This RP is open only to people who have active characters in the X-men RP and those players MUST use one of the characters from said RP in order to participate. The following details a possible, alternate future culminating 9 years after the events currently in the X-men RP.

This page is required reading to participate in this RP and always keep in mind; There are no good guys.

On the year 20XX, anti-mutant sentiment was on the rise. Several incidents involving mutants polarized the american public on the increasingly worrying 'mutant problem'. Previous solutions offered by private contractors and government agencies failed miserably, and after the waste of billions of dollars in the wildly unsuccessful Sentinel program, the country was thrown into a recession. Among fear, anger and need, extremists began to propose a variety of final solutions for the mutant issue. One of these extremists was an extremely charismatic political candidate running on an anti-mutant agenda for one of the major parties in the country.

Six months before the elections, however, there was a mutant response. A million mutant march was schedules in New York city to counter an anti-mutant rally held by the political candidate. Soon enough, riots broke out between opposing factions, and in the chaos, a rogue mutant killed the prominent presidential candidate. The backlash was terrible, thousands of mutants were arrested and retained in New York city. Smaller riots began to break out in every major population center with an important mutant population, and soon enough a state of emergency was declared.

Over the next year, arrested mutants began to be taken to New York, to increasingly larger prison camps designated specially for mutant dissidents. It wasn't long before mutants who were merely suspected of holding anti-government views or were deemed potentially dangerous were detained and shipped off. While it was clear the New York holding centers were only a temporary solution, two pieces of information pushed the already tense situation over the brink. On one hand, the rumor began to spread among the captive mutants that the reason they were being held in such a major shipping port was because they were to be sterilized and sent to some off-shore prison camp. On the other hand, an important government official leaked information on horrible experiments performed on mutants by different government sanctioned organizations. Everything from the shadier aspects of the Sentinel Project, the mutant registration act and other projects were suddenly public knowledge.

The mutants replied with all out war. Hundreds of thousands broke out of detention centers all over coastal New York state and were met by the army and national guard, fighting a brutal city war while civilians tried their best to evacuate. The state of emergency was extended and many of the liberties citizens took for granted were rescinded by the ruling party, which was, ironically, the same party the anti-mutant candidate had belonged to. The situation became so critical that the party was given nearly limitless power to decide. With the battle of New York going badly for the government and after 6 months of fruitless struggle, the government used technology obtained from mutant experimentation to generate a huge, mutant proof quarantine area around New York city and it's immediately surrounding areas. All bridges were destroyed as the army retreated, stranding millions of mutants and humans, and then the entire quarantined area was carpet bombed. In a matter of a single weekend, New York and the surrounding area had been turned into a barren wasteland populated by belligerent mutants and stranded humans. The mutant registration act was passed unanimously the very next week. Ever since, every mutant born or detected within the United States had to be immediately registered and sent to the Mutant Quarantine area in what used to be New York City.

Within the Quarantine zone, two powerful factions emerged. On one hand, Mutant Liberation Army, a rag tag army of mutant speciests who wish to continue the war against the United States for their freedom and establish a state only for mutants. While their goals attract many and there is a degree of acceptance and freedom of thought within the MLA, the lack of discipline, a clear chain of command and their might is right attitude means a few rogue elements within the army do as much pillaging, raping and looting as they do liberating. Still, many idealists are counted within their ranks in an unlikely coalition of rebels, anarchists, humanists, freedom fighters, raiders and mutant extremists. However, they all share one common trait, their extreme distrust for the government that betrayed them and their wish to create a new world where mutants can live without the threat of human domination. On the other hand are the X-men, a pre-war organization that believes the only way for mutants to re-integrate into society and earn their freedom once more is without the disruptive input of the MLA. The X-men are better equipped, organized and have become the lap dogs of the private contractors (or company men, as they are called) tasked by the government with keeping the mutants within the quarantine zone, albeit grudgingly. They see any dissent within the mutant community as a threat to their survival as a people and their goals, and are quick to stamp it out with extreme prejudice and utmost brutality, as if to make an example out of the instigators. The X-men are no longer an organization for freedom of thought or belief, but for conformity and the trading of freedom in exchange for security. From their respective bases of operations at the Xavier Mansion (right next to the highly technological quarantine wall) and what used to be Central Park (now called The Sprawl) both sides wage a war of skirmishes and propaganda.

Things, however, are on the verge of breaking out, after seven years of preparation, the two rivals approach the final confrontation, and no mutant in the wasteland can afford to remain neutral any longer.

End of Days Glossary

If you want even more information

Where are they now?

While many of the mutant's mansions won't be playable, that doesn't mean they disappeared from the world, they may be part of the MLA or X-men as NPCs (Non-Player Character). If you wish to relate the past and current situation of one of your own characters (which you aren't playing), please do it in the following space. Remember to mention which of the other characters might be aware of what happened to that particular person. If the character you are currently playing is rendered unplayable or killed, you can also pick one of your other characters from this section and upgrade them to Player Character status.

Ideally, write at least a paragraph, but not more than two.
Characters not listed here will be considered as dead/missing by the other mutants.

*note*
Guys, both here and the X-men RP, we're trying to detach ourselves from the characters and concepts of Marvel comics, keeping only the base premise of the X-men. So if possible, try to steer clear of canon characters and events from the Marvel Comics.

Start here

Korvka; has learned of her mother and all of the atrocities she committed against her with The Company and quickly joined MLA to exact her revenge without the judging eyes of her X-Men peers. She was all right until she discovered that Shoshana knew already that Fedor had been slaughtered and that sent Korvka over the edge - she confronted her mother in a bloodbath that included poison, suffocation, and several long moments of painful torture until the toxins rendered the middle-aged woman immobile and she was left to hang from a thick vine rope by her neck in the middle of The Company's main foyer. She thought that killing her mother would make her happy but it didn't and she returned to the X-Men to try things with them again and to reconcile with her brother, whom she got into a fight with after she discovered that he worked WITH The Company and her mother even though he knew what all Shoshana had done. However, she soon realized that she didn't belong with people who thought her to be 'disobedient' and she quickly returned to MLA, where at least she has the freedom to police herself and deliver her own brand of justice.

Akantha; has basically been an MLA member before there was even a party. She gladly participated in the war that nearly ended the world, blowing up anything and anyone who got in her way or threatened her freedoms. The rebel force allows her ultimate freedom, and she willingly allows herself to be used as a weapon to further MLA's plans and reputation for being ruthless. Murderers, rapists, there's one of those in everyone so she is not bothered by the actions of her mutant peers. If the good guys can still be bad and the bad guys can still be good, then does it matter who kills who? She is convinced that these are the end days, the days of hellfire and punishment, and that its really just a hopeless battle where they'll all kill each other...but that's exactly how she wants it. Laughing in the face of everyone's struggle for life and peace again, she simply wants to set the world on fire and take as many humans with her along the way. She is currently one of the Freaks.

Miles; presumed dead but has learned how to mildly control people's thoughts enough that he can make himself totally unnoticeable and make people forget he was a mutant. He is currently masquerading as a human in his hometown, to keep his parents safe.

Mihir; After the mutant wars began, Mihir left his home where he was in charge as chief and returned to the mansion with his young son, also a mutant, in tow. Despite the anti-mutant sentiment, Mihir had found a happy balance between being a member of his tribe and being a mutant. He did not like the MLA's way of doing things and saw them as overly forceful. Although reluctant to fight against his former friends, Mihir still believes heavily in the justice of law over militants.

Addy; is missing. Presumably dead, she disappeared from the mansion not long after the riots began. No one has seen or heard from her since, although unbeknownst to them, she is still alive but currently working on her own goals and projects.

Sam Crowe; With the onset of the mutant wars, Sam became even more reluctant to admit he had anything to do with any sort of mutation. Not wanting to be involved with the wars in any manner, he made an attempt to disappear from any sort of contact within New York. However, he wasn't so lucky, and has been essentially kidnapped by the military, who has put Sam in a highly medically induced coma, and has been running tests on the apparently immortal mutant.

Aidan; Not wanting to pick sides with the war, Aidan has attempted to go into seclusion as best as he can. He left the mansion once again after the riots, and hasn't been seen nor heard from since.

Katie White; (Nathan's sister) After developing mutants powers of her own, Katie joined Nathan at the Xavier mansion prior to the riots. Since the beginning of the war, she has remained with her brother as part of the X-men, under the military influence.

Kyle: During his time at the Mansion, Kyle disappeared on numerous occasions for varying intervals, but he always managed to show up again and again, usually when he needed a place to hide, shelter, food and, more than once, proper medical attention. Picking fights, starting arguments and generally being a pain-in-the-ass all continued to be favorite pastimes for the guy. He heartily participated in a number of mutant riots, mostly just for the fun of it, in the upper Atlantic states as he eventually succeeded in his long time goal of making it to Maine. Instead of fulfilling his boyhood dream of hiking the Appalachian trail, however, he was in pursuit of a couple of leads he had on a young woman, a mutant by the name of Luster, that he used to run with before he had even arrived at the School For Gifted Youngsters, although he'd presumed her long dead as she'd disappeared after a raid of one of his former squatting encampments. Although it could easily be assumed that Kyle's attitude and motives flawlessly aligned with those of the MLA, by the time he and his girlfriend were reunited, they thought it best to just keep their travels on the down-low, and it is purported that they fled into the wilds of New Brunswick, or are tucked somewhere out-of-the-way in a quaint sea-side shanty in Nova Scotia.

Valerie: Taking the opportunity to travel on her father's dime, Valerie left the mansion before things escalated to a terribly dire scale, and ended-up joining the the Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon in France under the stage name (although those who knew her would probably consider it an alias), Evelina Doué. A new haircut, a box of auburn hair dye and some mail-order hazel-colored contacts helped her transition from unassuming midwestern ingénue into her new role as she tried to put her past behind her. It was difficult watching the coverage and reading about the atrocities committed in New York -- she hoped and prayed that her mutant friends and colleagues had also managed some way to get the hell out of Dodge-- but she'd found security in her new home and identity, and, while she had trained long and hard to hone her fighting skills in tandem with her powers, she saw no reason to go back. While touring, Val caught the eye of a member of the European Parliament, a gentleman just about old enough to be her father, and, funnily enough, also a member of the European Union's Ministry of Mutant Affairs. For a period of time, she politely refused the German politician's progressively aggressive advances, at least up until she received a number of increasingly concerned calls from her sister Cynthia that some fellows were visiting her, her mother and father, as they were interested in Valerie's whereabouts and 'just wanted to have her in for some questioning' in regards to some of her former colleagues at the Mansion. Val, who still maintained a modicum of her willingness to trust people she hardly knew, laid the situation out to the man, and, after agreeing to the terms of a contract drawn-up for the occasion, Valerie married Bruno Austerlitz, primarily in exchange for her family's sanctuary in Switzerland.

2012-12-02 [ZeoOfFire]: So this is based on Days of Future Past then?
Slightly anyway...

2012-12-02 [Duredhel]: I guess as much as any post apoc setting :>

2012-12-02 [ZeoOfFire]: Just thought "rogue mutant kills government dude, mutants get screwed" was Xmen:DOFP in a nutshell :P

2012-12-02 [Duredhel]: Aye :O

2012-12-03 [Duredhel]: Rephrased stuff a bit because people were reading the MLA, I think, as a band of murderers and thieves instead of a massive coalition of forces with some rogue elements.

2012-12-03 [Figgy]: Yeah but our RP doesn't really tie in with the comics in any way, other than the teacher characters and Xavier. Story-wise, no.

2012-12-04 [Flisky]: That note is ironic to me because I can't completely detach Addy from the Marvel universe. :P

2012-12-04 [Duredhel]: That's why we said 'if possible' :>.
I understand some characters cannot be detached, but just try to avoid making that attachment a lot stronger XD. Plots can still be discussed tho, but yeah. For example here I'm working under the assumption that Magneto and everyone from the brotherhood were dead for a while even before the mutant riots. They're like.. revolutionary forefathers XD, but they're not around anymore.

2012-12-04 [Flisky]: If they weren't, the MLA would be a lot stronger, methinks. :)

By the way, if anyone wants there unused character to vanish with Addy, feel free to contact me. I would prefer only one character to be with her, so of course, first come first serve basis. But bare in mind that she will be the last character I pull back, and that's only if both Rook and Mihir die first.

2012-12-10 [Duredhel]: Err... the Freaks are three brothers... I thought it said that in the description O,o.
Like... people can be part of their group or hang with them but not one of them...

2012-12-10 [Roma]: Whoops, go ahead and edit. I am heading to work :O
