2009-05-13 [Elmiira]: Rachel, I think it would count as manipulation, and I doubt any camera could do that.. At least it's certainly not the same as totally sepia photo, I think. I personally don't mind manipulating, but as the rules now state that any kind of manipulation except for turning it black and white or sepia is forbidden, then partly sepia photos are too. It's a thing you cannot do with a film camera, while producing your own photo in a lab. :P I think we should go with the rules, so there's not so much confusion.

I took up Violin some time ago, but set it down as I became aware of the arduous task(s) demanded of a Classical Musician. That's not to say I am not interested in being a Classical musician, just a Classical Percussionist to be more precise ;).

As a quick side note, this is an amazing conversation! You are a wonderful writer, very articulate I can tell. :) :)

The way I see it: I agree that painting is more of a physical visual aspect, whereas music is a visual with your minds-eye image. Which paintings can be a minds-eye based upon interpretation, but music can create any images in your mind that your subconcious can think of. 

For me.....with music I like to delve into it and listen to all the hidden sounds that are in the background and not easily heard when just listening to a song. But to focus intently on it, to hear every single creation of vibration in a piece, it's incredible. To hear all the different notes that a voice can create in depth, again it's incredible.

Well, to be honest, I hope I spelled it right, as I'm aware there are many words with the same phonetic spelling, but different meanings(homonyms??). I don't mind it, it's a good quality; it bugs people due to the fact that they're probably lazy enough to not want to correct their own mistakes and try to find meaning in those of others, or something.

I wouldn't try too hard, it's chalk full of errors in sentence structure and phrasing due to the fact that my writing style is inspired by the more ternary forms of Classical music and death metal with their cyclic motion and resurgent themes: damn you Wagner...:)

In any case, you've pretty much hit the nail square on the head: one in hand is worth more than two in the bushes, so to speak.

2009-05-25 [Linderel]: No, no, now I was just genuinely curious. But if they were indeed two separate pictures that you put together in a program after you took them from the camera, that's against the rules - the way I see them, anyway. Others may disagree, and I could be wrong. :P
Also, I did not see that you had replaced the image, sorry.
And it's not about wanting less creativity, it's about respecting the rules.
