The ancient Illani Scholars say that the Gods looked upon the world and where horrified at what they saw. They brought their fists down upon it and it shattered like glass. What was created as they smote the civilizations of the world where the complex system of inter-dimensions known as The Veils. Each Veil contains within it a gateway to all other worlds within the system. All worlds are identical from the rest, save for it’s peoples. The continents, islands, seas and rivers are all identical. Even the magic-ways remained the same.

The differences between the realms however vary greatly. Each species and civilization of higher intelligence range from the noble elves and their realm rich with magic to the highly advanced cities of non-corporeal beings. It depends on the species whether or not they can tap into the magic-ways and control those special arenas.

Illani records state that the gods sought an audience with all higher beings among the realms. The gods informed them of their intention to destroy the Veils. The beings begged that the gods spare them and suggested that they could defend the peace of each civilization. A treaty was signed among them and it was decreed that they would choose those most worthy to protect the peace among their warriors. The higher beings where named the council over these dealings and the gods agreed to the terms. Thus the Covenant was formed.

Over the centuries the Covenant and it’s officers have gained in prestige. They have been the highest governing order among the veils since their establishment. Bringing them together and encouraging trade from all civilizations.

As the centuries have passed the Covenant has reigned and regulated the travel and trade among the Veils. But with the expansion of power comes the need for man power. The highly esteemed Covenant Academy was established to choose and train the finest of all civilizations in order to ensure the purity and strength of the Covenant.

Our story takes us to the one place among the Veil Worlds that no Covenant Officer wants to work. The Veil of Earth where the civilization is so ignorant within it’s self that they have no idea what grand scheme they are apart of. The Covenant is content to allow the Earth to self destruct in it’s self and only regulate the Veil Travel. The Earth does not trade with any other civilization and travel is so little that the Officers vital quest is no other than a boring existence forced to clock in every day.
