Chapter Eleven(A sunny spot)

The direct sunlight felt great on Molly's rust-colored fur. She couldn't help but shake it up a bit. There was a slight worry that she might not survive til the next day and Molly wanted to soak up all the sunlight she could and enjoy it. Turning around, she shifted into human form as she sat, waiting for Augustine.

Augustine was a few steps behind her. Knowing it would be hard to find the stitches in his fur and also knowing he'd have to roll on his back like a submissive bitch for Molly to reach them, Augustine turned human as well. He peeled his black tanktop off and plopped down in front of her, feeling awkward. He didn't expect Molly to accept him so quickly, and sitting here half clothed made him feel a little tense. This seemed a little too close too fast and he didn't know where the two of them stood. He just stayed silent, trying to look relaxed and grouchy.

"Looks like you healed up nicely, nothing but a scar. Mercie did a good job." Molly said, trying to remain professional and unmoved by his half nakedness. It was hard in this light, given that she could see every muscle on his chest and torso. Trying to keep her breathing slow, she leaned in and worked at the top most stitch. Mercie perhaps had done too much of a good job. The knot was too small for Molly to undo and during the process, she accidentally tugged on it.

Augustine made a tiny yip noise and flinched. "Watch it!" he cried and untensed. He narrowed his eyes, prepared for more pain.

"I am!" Molly shouted back on reflex. Lowering her voice, she leaned in more, this time almost on top of Augustine. "I can't get to these little knots. Stop being a big baby." she teased, this was nothing compared to giving birth to three puppies. After another few seconds of trying, Molly bowed her head to the stitches and lifted her top lip up. She used her canines to bite at the thread.

Augustine tried to lean away from her while she worked on the stitches, his back going rigid and his cheeks darkening. He twisted his head awkwardly to keep it out of her way and when she went down to cut the stitches with her teeth he flinched and nearly pushed her off in surprise. "Wha-?!" he began then stopped.

Molly leaned up and slowly pulled out the cut string. "One." she said, holding it up for Augustine to see. Cutting the string with her teeth was really the only way to do it and sure it was awkward as hell after all the two of them had been through, but... it had a strange nostalgia to it.

Augustine grimaced but remained silent when she pulled the string out and when she held it up all playfully he felt a sudden wave of arousal and alost swore out loud. "Hurry...." he said tensely, the awkwardness mounting like bricks on his back.

Molly held the next stitch carefully in her fingers. Leaning in once more, she bit down on it with her teeth. After a second of realizing it wasn't snapping, Molly rolled it between her teeth until it came free. Again, she repeated her actions and slowly eased out the thread.

Augy clenched his teeth and winced to the side, his expression a mixture of embarrassment and pain. "Quicker..." he said nervously through his teeth.

"Oh come on, it doesn't hurt that bad. And what is hell is the rush? I'm trying to be careful." Molly said, shooting him a look before she looked down, working at the third stitch.

Augustine sighed, hoping Molly would be too focused on the stitched to notice the third leg in his pants. This was really inappropriate with the current circumstances. He was planning on pushing her over and sprinting into the woods when she was done so she'd never know.

Molly was starting to find a decent pace in removing the stitches, though the proximity of how close she had to get to his bare chest was still nerve wracking. While biting the string, Molly took gentle whiffs of his scent and took comfort in it. She had once been in love with him after all. Without thinking, Molly had placed an open hand on his abdomen.

Augustine closed his eyes and tried not to whimper. This was beyond pathetic. Plus, she probably thought he was being a wuss. His hand started to furiously tap the ground in his panicked impatients.

"It's probably going to be agitated for a while." Molly explained. As she progressed with removing the stitches, she noticed the area was starting to get inflamed. "You know what though- it was your fault I fell into the pit to begin with." she teased.

"Mmh. Yeah," he said in an oddly tight voice. He gave no further comment and made sure his head was turned away from her so she wouldn't see his red face.

"That's it!?" Molly asked with a slightly raised tone. "I could've died, you know." With that, she purposely tugged a bit harder on a stitch.

Augustine let out a weird horrified "Nnnngh!" and froze, breathing slowly. He had come so close to cumming there. He couldn't believe he was getting off on this. "Sorry!" he squeaked, just to make her stop. It was probably the first time he had said that ever.

Molly couldn't help but smile. It was nice hearing an apology from Augustine. It was just too bad that he needed to say a lot more of them for the shit he put her through. Content for the time being, Molly went on and carefully removed another stitch after biting it.

"Are you almost done?" he whimpered in a voice that seemed way too pathetic for Augustine to make.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Molly asked, biting another thread and pulling it out. "Did you put up this big of a fit when Mercie sewed you up?"

"Stop talking and finish!" he said rather urgently. He had no idea how to come out of this situation without looking ridiculous.

"Fine!" Molly said angrily, practically ripping out the last one. What the hell was wrong with Augustine so suddenly? They were getting along just fine moments ago.

Augustine yelped, his lip trembled and he rolled onto his back, his knees bent to his chest. "Nononono..." he kept saying to himself, trying to calm down and not soak his pants. He didn't even want to know what Molly was thinking. It was pretty much too late for him not to look like an idiot.

Alright now Molly knew something wasn't right. She was oblivious to what. Had she really hurt him before? No way! Molly knew that he was tougher then that.. She waited a moment before inching towards him. "Augustine? Are you alright? I'm sorry..." she said, primarily because she didn't know what to say.

"I'm ok. I'm gonna need leave for a few minutes... but I'm ok," he said while refusing to move in fear of exposing himself.

Molly was starting to become more concerned then confused at this point. Was he sick? She really didn't know what to do. What Molly knew for certain is that she didn't want to leave him alone in this state...whatever it may be. Scooting a few feet away to give him some space, she waited.

Augustine craned his neck to look at her over his legs. "... Can you go away?" he asked, his eyes narrow and intense but the rest of his expression looking a bit freaked.

Molly figured he was just being stubborn and was in no way leaving the area until he told her what was wrong. Getting to her feet, she brushed her pants off and walked over. "Augustine, what's going on?" she asked with a pained expression. Molly was very worried about his health...maybe his wound had gotten an infection that was eating him away from the inside? "You don't have to act all macho in front of me."

"Holy shit, Molly, get the fuck away. Trust me, I'm fine," he growled, hugging his leg protectively to his chest.

"Then what the fuck is all of this?" she asked, gesturing to his fetal position. Because he had growled at her, Molly's tone was more accusing then concerned.

Augustine let his head roll back and he let out an angry yell followed by "Molly! This sucks, go away!" Unfortunately for him, the threat of discovery was kinda hot too. Things were just not working out.

Augustine had to know by now that Molly had just as of a fiery temper as he did. "I'm not leaving! What sucks? Stomach ache? What?!" Molly bent down and grabbed his leg, thinking he was hiding something on his stomach.

"Agh!" he yelped. "Molly, it's embarrassing! just back off!" And now she was being all forceful. Had he not abandoned her and their kids, he would be loving this up right now, but at the moment, it seemed a bit wrong.

At that, Molly let him go. She connected the pieces and made a twisted expression. Was he? ...Did he? There really was no other explanation for Augustine's strange tone and awkwardness. Not to mention why he rushed her earlier. Biting off the stitches was an intimate moment after all. "Augustine...?" she asked lightly.

Augustine let out a disgruntled moan, lowered his legs and rolled onto his stomach, his face straight down in the grass. He awkwardly wagged on of his hands at Molly in a sort of begone gesture.

Molly bit her lip and started to smile. She knew something like that couldn't be controlled. Not to mention seeing Augustine in such a helpless, degrading state warmed her heart a bit. If anything, Molly was flattered. The poor thing...
Kneeling down beside him, Molly rubbed a flat hand on Augustine's shoulder and back. She hoped it would comfort him in knowing that she wouldn't hold anything against him or even bring it up later.

At first he gave an angry sounding groan but then he gave up. Finding that squishing his nose into the ground wasn't as comfortable as he had first assumed, he turned his head away from Molly and scowled into the woods.

Molly started to gently scratch up and down his back without a word. She was starting to realize that there was a part of her, a rather large part, that still loved Augustine. Even though he had ran away from his fathering duties, he was still her mate after all this time.

This felt nice, but Molly's behavior seemed too nice. Augustine came back knowing full well Molly would hate him, but as long as he kept her and the pups safe he didn't care. "What are you doing?" he asked, sounding a little muffled since the ground was smooshing half of his face.

"Scratching your back." she said simply.

"Why?" he asked then the thought struck him she must be pitying him for making a fool of himself. He went immediately back to scowling and waited for Molly to say some lie that would cause him to storm off like usual.

"Because I want to." Molly replied.

Augustine puffed angrily into the grass, but instead of getting up like he intended, he found himself entirely too comfortable to move.

Molly thought it best to wait a while before she suggested that they get back to the group. She was enjoying herself all too much as well. More so then she would ever like to admit! Her nails gently scratched up his spine, down his sides, then to his shoulders again.

It kinda tickled in a good way, and was also sorta hypnotic. Augustine couldn't help but let his eyes glaze over and his face go limp. If only his leg had started twitching it would have been painfully obvious how dog like he was.

It was funny how something so awkward could unexpectedly make things fall into place. Molly had no doubt that Augustine wasn't going to stay this content when they returned to the group, so she did the best she could and enjoyed it with him. She started to itch on the back of his neck gently.

His eyelids fluttered and his toes curled. He had only ever received affection from Molly, and it was usually few and far between with all their fighting. Now that he hadn't seen her in months it was pretty much the most awesome thing ever. For the moment, he couldn't give a shit about anything.

Molly stayed quiet. She knew that anything she said might set Augustine off on some wild tangent. Flattening her hand now, Molly rubbed over the areas she had scratched.

His eyes fully closed at this. Every so often the corner of his mouth would twitch and his eyebrows would shift, but besides that he was as still as a corpse.

After another minute or so, Molly slowed her hand to a stop on his back. Leaning forward, she wanted to see his expression but he was facing the other way, "You're not drooling, are you?" she grinned.

Half asleep he let out a groggy, "wha-?" and scooted onto his elbows, blinking and wincing in the sunlight. He sniffed a few times and seemed to take a while to process what she said, he lifted a hand to his mouth, wiped it and blatantly lied, "No."

"Sun feels good, doesn't it?" she asked, lifting her hand from his back when he moved.

"I guess," he said rolling over, one of his legs straight, the other bent. While looking at her now, he felt a great emotional surge and like always, it freaked him out. He coughed into his elbow and glanced back towards the den. "So, uh..." he looked at her expectantly, hoping she'd just say something. "What's the plan?"

"Well-" Molly started, adjusting onto her butt next to him, "Taking down the excavators shouldn't be too hard. There is a huge blind spot in the rear and the primary weakness is the human driving it. There are at least ten of them, max. We have not yet seen the machines and the mutants at the same time, but odds are they are working together. I just hope that when we take down the excavators, they don't show up." Her expression got very worried. "I have no idea how many of those things are out here or how to beat them." With that, Molly tucked her head into her shoulders a bit. She didn't feel like a very good alpha as of late.

Augustine didn't really know how to reply. He really had no idea what to do about those things either. He was used to being stronger or at least as strong as his foes. If those things had gotten a hold of him earlier, he wouldn't've had a chance. "Don't worry," said Augustine confidently. "Leave them to me."

Although Augustine had managed to get rid of two of them on his own, he nearly got himself killed in the process. But- he did it all to save her and just admitted that he would do it again. Molly knew that he was just trying to make her feel better but...it was working. "Thank you." she smiled, unable to hide it.

His lips pulled to the side in a dreamy crooked smile. "When's all this excavator destruction gonna happen?" he asked, hoping she'd say something like 'tomorrow' so they're have more peace time together.

"Today- preferably after we all have eaten something. However, it seems that all the big game has left. Nothing but rabbits, squirrel and fox now." Molly explained, lifting her knees to her chest. "-And for all we know, they all left during the night." The forest was a war zone by this point.

"We better get to hunting then," he said though he really didn't want to. Moments like this were super rare for the two, so even though he suggested they get moving, he didn't budge and inch.

Molly adjusted and went to get to her feet. In doing so, she dropped her human illusion and proceeded on four paws. She stepped ahead and looked back at Augustine, waiting for him.

Reluctantly, Augustine got up and shifted into his wolf form again. He walked up beside her and waited for her to lead the way.

Molly smirked and walked with Augustine towards the den. Even though she knew it wouldn't always be like this, it was nice while it lasted. Her tail swayed casually from side to side with a slight bounce as she walked.
