Rotmos

Rotmos is a Swedish word and could be translated as "mashed roots". It's kind of like mashed potatoes, but it gets special because there's also carrots and most important: rutabagas.

What you need:

1 rutabaga
5 potatoes (it doesn't need to be exactly five)
5 carrots (same as with the potatoes)
salt
black pepper
1 bouillon cube

Start by peeling the rutabaga and the carrots, cut them into small pieces and boil them for 30 minutes. While they're in there, start peeling the potatoes and also cut them into small pieces, throw these potatoe pieces into the water when there's 10 minutes left of the 30 minutes. Throw in the boullion cube. When the 30 minutes are over, you pour away the water, but save some of it - you'll need it when you're mashing the vegetables to make the mash (the rotmos) juicy. Use an electric handmixer to mash the vegetables, and pour the boiled water you need to make it nice and juicy. Use salt and pepper to make it taste good.

Serve the rotmos with fried, salty slices of pork, bacon or sausages. In the picture you also see some good lingonberry jam, unfortunately it can be hard to find outside Scandinavia. Then I suggest a visit to IKEA, or adding some other kind of jam or sauce you like!
