Elftown Mall wiki-comments

2008-12-12 [Hedda]: A very small selection of shops so far, but I hope some more will parter up soon.

2008-12-12 [Hedda]: You can go to this page by clicking on "Shop" up to the right.

2008-12-12 [Linderel]: Play.com - http://www.play.com :3

2008-12-12 [arthemis_]: Does anyone know a good Dutch fantasy-store?

2008-12-12 [Hedda]: Play.com unfortunately uses https://www.affiliatewindow.com/ which demands £5 from me to try it, so I'll not try it unless I see that I really can sell anything here.

2008-12-12 [Linderel]: I schee.

2008-12-12 [JaeMarix]: Musn't forget about http://www.noblecollection.com/
Once upon a time long, long ago I bought a gold & silver laser inscribed One Ring..
I miss it :'(

2008-12-12 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: http://www.japanimation.com/ Is a great store in the US for Otaku... er... anime geeks! I've shopped there plenty of times! ^^

2008-12-12 [JaeMarix]: http://store.xkcd.com/
xkcd is one of the reasons i stay sane during one of these slow workdays.. ~.~

2008-12-12 [Anvikit]: Anything on www.etsy.com it's got a ton of little shops full of handmade items from all sorts of artisans. :)

2008-12-12 [Hedda]: I applied to http://www.noblecollection.com/ 's affiliate program, but they are at LinkShare which sucks.

I couldn't find a affiliate program for http://www.japanimation.com/

http://store.xkcd.com/ doesn't have any as far as I see.

Etsy doesn't have one either (yet):
http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=5524495

Thanks for the tips!

2008-12-12 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Daww, okay.

2008-12-12 [JaeMarix]: My heart broke just a little bit looking @Etsy & knowing never in a lifetime can I afford a dress that was worn in teh 70s.. sad day :'(
No affiliate program = No fun! We need to find even Cooler websites for you Hedda!

2008-12-12 [JaeMarix]: http://www.goreydetails.net/affiliates.php
Awesome site & Affiliate program ready! ;)

2008-12-12 [Ghost the Hybrid]: you should put up www.aya.nu for people that liks anime and manga, hello kitty or just is interested in things that is a bit different it's a swedish page but some of it is written in english

2008-12-12 [Skydancer]: eeeemmm have you looked at http://www.newegg.com for affiliation?

2008-12-12 [Hedda]: http://www.goreydetails.net/affiliates.php uses www.shareasale.com so I'll sign up for them. They can pay direct-deposits to Sweden, so it's a good network. <img:stuff/dand-gif.gif>

2008-12-12 [Hedda]: [Ghost the Hybrid]: As long as it's not written in Skånska, I can understand Swedish... <img:stuff/zabuN-gif.gif>

2008-12-12 [Hedda]: Aya.nu doesn't have a affiliate program though.

2008-12-13 [Hedda]: I applied to http://www.newegg.com but they only pay 1% referral rate, so they have to sell damn much to be worth displaying...

2008-12-13 [Skydancer]: ah.... well, they are a very good place to buy stuff, most of my computer is from there. :)

2008-12-13 [Skydancer]: http://www.abebooks.com/books/AffiliateProgram/
Not sure if Powell has a program http://www.powells.com/
http://www.excaliburbrothers.com/site/697427/page/1337235

2008-12-13 [One With Nothing]: How about some furry faerie hats? =) My friend Holly makes them and sells them in Seattle... I'm quite certain every Elftowner should have one.

http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=61653

2008-12-13 [Hedda]: [Skydancer]: I guess I have to hope for that someone buys a supercomputer for $1000 000 through that link... I do get more (2%, I think) if people buy insanely much.

Oh, so Abebooks is in .com too... I better check the others too. Thanks!

2008-12-13 [Hedda]: www.abebooks.com had started to use Google Affiliate program, that don't do direct deposits to Sweden. Not worth it.

2008-12-13 [Saray]: Thinkgeek is awesome! They have so much fun and geeky stuff :)

I still have my eyes on the chewbacca plushy backpack and that led glow crystal necklace :P

2008-12-13 [Hedda]: Powell has a program, but checks only. Same with Excaliburbrothers. I'll stay to Commission Junction and TradeDoubler, it seems. <img:stuff/mood8-gif.gif>

I still doubt anyone will buy something through these links. Experience shows that people look at the links there, and then they go direct to the merchant some other time without clicking here.

2008-12-13 [sub zero]: cool

2008-12-13 [Skydancer]: Hmmmmmm. welll hmmmm. "Thinks!!"

2008-12-14 [Ghost the Hybrid]: how about www.sfbok.se ?

2008-12-14 [Hedda]: sfbok doesn't have an affiliate program, it seems.

The Noble Collection and Sierra Trading Post don't want Elftowners as customers and told us to fuck off.

2008-12-14 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Whoa... why would they say that?

2008-12-14 [Artsieladie]: How rude! It's their loss! <img:stuff/mood8-gif.gif>

2008-12-15 [Fire fae]: <.< *shamelessly suggest her own online shops*
http://www.cafepress.com/Firefae
http://www.cafepress.com/melwe

2008-12-15 [Skydancer]: how weird for people to do something like that, you would think they would be happy to have such a large base of users seeing their stuff.

2008-12-15 [Artsieladie]: Yeah seriously! Maybe they aren't interested in any more business? Some businesses I find have such attitudes, though, like they are doing YOU a favour by their mere existence or something. Whatevah happened to the days when businesses appreciated their customers and welcomed new ones? :P

2008-12-15 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Maybe they just instantly assumed that Elftowners are like Myspacers... >=(!

2008-12-15 [Hedda]: The problem is that I don't know why they denied the application. It can be that Elftown was too small for them to bother with, that Elftown was doing a backup then, that they think that elves are dorky or that they think that they will get no new customers and only pay for their old ones.

2008-12-15 [Dragonous]: A lot of bussisnises get the money and forget the first rule of sales: The Customer is ALWAYS right. <img:stuff/sutN.gif>

2008-12-15 [Anvikit]: So this is just for affiliate programs? Not for good quality online shops?

Maybe you should add that to the description.. so people don't keep suggesting really nice places.. .. that can't be added just because they have no affiliate..

I thought this was gonna be more like artsy sites, and places to find things made by members, and other handmade things, and geeky stuff that we are all into..

2008-12-15 [Artsieladie]: Hmm... [Dragonous], it seems to be a motto that's fading fast, though. I built my business on 'word of mouth', not advertising. When you have happy and very satisfied customers, they will not only return, but they will do all of your advertising FOR YOU AND in doing so, they promote your business by automagically giving their approval and so, their recommendation. <img:stuff/cheshmak.gif>

2008-12-15 [Hedda]: [Anvikit]: You're very welcome to suggest other shops/sites, but I'll not put them up unless they give me money because that wouldn't be fair to the ones who do.

Another bonus with the affiliate programs is that I can see exactly what you buy through the links and I can therefore recommend things that interest Elftowners and remove shops that fail to sell to Elftowners.

Almost all shops have affiliate programs and if they haven't, they are probably too small and unimportant anyway.

By the way: I just got accepted to ShareASale, so now I have some 2440 more programs to select from... The ShareASale network has a lot very small and odd places though, so it's hard to find something there unless I know what to search for.

2008-12-15 [Artsieladie]: <img:stuff/ThumbsUp_Wh_Mood.gif><img:stuff/cheshmak.gif>

2008-12-15 [Hedda]: I have to point out that no one has bought anything here yet (unless you bought it today)... Some hundred clicks though, but unfortunately, I don't get paid for them.

I hope it becomes better when I've sorted out the really good shop and you can start rating them.

2008-12-16 [Hedda]: Things From Another World is nice enough not only to give me a bonus, but also a free shipping for you who go through that link. What a nice way to tread Elftowners! <img:stuff/dand-gif.gif>

Then you really have a reason to shop via Elftown instead of just bookmarking them.

2008-12-16 [Hedda]: Time to get those Angel and Buffy albums! <img:stuff/cheshmak.gif>

Oh, they have an Angel Puppet! I loved that episode! <img:stuff/exitedN-gif.gif>

2008-12-16 [Dragonous]: the angel puppet that kicked Spikes @$$? cool might get that for my girlfriend she loves angel.

2008-12-16 [Dragonous]: uh maybe not $200 is a bit much

2008-12-16 [Hedda]: Yea, they should have a smaller one.

2008-12-16 [Hedda]: Printing services is updated, but still nothing from USA.

Scandinavia, NL and UK are covered though. The mugs were quite expensive (about $10) and I don't know what the shipping is, but it would be a great gift!

Hm... Maybe I should start to sell mugs with the content on www.cathug.com/3.sex to all the thousands of people visiting it. Unfortunately "missnöje" isn't as fun in Turkish (It's mostly Google Turkey and a little Google Poland that promote that page, don't ask me why).

"missnöje" means "dissatisfaction", but "miss" is the base of "misse"="cat" and "nöje"="pleasure"...

2008-12-18 [Skydancer]: <img:stuff/skychocolatechip256.png>

2008-12-18 [Artsieladie]: Oooh! Another [Skydancer] cookie! Yummy! If I had a camera, I'd take some pictures of my Christmas goodies I'm baking. ;P

2008-12-19 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Omg! COOKIE! It looks like a Subway cookie >.>;

2008-12-19 [Skydancer]: I take a cookie batch that would make 12 and make four. :)

2008-12-19 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Four mega cookies? o.o

2008-12-19 [Skydancer]: Exactly. Each one about the size of a small dinner plate. :)

2008-12-19 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Oh that sounds sooo good! And that's a neat idea too! I'm going to have to try that some time! ^-^

2008-12-19 [Artsieladie]: Small dinner plate size! Now that's a cookie and a half! :)

2008-12-19 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: I saw the picture of it on his house! That was a pretty dinner plate too. XD!

2008-12-19 [Skydancer]: I have a thing about blue kitchen ware. :) sort of collect it.

2008-12-22 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Oooh! I love blue! My dinner sets are red and black. One of my favourite colour combos. And also ice blue and silver/white is my other!

2009-01-05 [Hedda]: New:
10% discount from Buy.com

2009-01-06 [Hedda]: And they even promise to sell books 10% cheaper than Amazon!

Now I'm missing a Screw-You-smiley!<img:stuff/dand-gif.gif>

2009-01-06 [Skydancer]: ohhh cheaper than amazon... nifty..

2009-01-06 [Artsieladie]: Hmm.. books. I'm looking at http://www.buy.com/ currently. A screw-you smiley? lol That's even way too nice for Amazon! <img:stuff/mood5-gif.gif>

2009-01-06 [Hedda]: I hope Elftowners can save some money.

You get 10% and I get 5%! Doesn't seem fair to me, but it should be OK for you. <img:stuff/cheshmak.gif>

2009-03-12 [de Morte]: Hobbytron is a big rip off... when I ordered from there they scratched off all the logos and didn't even send the manual.

2009-04-13 ASANEA: Yummy, I like the cookie! We have food too: www.minifoodjewelry.com

2010-10-09 [pixish]: 'selection' is missing an 'e' in the first sentence :)

Edit: And the mail order comics link doesn't work

2010-10-12 [Hedda]: Thanks, [pixish]. Fixed!

2011-02-18 [FuriousPixieTri ckory]: what is this for?
