How to Anger Shade
Shade walked into his house and was shocked when he wasn’t bombarded by stupid ideas from the two acolytes who were persistent and annoying. He closed the door, glancing into the living room as he passed for the two idiotic men and blinked in confusion when he didn’t find them.
“Rich, Roy, are either of you here?” he called into the kitchen. He placed the container of coffee in the cupboard and pulled the cigarette cartons from the bag, setting them on the kitchen table. “What the…where are they?” he asked as he started to open the refrigerator door, catching a glimpse of a note addressed to him.
Master, we have a BIG surprise for you! Come to the basement/sacri
ficial chambers to see! Signed: Rich and Roy, your underlings and biggest fans.
“Oh by the dark God,” Shade set the milk on the top shelf and stormed into the basement, expecting the worst possible scenario. “What the hell are you two idiots doing?” he snapped when he saw a young girl dressed in white tied down onto an altar and surrounded by six black candles that were lit with a dagger at the girls’ right.
He drew closer to the ritual he was interrupting and stopped, wide-eyed and jaw-dropped. “Windfire,” he whispered.
“Master you’re just in time. We were hoping we could show you our initiation without having to film it,” Rich said with a grin.
“Your big idea was to sacrifice a woman?” Shade asked in disbelief.
“Virgin sacrifice of a white witch,” Roy clarified.
Shade couldn’t stifle his laughter. “You think she’s a virgin?”
“Well, even if she isn’t she is a white witch and that means more power to us,” Rich said with a wicked grin.
“I am going to kill both of you1” Shade snarled, his deep eyes flaring with angry passion.
“N-Night Shade?” Windfire asked weakly.
“I’m here,” he assured her as he darted over to the altar of sacrifice. He removed her blindfold and untied her quickly, shoving all of the candles on the right of the altar to the floor, including the dagger. “How’d you get here?”
“I woke up ad was attacked by those two,” she said weakly, clinging to Shade’s arm.
Shade took a closer look at her attire. His eyebrows knitted together before he spoke, “This isn’t one of yours…”
She looked down at the white gown that also left little to the imagination, but was a little more covering than the black nightgown she had worn to Shade’s house. “No, I was in my black night gown that you bought me when I went to bed last night.”
“You changed her?” Shade snarled, his eyes flashing more anger toward the men.
“Well, yes…” Roy gulped, second-guessing their plot.
“I do not sacrifice anything. You two had better get the hell out of my sight if you enjoy life,” Shade snapped at the two, sending them back up the stairs quickly, hoping their plan would work.
“Shade…” she whispered, cuddling closer to him.
“Let’s get you home,” Shade said, scooping her off the table and holding her with ease and pleasure in his arms.
“No more portals,” she begged, snuggling against him and loving his intoxicating smell.
Shade agreed and continued walking down the street with her in his arms. “Can you walk?” he asked, hoping they hadn’t also drugged her.
“I don’t know,” she muttered as he slowly set her down. She stood with ease, leaning on him. “I think so,” she smiled.
He blushed when he got a good look at her in all white, even if she was barely covered. “Here,” Shade said, unbuttoning his shirt. He handed it to her, not minding the morning chill on his bare back and chest. She fit his clothing surprisingly well, pulling it over her chest and up to her face, taking a quick sniff of his fresh scent. “You’re not very sneaky,”
“What?”” she blushed, “I’m cold!”
“Oh and I don’t smell good?” Shade asked, knowing he had hit the right spot.
“Of course you do,” Windfire replied shyly. She stared up at Shade who was watching her expectantly. “Yes?”
“You are amazing,” he said shaking his head.
“And keeping your shirt.”
“What?” Shade stopped, staring at her as she walked onward.
She turned around and flashed him a flirty smile, “You heard me.”
He blinked once and smirked, remembering her subtle ways of hinting at arousal. Shade caught up to her and was walking in-step with her, hoping to rouse the intense emotions he had felt the night before. They walked in near silence to her house where he didn’t stop until they reached her porch.
She stared at him, sensing more human in him than warlock at that moment. “Why does this feel like the end of a long anticipated date?”
“Was it a long anticipated date?” Shade asked, even though he knew the answer.
“Too long,” Windfire admitted in a huff.
“Oh really?” Shade asked, leaning closer to her.
