Does cold, wintry weather get you down? Do you look forward to hot, sunny weather, and the pleasure of sleeping at night with all the windows open, serenaded by the crickets and frogs? Do cute creatures like polar bears and seals and penguins make you sad, because where they live it's too darn cold? Ar you an adult who really dreads commuting to work through an ice storm? If you can answer any of these questions, then maybe this contest is for you.
In this contest, people will enter their art, which can be anything related to warm weather. There will hopefully be two categories, one for all ages, and (possibly) one for adults only, and only viewable by adults (reasonable exceptions may be permitted). This might be subdivided further should interest warrant. There will possibly be a poetry category, too, but that will depend on interest.
Sample Art
Two art samples, not at all meant to be entries for this contest. A few months back, I had serious winter blues---which can happen at any age. My son Patrick politely but effectively asked me to make him his own anthro-dragon character, seeing that Mommy and Daddy already had theirs. This is when I came up with the basic picture idea. I wanted to give it a slightly dramatic twist, and that is why there is a waterspout coursing harmlessly across open water. If you have ever gone to the Caribbean during the summer months, you will see waterspouts frequently, just offshore. Fortunately few of them become land tornadoes. For more information on that, please refer to:

(Improved scans! Please do NOT use these on your houses. Use the one with the logo, instead.)
---THE RULES---
(subject to change)
(1.)
KEEP IT CLEAN, ON THE GENERAL-AUDIENCE PAGE. Knock yourself out on the adult page, but there will be some rather strict rules there,so if you're an adult with a dirty mind brace yourself.
(2.)
ONLY ENTER YOUR ORIGINAL ART. I strongly encourage contestants make stuff specifically for this contest. Of course, this is up to the contestant. A better feeling of accomplishment will likely come from doing stuff specifically for this wiki.
(3.)
PLEASE, NO LINED PAPER. Anything else within good taste is permissible as long as you can scan it, upload it and link it here. Anything it else it takes (within reason) to come up with your stuff is highly encouraged. Ideally, it's best to use "real" art supplies, but a lot of people can't afford them, and this contest is meant to be fun and full of life and variety.
(4.a.)
ABSOLUTELY NO STOLEN ART. Or anything which falls under
Uploading Art Rules. This will embarrass you in the end, more than anything else. Cheating is not cool.
(4.b)
PLEASE, NO RANDOM INTERNET IMAGES. This also falls under
Uploading Art rules. Images of your favorite cartoon/anime characters playing volleyball on a sunny day may look great---but unless they are fan art, they are not done by you. Show us what you can do---that's the stuff we'd like to see.
(5.)
PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL. So you're 21 years old, and you can draw amazingly better than that thirteen-year-
old kid who's getting all the cute comments for his beginner-level rendition of a family of emo orcs on vacation in Bermuda. . . which happens to be the same exact subject you're doing. Well, guess what? That's life for you. If you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all. Maybe if you say something nice to that little kid, you might just get happiness in return. Also, don't you dare "bully" other contestants, or try to tell them the rules when you demonstrate your own fundamental misunderstanding of them! I personally have a little bit of fun putting these bullies in their place, and heck with it, so should you! More serious, this contest will NOT be disrupted by pointless drama. This contest is about as simple and straightforward as they come, so if you still don't understand (and English is your first language!) I suggest you either get back to bed because your body is crying for sleep, put on a good pot of coffee if you're just getting up from bed---or, if these still don't help, go to Elfpack or Myspace and start your own contest for intellectually-challenged folks.
(6.) This contest is supposed to be fun and creative and amusing. Participate, no matter your skill level. Relax, enjoy, and feel good you made constructive use of your time.
7.)*****PLEASE DO NOT SPAM FOR VOTES! If you do, you will be either (1.) Warned, then kicked out if it happens again; or (2.) If this happens after the contest has been closed, votes for contest will be disregarded. You will not be permitted to enter contests run by [Paul Doyle] after that.*****
(8.)You can have a maximum of TWO entries per category. So what does this mean? It means that if you are 18 and older, are diversely talented in clean artwork, clean photography and clean poetry . . . and are equally talented in naughty artwork, naughty photography and naughty artwork, you can have twelve entries! :0
