A large house with a red canaopy for a roof as the roof was deastroyed by a fire...of Ullari's own doing. There are multiple rooms containing anything from weapons, to trophies of enemies and incompitent lackies, the later being easily the most unsettling thing to look upon. There is an entire room reserved for such things, he also has a spa room of sorts, an office an finally at then the bedroom, containing a large feather bed.....which he rarely uses as he is often to tired to stagger back to it

Rayne entered with Ullari, her arm still through his, then walked over to lay down on the bed, "How are you love?" she asked, not sure if he still needed to rest after all that had happened that day.

Ullari sat down on a couch across from her "Weary, between the lack of sleep to and from the battle and all the planning and visists to the war room...i'm ready for some down time" he sighed pleasantly, kicking off his boots and mail shirt.

"I know what you mean." Rayne murmured. Unfastening her red corset, Rayne sat there in her black dress that was now rather torn, and gazed over at Ullari.

"oh?" he mused with a yawn remoing everything save for black shirt and well worn pants. Ullari played around with an ornate long knife, throwing everything else in a heep off to the side...far to lazy to even put it all on it's appropriate racks or mounts.

Rayne smiled, "You really are exhausted." she observed, seeing that he was too tired to even stack his gear neatly.

"Quite" he sighed, streching out and proping himself up "Well not really, just don't want want to take the time to stack a bunch of ruined gear back up on it's mounts"

Rayne laughed a little, that same laugh that no one but he had heard since she was much younger. She rose and went over to sit beside Ullari on the couch.

"And what are you laughing at?" he teased plucking the flowers out of a vase and throwing the water at her, returning the vase to the small table "You look positivly soaked" he laughed...a laugh that he had not used since he could not remember...in years long past as a young elf on Telpurion...when he still had a family.

Rayne laughed again, smiling, "You should laugh like that more." she said softly, smiling warmly at him.

"I sound like drunk child when i laugh like that!" he groaned, thuroughly embarassed. Red in the face he rolled over on his back, grabbing a pillow to cover his face.

"You do not!" Rayne laughed, "I think it's sweet." she smiled, pulling the pillow from his face.

Ullari blew into her face pulling it closer and kissing her "Whatever you say love" he sighed.

Rayne returned his kiss, "And now I am very wet." she said with mock severity, though she was smiling happily.

"And now you are very bare" he teased ripping off the tattered black dress "Figures you need a new one anyways" he laughed at her, the same boyish laugh....before turning red at its' use.

Rayne flushed bright red, then laughed at his reaction, "I don't see why it embarrasses you so." she smiled, wrapping her arms around him.

"Hmmm, nice veiw" he said nosing her neck alittle. Ullari gently slid out from underneath her, picking her up and setting her down "Can i get you anything?"

Rayne blushed, then looked up at him, "Something to eat would be nice." she said realizing that they hadn't eaten all day.

"What would you like?" he asked pouring ice water over her, setting the glass down. "I repeat myself..nice veiw" he smiled kissing her neck.

"Ullari!" Rayne nearly shrieked, shivering from the water that now trickled down her bare skin, "That's c-c-cold."

"Aww but you look so good" he teased remorslessly "So then what would you like to eat?" he asked. Reaching to open up the window only for snow and ice to cover her and land on him "T-t-th-th-thats cold!!!" he said jumping back "Anyways what would you like?"

Rayne dove for the bed, burying herself under the blankets, "Something warm, a stew or something." she suggested.

"As you wish" he said scooting off to the kitchen, finding a pitcher of ice water...deciding he preffered his place of rest dry and sopping wet.
Ullari milled around, finishing up the stew....eating all but a bowl of it which he saved for Rayne. Coming back into the room, minus the pitcher of ice water "Suite your fancy" he asked her, descreatly eyeing the ice chest under the bed.

"Thank you very much love." Rayne smiled up at him, taking the bowl, "And don't even think about it." she said, guessing what he was eying.

"What?" he asked feigning offense. Sitting down on the bed he hit the window above her, drenching her in snow an ice "That?" he asked "Well at least it will cool the soup down for you"

"Right now, I really want the soup to be good and hot." she laughed, moving over to the other side of the bed, "There, that can be your side of the bed." she said with an impish grin as she used her powers to warm her food back up and began to eat.

Ullari sighed, rolling over, burying himself under the blankets tossing off his shirt. Reaching for the knife, he cut one long mark into his arm, to mark the first of the commanders that he was planning on bringing down. He then carved the date into his arm. All the time Rayne would not have been able to see him as his back was turned.

"What are you doing?" Rayne asked curiously looking over at him as she finished the soup and set it aside.

Ullari made it look like he had his arm wrapped up in a blanket, more than happy that the sheets where crimson red "Just eyeing a long knife i picked up in the raid" he said softly.

"And what do you find so fascinating about it?" she asked with a smile, wrapping her arms around him.

"It is an old obsession....and i like the craftsman ship" he said feeling the wounds scab over removed them from the blanket. Ullari reached over taking a long pull from one of the bottles under the bed.

Rayne smiled, "I won't ask you for a sip this time." she joked.

"It is just water" he said dryly, moving on to the next bottle and taking a gulp out of it. His scabbed over arm flopped across him.

Rayne was not sure whether to be convinced or not, she stopped trying to descide when she noticed the fresh scabs on his arm, "What happened?" she asked, turning his arm over to look at them.

"Nothing of consequence" he sighed "Well i'm going to go make my rounds" he said getting up and heading into the Avery, tucking each bird into it's respective cage for the night.

Nothing of consequence? she thought to herself as she rose to follow him, tossing a robe over her shoulders as she followed him from the room. She watched from the doorway as Ullari began tucking the birds away for the night, the more she watched him, the more she realized that there was something about him that he had never allowed any creature, save his birds, and now her, to see. There was a certain tenderness that no one would ever think existed in him, and she stood there, leaning against the door frame, just gazing at him.

Ullari unaware of his being followed finished tucking in the birds, warming the hot water pipes that served as their heater for the night. He quickly moved on into the cellar. Mid-way down a large door opened out of which all maner of sound emited. This would be where he kept all the things that where not avian. Anything from large snakes to a tiger, even a dragon at the end. He cruised up and down, from the door there appeared an entrance leading further beyound the menagerie.

Surprised that he did not seem to see her, Rayne followed him into the cellar, watching him walk up and down the hall, following him.

Ullari ventured into the far entrance, which turned out to be a vast enclosure with a cathedral like ceiling, on the floor lay a large pool surrounded by dense undergrowth and trees. He soon dissapeared in the undergrowth "I haven't been here in years" he sighed to himself. The Emperor of this territory had this place created long ago as a private residence that didn't draw attention on the surface.

Rayne followed him into the undergrowth, being careful not to lose him as she wondered who, or what, built such a place.

The massive snow leaupard Bernard pounced on her "And who are you?" he growled in her ear.

Ullari made his way through the undergrowth taking off his shirt and deciding on a swim. Waterfalls cascaded into the pool as he perched behind one of them for a nap.

Rayne gasped as she was knocked over by the leopard, and the air was knocked out of her,"Get off me Bernard." she demanded, "You know precisely who I am."

Bernard sniffed her "Ugh yes i know who you are now.....when did you last have a bath?" he wrinkled his nose "But come now child, not even you are allowed here...this is his sanctum...and believe me there are others here that would be more than happy to make a meal out of you" he said picking her up in his huge mouth before trotting off "Mind if i ask why you are walking around in the buff?" he asked, his voice muffled and distorted as her body was in the way.

Rayne was not happy at being told that she could not follow her husband. "Bernard!" she exclamed, feeling his sharp teeth start to cut into her, "Drop me now, Ullari will not be happy if you cut me up." she tried to get the big cat to drop her, while also trying to keep herself covered by the robe.

Bernard manevured his gums over his teeth "Heads up" he said as he gave a bound up through a large tunnel "Well then welcome to my personal cat door" he said trotting down the lengh of the tunnels "Hold on, gotta tease the gators" he laughed setting her down as he peered over the narrow cat walk into the gator pen. Eyeing a rock "Well then, this should be fun...these are talking gators to" he said with a throaty laugh.

"Bernard, just get me back to Ullari's room." she said, rather exasperated, but too worn out to be demanding.

The large cat crept across one of the support struts that had a pile of rocks at the end. Tipping one and whaching it fall right onto one of the gators heads. A chorus of cursing and growling errupted followed by shouts from other animals not to happy to be disturbed. One voice did ring out "I will feed who ever is up there to the gators if they don't knock it off!!!" as Bernard sent a fullisade of rocks onto the gator pen.

"Bernard!" Rayne called, "Just get me back." she was starting to get irritable, and she was rather disappointed that Ullari had gone off without her.

Bernard swept her up, depositing her into her room before vanishing off again. Two hours later Ullari walked in, relaxed and refreshed he imediately curled up on his side of the bed and began to dose.

Rayne had fallen asleep a while after Bernard left her, but she woke when Ullari got into bed. She rolled over to face him, put her arm across him, and dozed back off.

Ullari smiled as he felt that all to familiar set of arms around him "Interesting night love?" he said nudging her ever so slightly to relieve a nerve pointer "From what i hear Bernard took you on a tour...and roused the entire menagerie...again"

"Hmm, indeed." she confirmed with a slight raise of an eyebrow, her eyes still closed.

"How so?" he murmered in her ear, wrapping his arms around her gently.

"He tossed some rocks into a pen of talking gators." she mumbled.

"So i see" Ullari growled "He also pissed off the lions, awoke the flamingos and teased the hyenas" he sighed thouroghly exasperated.

"He must have done that after he brought me back here." Rayne laughed a little, "What was that place you went to anyways." she asked curiously.

Ullari sighed "The menagerie? just poking around and making sure everything was in order....till i heard Bernard come in through the upper pipeline...and the racket that followed"

Rayne gave a small contented sigh as she snuggled closer to Ullari, "To think that under a week ago I would never have dared to be so close to you." she murmured quietly

Ullari smiled alittle "The feeling is mutual" he sighed content.

"I am happy that we can be like this." Rayne whispered quietly.

Nodding his head in agreement "Really? how so?" he reached up to close the windows that where in his opinion letting in to much sun light. Reaching over for a glass he found it missing "Never around when you need it....and who knows where Pert ran off to...oh well" he sighed deciding to drain the entire bottle instead.

Rayne smiled, "It is warm an comforting, not just physically, to be close to you, with your arms around me." she whispered, kissing his cheek lovingly.

Ullari smiled....happy he had the day off, though not looking forward to preliminary meetings the next afternoon "What would you like to do? I gave all the men the day off as far as active operations are concerned so all is free and good"

Rayne smiled, "How would you like to go for a walk, along the walls or something? Just to get outside where the air is not choked with smoke." she asked him.

"Why not?" he sighed walking over to put on his two shoulder, forearm, and knee peices. As was his custom he always kept a sword at his side wherever he went.

Rayne went over and put on another black dress with just a little red trim, then looped her arm through Ullari's once he was finished.

Without so much as a word Ullari walked on to the wall around the camp

Rayne followed Ullari, happy to be with him.

Ullari sat propped up in bed, a bandage covering one of his eyes, and his arms and body covered in scars, bruises and cuts from the night before.

Rayne entered their home and found Ullari in bed, "How are you?" she asked, moving quickly to sit on the bed beside him, worry all over her features.

Ullari smiled "I'm fine, healing quite well and rather quickly to" he said managing a slight laugh "Most of the valley burns...however our loses where great...one of the legions turned on us...that is where all the casualties come from. We where cut to peices in a matter of minutes, though two thirds of the valley burnes and estimated fifty percent of the populace is dead....like i said though....hardly worth sidelining two of my best calvary Legions" he groaned. It was true that the attack was largely a success, however it was supposed to secure a back door into Alliance territory as well as become a slaughter house, which of course it was not.

Rayne gazed at Ullari, the worry was still on her face. Slowly, gently, she slid her arms around him, and rested her head on his shoulder. "But you returned to me," she whispered, "so all is well."

"I keep my promises" he whispered softly into her ear before pecking her lightly on the cheek. He sat up more, he wasn't tired...indeed he was downright awake and ready...which irrated him as his body screamed for rest but his mind would not let him be. He looked down at her, stroking her hair gently "The traitor legion still lives" he said grimly "because of them the valley was not entirely destroyed...and i am in no mood to expend the troops needed to dislodge them....yes i know...seven hundred thousand now at my command...what worries me are the alliances numbers...they where growing...and with the wood elves they could have the strengh to once again take the offensive" he snapped from his musings "But that can wait awile longer" he sighed taking off his cast and eye bandage "courtesy of a fire weilding traitor" he said gesturing to the scortch mark on the side of his face and eye.

Rayne looked up at him, and gently traced the burn on his face, "The traitors will pay." she said grimly, her blazing red eyes hard, "One way or another, they will pay for their treachery." her face and voice softened, "But for now, rest my love."

Ullari sighed. He wanted to rest, but his mind was restless and unsettled at the betrayal. "As you wish little one" he said exhaling down her back "for now...and i'm not sure they where traitors so much as sympathizers to begin with..erm..excuse me a moment love" he said, realizing his shoulder armour and mail shirt where still on. Removing the armour, he stumbled wearily back.

Rayne watched him and pulled her feet up onto the bed beside her when he sat down, "You are restless, aren't you?" she asked, seeing the look in his eyes, "Relax my love, you need to rest." she murmured, resting her head back on his shoulder.

Ullari groaned "I am well aware of that...infact i would very much like to, till i begin thinking about all that needs to be done and all that has happened" he fell flat on his face onto the bed exhausted but unwilling to rest.

Rayn couldn't help but smile down at him, "Is there anything I can do to help drive it from your mind?" she asked softly, leaning down to place a kiss on the back of his shoulder.

"What did you have in mind?" he said, a hint of mischeif in his otherwise weary and mono tone voice. Ullari had forgotten about the black wings and sword tattoo on his back, not that it mattered at the moment as he was far to tired to concern himself with it....though if he thought about it he would have kicked himself for it.

Rayne smiled a slightly mischievous smile of her own, "Whatever will help." she whispered in his ear as she traced the tattoo with a long finger.

Ullari shivered alittle at her tracing the tattoo "What did you have in mind?" he said nipping her hand and holding it in his mouth.

Rayne removed her hand from his mouth and replaced it with her lips. As she kissed him, she smiled and wrapped her arms about his neck.

Ullari smiled, stroking her back "Anything else?" he whispered nosing her neck. Ullari sat up, picking her up and holding her close to him "I take it you talked to Gurthar? how did that go?" he said as his curiousity overshadowed everything. He was good friends with the Crusnik, however Gurthar had a habbit of keeping things to himself doc's specialty as he would say so often to the annoyance of others.

Rayne smiled as Ullari held her close, "It went well, he returned some of the memories of my mother that he had erased." she said, her hand subconsciously going to her necklace.

"That must be nice to have memories of her back...i know how much she meant to you...did he tell you i had a part in that? i told him to erase all of them so that there was no chance of you remembering what was done to you" he nosed the back of her neck before exhaling down it.

Rayne trembled a little, feeling his breath on her neck, "It is." she murmured softly, "What do you mean you had a part in it?" she asked.

"Gurthar only wanted to erase the portions directly related to what happened to you....i had him erase more because i didn't want your mind to cross referance and peice back together the lost memories...yes it is possible" he said softly.

Rayne nodded, "I understand." she murmured, then looked up at him, "You always did care, didn't you?" she whispered.

He drew his arms tighter in response "Yes i did" he sighed "So got anything you'd like to do?" Outside the temprature was dropping as clouds began to obscure the sun. A gently rain could be heard outside.

Rayne sighed happily as he held her tight, she knew what she wanted, but she thought better of it, he had been wounded badly and needed to rest, "You need to rest," she smiled gently at him, "let's just lay here for a while, love."

Ullari had had enough of rest...he was anxious to get moving. Reaching over, he took swill out of a drug concoction that Gurthar's medic team had prepared for him to speed up the healing process and dull the pain.

"Ullari, please." Rayne said, guessing at his intent, "Those things can wait. Stay with me, please?"

"Of course" he said softly "This just allows my body to patch up and heal quicker" he sipped away at an entire pitcher of water...his body was worn, deprived of one to many things courtesy of being run over by a hoard of calvary...somthing he conveniently left out as it was rather embarasseing to tell somone that after being round as long as he....that you had been run over in that manner.

Rayne nodded and wrapped her arms around him again, kissing him on the cheek, "Tell me what happened last night?" she asked quietly, "Describe the battle to me?"

"Well the fortress turns out was little more than a ten foot high wall on a mound...with three hundred well trained fire and earth weilding alliance troops...needless to say we left that alone almost immediately. Once at the top of the mountain and killing the guards we descended on the valley.....most of the people barely made it out of their homes before they where cut to peices or burned. The southern farmlands facing us where aflame and we began to march north when we realized the entire third legion was missing...most of first and secound had left their mounts including myself with guards from first and secound" his eyes darkened "we neared the river and fought our way across against the now awakened militia guard...an easy task. We neared the village and the best of the elementals where already demolishing and setting alight the outer walls, gates and dwellings...then the third legion appeared...they rode most of the men...and me..to ground in minutes. After that the retreat was sounded"

As Ullari spoke, Rayne's eyes hardened, rage at the humiliation caused to him causing them to blaze, "They will pay." she murmured, her voice low, "How were you wounded?" she asked quietly.

"Not sure which was first...if it was the massive armoured Chestnut stallion barelling into me...the rock thrown at me..the fire.." he laughed alittle "Relax Rayne" he chidded playfully.

Rayne's eyes softened, and she gave him a small fond smile before resting her head on him again, "A part of me thought I would lose you." she whispered into his shoulder.

Ullari smiled, nosing her neck "I told you i would come back Rayne...and so long as i say that then i always will" he said softly to her.

Rayne nodded, swallowing a lump that had formed in her throat and wrapping her arms more tightly about his neck, "I love you Ullari." she whispered.

"Love you to Rayne" he said with a yawn as he began to dose off slightly. He held her close to him, enjoying the feel of her beating heart against his hands and just to finally be able to wind down.

Rayne smiled happily, she was glad that he was finally resting, and of his own free will, "Rest well my love." she whispered as she closed her own eyes, though she did not sleep.

Ullari's eyes shut slowly as he slept. His mind wandered to what needed to be done and just what exactly he needed to do to acomplish his to-do list.

Some time later, Rayne slowly sat up so that her back was against the headboard, so as not to disturb Ullari. She sat and watched him lay there, a small smile on her lips and a fond look in her eyes.

Ullari stirred, rustling the bed coverings to cool himself off before waking up to a cool breeze up his leg "Damn spring...always has the coldest mornings...." he groaned, pulling a pillow over his head.

Rayne laughed, pulling the pillow off his head and hitting him lightly with it, "It's time to wake up." she smiled, "You've slept too long."

Ullari groaned "it would appear it is" he said with distaste for such things clear in his voice.

Rayne smiled fondly at him, "I believe you had intended to mobilize your army to counter the Alliance." she reminded, kissing his cheek

"Oh damn the alliance and my brother....there is somthing more pressing...the summer solistice is near...and this time we must brace ourselves for the very gates if hell to open" he said softly "I think Lomien has a very different objective in mind for captureing the islands...they are well outside the radius of the fortold gates affects....and from there he can easily ride out the storm...Eldamar even is realativly safe...but not very and he knows this. Telpurion is far from safe...no that place will also be the location for a gate...though a much smaller one as it is far from the fighting here"

Rayne's face fell as she was reminded of the impending Deamon Incursion, "How are we to prepare?" she asked, "The captains need to know."

"There is no real way to prepare save for setting each legion in their own camps half a mile apart from each other...that way if the gate opens...the most they can attack is two or three...the remaining seven will be able to respond in a orderly fashion. The captains are aware of this" he didn't like spreading his legions out so far...but he could not afford to have half or more of his army killed in their sleep. He had the ten regular legions and then an additional eleven recruit legions...he knew he would need all that he could get just to survive the initial contact.

Rayne looked at him, almost as uneasy as he about spreading their forces so thin, "You will prevail." she encouraged, "We will ride this out."

"Our chances are slim Rayne...the Deamonic army could potentially number in the millions within hours of the gate opening...all of whom would be warriors" he said sitting up.

Rayme bowed her head, "I know." she murmured, "But I am sure that we will make it."
