at him, more like around or threw him. "I should have waited for you... but I couldn't support your work with SHIELD."

Tom opened his mouth slightly to try and defend himself, but simply let out a sigh and a soft nod "I know Lyra, I'm not going to ask you to support that, and I wouldn't ask you to wait for me really." He gave a soft smile "You were happy, and to ask you to abandon that is selfish."

"I've abandoned a lot of happiness over the years." Lyra said introspectively. "All those misspent years I'd rather have spent them with you."

Tom nodded towards the floor, a small feeling of guilt starting to sneak over him; most of the time he'd wished Lyra had been there as well, but he wasn't sure if he should admit it. "I'll admit... I miss the happy feeling I had when we were together" well damn, that advoidance of admitance was rather short, he just couldn't help it.

"We where pretty cute together weren't we?" Lyra said. Sure she'd gotten tired of all the constant fighting but when she looked back on her youth there was always one constant thing that made her smile and that was Tom. "What if I suggested that we give it another shot?" She said so suddenly that it made her heart jump

Tom's seat had gotten a bit closer to Lyra before he'd realised that that he'd done it, his ears ringing for a second with the question as his mind dulled, slowed, then suddenly hit over drive. "Yes" he said, the whole process taking less than half a second "Yes I'd love to date you again Lyra... Really. And I'm grown up now, no more sulking around pretending like I have to deal with everything on my own."

Lyra's entire body had turned a violent shade of pink. As he well knew it was her super happy color, ether that or she was frightfully embarrassed about something. The smile on her face led to the former.

"heh..." Tom said, grinning himself as he noticed that Lyra was turning her "happy colour"; people always got confused when a dangerous member of the S.H.I.E.L.D. organisation said they loved the colour pink, they'd never seen Lyra's happy colour. He moved a little closer to Lyra, adjusting his seat without thinking so he was level with her and looking her straight in the eyes "I haven't seen you do that... in such a very long time."

"I've not had a good reason to." Lyra said smiling. Her heart was over following with joy at the prospect of being close to Tom once more. She wasn't about to admit how hard it had been being in such close proximity these last few months

It had been difficult for Tom as well, memories and wishes were so very difficult to squash at will. His hands moved slowly, wrapping around Lyra slowly and pulling her closer, so she was pressed up against him as he gazed into her eyes; this was a perfect moment, he didn't want to speak and spoil it. He just wanted to hold his bright pink girl friend close and imagine the future they held together.

It was easy to curl up on Tom's lap, his arms where warm and comforting, he made her forget those illspent years with whatever his name was. "Tom?" thinking of her ex brought about another question she had to know the answer to. "How do you feel about children?"

It was a sudden jolt, but considering what Lyra had just been through Tom completely understood. Or at least told himself he did. "I would love to have a child Lyra" he admitted "But lets not go from 'would you like to date again' to 'lets have a baby'."

Lyra outright laughed and it took her a moment to get it under control. her color had faded back to it's original Russian gray "No I mean eventually... Jerry wanted kids, but he didn't want to risk bringing a mutant child into... well worlds where they kidnap people and try to clone them, for example. Even with him coming from a mutant free bloodline our chances where almost 80%."

Tom gave a soft sigh and rested his head against Lyra's shoulder slightly "I think that any kid will have a difficult life Lyra, specially one of ours. Anything could happen to us, to them, but this is true for anyone's child isn't it? If we have a child... and they're a mutant... then they're going to have the difficulty of being a mutant in this day and age. If we have a child and they're human then they'll feel segregated in a mansion full of people with powers. It'll be difficult no matter what, but the point of having a child is because of love, and because you are willing to face up to the challenge." Yes, he did just underhandedly call Lyra's old husband a coward, but he would rather overhandedly call him a moron and heartless, so that was alright.

Lyra knew Tom was right, especially about Jerry being a coward. She felt safe and content in Tom's arms and before she realized that she'd done it she kissed him.

Tom blushed himself as he found Lyra's lips on his own, a soft groan of happiness at the familiar feel of her body agaisnt his own, her lips on his own. He was practically melting against her as he enjoyed the soft kiss; it felt both strange and wonderful to have Lyra's soft slightly fuzzy body pressed against him again.

by the time she pulled away she'd turned pink again "Look at me." She said standing and fanning herself with her tail "I'm acting like I'm 16 again! I'm rediculious."

"It's sweet" Tom laughed, leaning in again and planting a large kiss on Lyra's cheek as he admirred her pink fur "After all, so many other people would do anything to feel sixteen again. I'm just glad that it means you're happy." He gave a laugh and pulled Lyra close, grinning happily and trying not to show exactly how he felt; because if he did show exactly how he felt the swimming pools would be doing cartwheels.

"Do you think we should try to keep this quiet?" Lyra asked suddenly "It would be all over the school within seconds if anyone found out..."

"I suppose... with all the drama going on" Tom was still trying to stop himself from free wheeling out the window and yelling happily at the top of his voice. "But... I mean if I keep making you go pink" Tom poked lightly at Lyra's belly, teasing her and trying to make her go pink again "then won't the suspect something?"

"I could say I have a cold, but that'll only work for about a week." Lyra said "let's just not advertise it shall we?"

"Lets just not tell people..." Tom agreed "But not make it too obvious that we are going out. At least until everything's all settled down. Which with us might be never admittedly, but we can only hope." He gave a soft laugh, squeezing Lyra gently and taking a deep breath as he reveled in this moment.

"So what now?" Lyra asked "We've been dating a total of ten minuets and I have no idea what's next."

Pausing for a moment, Tom seemed to consider this for an entire five seconds before leaning in and kissing Lyra again, this time with a little bit more force than before while still keeping it passionate. They'd been dating for ten minutes, they'd stopped kissing five minutes again, and he'd already missed the feel of Lyra's lips on his.

Lyra couldn't help but giggle into Tom's lips at his eagerness. She wondered when the last time he'd been in a relationship but as their lips fastened themselves to one another all other thoughts swam away.

Tom didn't want to discuss past relationships, for both of their sakes; it would bring back too many memories of unhappiness after... and sometimes during their relationship. So he just melted, metaphorically for once, and pressed against Lyra as he held the kiss, hands stroking her hip lightly as he held her close.

Lyra wasn't sure when she'd wrapped her arms around Tom's neck but she was aware that her tail had begun an exploration of his back and even ran threw his hair as they kissed.

Her touch was like electricity up Tom's spine, a soft gasp coming from his lips, breaking the kiss for a moment as he relaxed in her arms. "Ohhhh... I'm missed your touch" he groaned softly, smiling as he felt the soft tickles of the tail.

Lyra had missed him too but she didn't want to escilate matters by saying it just yet, after all, rationality was beginning to seep threw. "Maybe... maybe we should slow down?" She said the last bit before claiming his lips on her own and nibbling on his lower lip.

A soft groan escaped Tom's lips, freeing himself with a gentle pull back and licking his own lips as he tasted Leiarra on them again "M-mmmm... haven't we been dating for years already Lyra? We're just... picking up where we left off..." He leant forward and kissed Lyra firmly on the lips, his tongue darting out and licking across her own carefully, seeking access so he could properly taste her.

That little slip of his tongue caused Lyra's knees to weaken and the backs of her legs found the foot of the bed. "We're not kids." She breathed between kissed, love nips and slips of tongue "We're adults.... we should be rational about this." But even as she was saying it she'd scooted her bottom onto his bed.

"Right" Tom panted softly, returning every single touch of Lyra's lips, teeth or tongue "So you're a concenting, reasonal adult... I'm a concenting reasonable adult... And I want to make up for a lot of lost time." He didn't say how exactly, but his wondering hands and firm embrace clearly showed what he wanted to do.

"OH Tom." Was all Lyra could manage as they reclined together against the bed. She used her tail to pull them both up into the bed so their legs could hang off the end comfortably

Tom pressed up against Lyra firmly, closing his eyes as he kissed her again and again, barely noticing that they'd been pulled back onto the bed until they were lying flat against it. The longer he stayed here with Lyra the more lost time he was thinking about making up for, and he hoped that Lyra was starting to feel the same way.

Lyra's tail managed to wind under his shirt and proceed it's exploration while Lyra's hands explored elsewhere. Her heartbeat sounded like thunder in her ears and a myriad of worries and cares where forgotten, wrapped in Tom's arms.

He could feel his shirt starting to lift off his body, soon it would be completely off... but he didn't care, he was starting to like the idea of being naked around Lyra. "M-mmmm... Lyra... y-you're so amazing..." he whispered softly, almost litterally melting against her now.

"I've missed you so much..." Lyra said breathlessly all the while her lips claiming his over and over again.
