The Upper City, North End

Hasting's North

Image in progress

Hasting's North is one of the most affluent and less populated parts in all of the Royal City. Unlike the more residential and pedestrian Hasting's South, the north is house to the most important noble houses of the Royal City. All of the traditionally important families with noble birthrights that escaped the destruction of the old world immediately settled here, building their lavish homes between the Royal Academy and Barracks, which divide the north and south ends of the avenue, and the Royal Palace, where the queen lives. The noblemen of old probably thought this location would mean permanent protection granted by the presence of the army and crown, and thus far they have not been wrong. The avenue itself is rather wide and beautiful, kept pristine by city employees and patrolled by a healthy amount of constables and officers. It possesses a wide, flat stone road for carriages with two sidewalks for pedestrians, with spaced out mushroom gardens separating the sidewalks from the road, galvanic lights mounted on beautifully decorated wrought iron posts and even trees right next to the row of largest manors, those carved directly into the side of the rock wall

The door to Wow - Goldsmith Manor opened to reveal Nadira, who, while possibly looking out of place among the average occupant of the affluent neighborhood, was a staple among Hasting North's residents. With her art supplies on her back and sword at her side, the veiled, half-breed heiress daintily made her way down her family house's front steps and paused, for, as she had told Frederic before taking her leave, she didn't know exactly what it was she was going to do this evening.

The night was young and Nadira had coin in her pocket and freedom to explore. She could go to the Northern Ruby Road for the more upscale entertainment. or the Southern one for more dangerous thrills, she could go to the southern Magister road, one of the few places she could ever feel accepted, as the tinkerers were born Majai but had fallen in love with the machines of Daguerre. There was also the Lonetrain station, where she might find rangers and travelers and hear their stories in exchange for a drink. She could even make her way to the lower city, which his father had always forbidden, visit the Mage Market or even the Haths.

While the 'sky' dimmed as night started to fall upon the underground city, Nadira weighed her options, finally deciding upon going precisely where it was she wasn't supposed to go-- she done so in the past, and would continue to do so, despite her father's warnings. The small heels on her boots clicked sharply on the pavement as she briskly made her way toward the WoW - Palace Gates.
