A Darkness Descends

Imagine. Someone grabs you. You struggle against him, but it's no use, he is much stronger than you. You calm yourself and concentrate just enough for a slight Pull. He falls, letting go of your arms in his surprise. You look down at him, your green eyes calm as roots pull themselves from the ground and wrap themselves around him, restraining him.

Imagine. You are surrounded by battle and sea. The villains have thrown grappling hooks and are preparing to board. Your eyes shift sightly towards the bow of the ship, you can see the water. A Pull and a Push, and there is a wall of it crashing onto the decks of the enemy ship, snapping the lines and washing away much of her crew.

Imagine. You are deep in a dark wood. Someone stalks you. Your eyes begin to blaze. This is the last mistake he will ever make. You turn. Flames trail after your fingers in an elegant fiery ribbon. You release the flame and it hurtles toward your adversary. He is engulfed. You stand and calmly watch as he is consumed.

Imagine. You are in a strange ruin. You Feel darkness, evil intent. An invisible attack is launched upon your very Spirit. If you do not react, you will be Crushed. You Push back, breaking its grasp. You launch your own attack, Pushing against the Spirit. Finally, something breaks and the dark Spirit is Crushed. You bow your head.

Earth, the most stable. Water, the most practical. Fire, the most violent. Spirit, the most uncommon and volatile. These are the Elements, the tools of the Kymar. The Kymar were great beings, taller than the tallest Humans, stronger than the strongest Dwarfs, more wise than the wisest of the Elves. They were marked by great beauty and grace, their hair was often long, flowing yellow-gold, silvery-white, or sometimes deep auburn down their backs. They were the descendants of the divine, and were revered by all the races. They stayed within their own kingdom, welcoming dignitaries of the other races who came to the great cities of Laslaundius for advice, but never going out into the other kingdoms of the land. But that was many ages ago.

Much has changed in the past few millennia. Laslaundius, the kingdom of the Kymar, is now unified only on the surface. In reality they are divided; cut into four segregated sub-kingdoms. These four kingdoms have slowly developed into their own separate races of Kymar. The High Ones, the Forest Dwellers, the Seafarers, and the Dark Ones.

The Dark Kymar are the outcasts, mostly High Kymar who were exiled from society for crimes unspeakable. For centuries they have hidden deep within the darkest forests of Laslaundius, growing stronger and ever more bitter. Now they have all united under the banner of one Dark Kymar by the name of Phyerstorme. Phyerstorme has sent his emissary and prodigy, Rayne Phyerstorme, to negotiate the re-admittance of the Dark Kymar into the rest of Kymar society. But when Rayne discovered his true intent to destroy the rest of the Kymar, she turned against him, forsaking his name, and now crusades to bring a stop to his madness.

Darkness Descends is a fantasy roleplay created by me, [~Valkyrie~].
The Kymar are a race of my own creation and cannot be used for purposes outside this roleplay.

Now that that is out of the way, have a look around. I am going to try hard to keep this roleplay moving and interesting, while still trying to move slowly enough for those of you who actually have lives. I am going to say right here and now that characters in this roleplay will be a bit more powered than what many on this site will be used to, just roll with it, have some fun.

Also, don't bother to ask if you can join. Of course you can. *smiles kindly* Just read through the rules and information page, then send me the bio for the character you want to play and/or any questions you might have. We'll talk then.

2010-07-09 [~Valkyrie~]: lol, ok, thanks. I was just wondering. :)
Are you going to join maybe?

2010-07-09 [Linderel]: Might I point you to the 'view diff' button? It won't show stuff like change of owner, but it's useful for spotting changes on the page itself. :)
I thought about it... but I probably won't. I can't guarantee regular participation, which would kind of suck for the rest of you.

2010-07-09 [Asdroth]: It would be nice if you did!

2010-07-09 [~Valkyrie~]: Ok, thanks.
You can, I'm going to try to keep it moving at a slowish pace. Quick enough to stay interesting, but slow enough for people who actually have lives outside the internet, lol. Gee, what must that be like? :p

2010-07-09 [Asdroth]: you are kidding right love?

2010-07-09 [Linderel]: I'll consider it. No promises, though. :)

2010-07-09 [~Valkyrie~]: lol, about what, lover?
Alright, well, we'd love to have you.

2010-07-09 [Albireo the Lost]: I'll turn some attention to this after today, or at least after my chores. Expect character conventions to be bent for the purposes of my creativity.

If this is a problem, now would be a great time to mention it.

2010-07-09 [Asdroth]: I can tell you do not mess with the way the Kymar magic works, or there racial structure. However all other races magic systems are up to the creativity of the writer, and need to be approved by me before use. Please have fun, and remember if you mix two Kymar races then you end up having him stronger in one power and weaker in the other. If you like scents His Angel will be gone all day I can tell you if your all good to play when you are done with Character creation, and remember the number one rule have fun!

2010-07-09 [Albireo the Lost]: First: You DO know who I am...right?

Second: Since I've hated the Kymar since they were created, rest assured I have no desire to play one.

Third: My character concept revolves around negating magic...so yeah.

2010-07-09 [Asdroth]: Yes James I know who you are. I still do not get why you Hate the Kymar, and if you hate them so much then i do not get why you want to play in a game where the world is damn near ran by them.

2010-07-10 [Albireo the Lost]: Then you obviously don't know me very well then do you?

I dislike the Kymar because they are simply too generic, and remind me of a hundred different fantasy races. I guess to say I dislike them is slight;y unfair, I simply don't LIKE them. And the Kymar/Dark Kymar thing is far too reminiscent of the Sartan/PAtryn interplay, or even simply Elves vs. Dark Elves. I understand the need for some people to explore the explored. I don't disrespect her for having created a race like so many others, because that's how some people operate, while I am known for breaking conventions and creating things not only unusual, but usual downright counter-intuitive.

It's just a huge different in writing style, and my character should demonstrate how different my ideology is from the world damn near run by Kymar. I do plan to spice up the story a bit, and yu might even consider me an antagonist. That's your view, but in my view it's all to just make a better story, and to turn the otherwise mostly bland history of the Kymar into something actually pretty interesting.

Anyways, Character up in a few minutes.

2010-07-10 [~Valkyrie~]: How very flattering of you to say. -_-

2010-07-15 [Mrs Vicious.]: derp derp derp.

2010-07-15 [Asdroth]: Don't worry he is not relay playing.

2010-08-10 [Araglas]: I should have my character done in a bit, I hope it isn't to late to be a part of this wiki?

2010-08-10 [~Valkyrie~]: That's great! It sorta died out so this is a perfect time to bring in a new character or two to jump-start it. :)

2010-08-10 [Araglas]: lol cool!!

2012-02-06 [Asdroth]: I like the game ;P

2012-02-06 [~Valkyrie~]: So do I. I think we should try to revamp and restart it once we get moved.

2012-02-07 [Asdroth]: that would be a great idea
