History said that in the past, humans were the dominant species of Earth, that the cities were prosperous and the beings that lived in them were relatively harmonious in living together. But then they
showed up.
Somehow the long dead and buried had fought their way from beneath the ground, and the overflowing mass of humans began to dwindle. All had to adapt as an all out war on the mindless creatures began. None could remember a truly safe time, occasionally there would be a brief interlude between attacks, a time of relief and the chance to fortify the walls of their strongholds, as well as to search for more surviving humans.
Small groups didn't ever survive for very long, especially not when the undead swarmed the cities in a frenzy. It was on one such journey that they had found a young child with short, uneven, and dirty black hair. Her cerulean blue eyes were wide and ollow, her face pale and thin. Dried blood and chunks of flesh clung to her ratty grey dress.
The girl herself knelt between a mass of bodies, unmoving. The stench of death was pungeant in the air, her small hands clutched at several pieces of torn fabric. She looked as though she'd been there for a while, unmoving.
The group that found her were mostly youthful, though there were a few elderly with them. Each carried crudely made guns and swords. upon first glance, they would have thought the girl to be one of them
ir even dead, herself.
Her gaze shifted to them and she released a simple, weak, frightened whimper, though her body didn't move. She quivered as one man lifted his weapon with the intention of killing her.
A young woman in her late teens sat up, bathed in a cold sweat. Her breaths came in harsh pants, and her heart hammered so heavily against her chest that she thought it would surely burst forth and fall into her lap, where her hands were clenched and shaking. She'd had that dream so often, and each time she wondered if that man would pull the trigger. She feared it most of all- the thought of death looming so closely over her.
Her motions caused others to stir and she immediately stilled. Their group wasn't that large, and they were currently boarded up in a school. The days of the young were spent in classrooms, learning about the very same lessons that their ancestors had learned, as well as added curriculum. They now faced courses such as weapons training, hand to hand combat, and zombie anatomy so that they might learn the weaknesses of their foes.
She was a part of an elite team working on the creation of a ground vehicle in her spare time, though they'd had little success in getting it to run. The lands were strangely silence as the peace between her people and the zombies moved into its third year. She wondered often when they would attack again, those beings who had once been quite lacking in brains and who were now as intelligent as most humans- that was the frightening thing, and thinking about it caused her to shiver again.
Naoko darted to the next tree, attempting to escape from the rising sun. Not only was his poison, Amaretto a problem, along with the rising sun, some woman thought that he was with the zombies. He darted to the next tree and dodged the bullet that was chasing him.
"You're never getting away from me!" Kindra watched the tree tops carefully. Seeing a sudden movement, she shot her revolver again, and started into the tree.
Naoko looked back at her with a mortified look on his face and began to leap to the next branch to elude her persistent pursuit. He unsheathed his scy and took another leap to the next tree.
Kindra, hot on his heels mimicked his movements almost immediately. "He shall not feed on humans again..." she panted, leaping to the next branch.
"I know there's a building somewhere around here...." Naoko nervously muttered. "You're very persistent and psychotic!"
Kindra dove at him, knocking them both out of the tree, and into a yard. When they both recovered, Naoko started to jump for the odd building, but felt an odd pain in the back of his leg.
Kindra's revolver smoked as she watched him fall back to the ground from where she had shot him. She slowly approached him as she watched him writhe in the pain.
Naoko's watery eyes saw the sun, his natural enemy. He would die for no reason, in the sunlight, and in a prolonged pain. "At least I got to taste Amaretto one last time..." Naoko sighed, clutching his scy.
Raven felt an odd chill sweep over her, and almost in a daze she moved over to the window, opened it, and leapt the several odd stories to the ground, her nightgown fluttering in the wind as she landed in a crouched position. She stood quickly and looked about, "Oooh! Naoko!" She caught sight of him, though didn't focus long enough to see Kindra as she ran to his side, "You're hurt!" She said, kneeling beside him affectionately
.
"R-raven..." Naoko blushed. "I...was comming to visit..." He smirked as he saw Kindra from the corner of his eye. "The damn sun..." he whispered, shielding his eye as she sky faded to a light pink.
Raven stepped into the path of the sun, "We have to get you inside." She turned a steely glare to Kindra, pushing her hair out of her eyes, "Just what do you think that you're doing, injuring my poor Naoko?!" She demanded.
"He was conspiring with the zombies, and any associate, in my eyes should be killed." Kindra lowered her gun and watched Raven carefully.
"Ummm, fighting them and associating with them are two very different things." Naoko pointed out, laying his head cutely on Raven's leg.
"I also wasn't going to let him feast on the students att his school." Kindra placed her hands on her hips demandingly.
"I only like Raven's blood and Ameretto. I only hide here from the sun." Naoko pointed his finger in the air eloquently.
"Ohh..." Kindra was unsure whether or not to believe him, but by the look that Raven flashed her, she assumed that she had no choice.
"He wasn't going to feast on the student's blood..." Raven said, kneeling beside Naoko, "Not to mention... he just so happens to be terrified of zombies..."
"They're icky." Naoko whined. He licked her wrist playfully, nipping at her skin, nestling her wrist closer to him. "Pleeeeeeeease?" Naoko asked sweetly, flashing her his puppy eyes.
Raven rolled her eyes, and with a coy sigh she gave her assent, "Fine, love." She said, caving.
He smirked and clasped he wrist and licked it slowly releasing a hot breath where he licked, then showed his fangs as he bit into her flesh, sinking his fangs into the refreshing warm liquid and allowing himself to indulge in his second poison. He licked the last bit of blood from his lips and continued tosuck on Raven's wrist, for a few more seconds, until he regained his self control and stood up, wiping his mouth.
Raven lifted her wrist to her lips and licked the wound delicately until it faded into nothing more than a scar, "Feel better?" She asked.
"Much." Naoko assured her with a lick on her lips.
Kindra watched in awe as the bullet that she had just shot fell out of Naoko's freshly healed skin, the bullet, seemingly unfired from her revolver. "What are you?"
"I, my sweet," Naoko rushed before her as if there was no space before them within the blink of an eye, "am a vampire...." he leaned into as if he were going to kiss her, "and I know that you are a human, intrigued by men like me."
Raven sat down, grinning at Naoko, "So, wanna tell me why you were so late in getting back?" She asked, raising an eyebrow, "Besides the chase with her?" She asked, slightly envious because she wanted to be the one chasing Naoko, not some unnamed woman.
"My name is Kindra." Kindra was unsure how to react to Naoko's sudden interest in her.
"I was looking for..." Naoko repeated what he did to Kindra, his swift and somewhat seductive advance, "A present." Naoko held up a half bottle of Amaretto and an unopened bar of chocolate. "Do you forgive me?" he pouted
"Ohhh... Naoko..." Raven's eyes sparkled adoringly, "Give me the chocolate!" She ran over and snatched it from his hands quickly, giving him an adoring nuzzle before tearing into the bar.
"Are you dating?" Kindra blinked.
"Uhhh..." Naoko blushed, not quite sure how to react to the question.
"Well, you're blushing..." Kindra shrugged.
"That..that's the stupid sun hurting my pale skin!" NAoko blushed more, hiding himself behind Raven.
"Yeah! We should get you out of the sun!" Raven burst out, grabbing Naoko's hand and draggling him into the building as quickly as she could.
"Ummm..." Kindra shrugged and followed her, still curious about Naoko as he himself stated...but how he knew thatwas beyond her.
"I missed you..." Naoko muttered, nestling her into a hug.
"He goes from being seductive to childish..." Kindra blinked. "He's so cute!" Kindra began patting his head and stroking his hair affectionately. "I'm sorry!" Kindra joined their hug and nestled Naoko closer to her.
"I think I know who the luckiest man in the world is..." a man winked with thumbs up to Naoko as he passed them.
Naoko attempted to mask his embarrassment as more and more people pointed to him with jealous grins. "Ummm....may I leave?"
"No!" Kindra glared up at him, then affectionately snuggled him again.
"Hey!" Raven realized that Kindra was clinging to Naoko then, "Let go of Naoko! You just tried to kill him! That in no way gives you the right to snuggle! You're breaking the rules!" She pouted, shooting a glare at Kindra and attempting to pry her away from Naoko while snuggling closer to him at the same time.
"She's right." Naoko choked from the tight hugs.
"You're a virgin..." Kindra sighed, letting go of him.
"Huh?" Naoko blinked, confused, "What's a virgin?" Naoko blinked at Kindra.
"That's a definate..." Kindra muttered. "I could teach you..." Kindra offered.
"No! Naoko, cover your ears!" Raven gasped, glaring around his form at Kindra, "You can't teach him anything- especially not that!!" She released Naoko from her tight grasp in a rather unwilling manner.
Naoko struggled to breathe, "What's a virgin?--seriously." he blinked as others whispered as they passed. "You may fight over some weird voodoo thing, I on the other hand am hungry." Naoko started away from them.
"So, you're dating a hot guy like that and he doesn't know what a virgin is?" Kindra muttered as she watched Naoko walk away.
"W-we're not dating!" Raven blushed, "I have to go get dressed!" She quickly fled towards the elevators.
"I guess since I don't know my way around, I should follow the person I've known the longest." she innocently shrugged, running up to Naoko.
"Oh no you don't! You're coming with me!" Raven ran back to her, grabbed her arm, and dragged her to the elevator, not releasing Kindra until she'd closed the doors and hit the button for the sixth floor, panting for breath.
"I thought that you'd want some privacy changing and all." Kindra innocently whispered. "And if you're not dating Naoko, whydo you care so much?"
"For one- you're still contemplating teaching him what a virgin is, aren't you?" Raven glared at her accusingly, "And two- there is a changing screen. I share a room with about 4 other girls- you think that I haven't found a way to change without being seen?" She crossed her arms and straightened her spine, "Also I... I care about Naoko like a... like a brother! Yeah, that's it, he's like a little brother to me!!!"
"You're the most flirtatious syblings I've ever encountered." Kindra replied. "And I'm not going to teach him anything of the sort. Imyself am hungry as well." Kindra muttered as they both stepped off of the elevator. "Though that would be an interesting topic for breakfast..." Kindra stroked her chin thoughtfully.
"Well, now you've no choice but to wait until I get dressed before going to eat." Raven replied tersely. She stepped up to a door and twisted the knob to no affect, "Oh... I left the key in the room..." She growled, pounding on the door, waiting for somebody to awaken to the racket.
"I think demonstrating a virgin and not might be more fun and effective then simply explaining it--don't you?" Kindra crossed her arms and proudly allowed herself to fanasize about Naoko.
"No, no I don't." Raven said tersely as the door was opened.
"Raven?" A groggy girl who was a little shorter than she muttered, "I thought I saw you climb out the window... I thought I was dreaming though..." She yawned and crawled back into her bed, drifting off to sleep once more.
"So, silk, leather. velvet, satin, latex? what is the choice for today?" Kindra muttered as she plopped down on a bed. "Oh, and where does the little vampire sleep?"
"So, who was the new girl?" a random male asked Naoko who was eating a bowl of ice cream.
"Kindra...she tried to kill me, then she apologized then hugged me..." Naoko shrugged.
"Oh, Naoko? He sleeps in the closet." Raven said, opening the door and pushing her clothes aside to reveal a rather large space in which rested a king sized bed with black satin sheets.
"Ah. So, he doesn't kill humans?" Kindra asked, looking about at the other people, still asleep in the room.
"He used to... and then I found him and... well, he was converted." Raven winked, rummaging through her clothes until she pulled something out that she liked.
"Does he still nip?" Kindra blushed at her own thoughts.
"Nip?" Raven blinked, "Well... when he's thirsty he nips at my wrist..."
"I mean in bed." Kindra bluntly stated.
"You're so lucky...two women..." another passer patted his back.
"What? He has his own bed... haven't I pointed that out already?" Raven asked innocently.
"You really have never...with him...never thought about it...? Or wanted to?" Kindra's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Never did, thought, or wanted to do what?" Raven asked as she slipped behind the changing screen.
She reappeared with her bedclothes folded over one arm. Raven was dressed in a simple pair of black jeans that were torn in several places and a black blouse that was sewn with a purple thread.
