Acco City Library

Supposedly boring, but it stores a wealth of information (if you know where to look in it intimidating labyrinth. There are a few who know, including an old man who works behind the counter. Nobody knows his name (Old Man, or for another nickname that stuck, Grandpa) or even if he works there. There's suspicions that he's not human. All anybody knows is that it seems he's read every single book in the library, is always willing to help with oddly current information, and is never intimidated. Especially not with the rifle 'hidden' behind his desk. Even the most desperate of people usually leave him well enough alone. But if one uses 'please' and 'thank you' he will usually give up information.

The library is also the home to a surprising number of shootouts.

Day 1

Hidden in the rafters and unusually tall bookshelfs rested the Glass Viper, ignoring the few people she saw in respect for the Old Man. He had given her permission to stay there; for a price. Keeping an eye out for any Hunters, she yawned toothily and continued to catnap.

Alice strolled into the library, a cup of coffee in her hand and a mildly tired expression on her face. She hadn't slept well the night before, having dreamed about shadowy figures and running through dark alleys. To put her mind at ease she had come to the library to look into the killings a bit more. At this point she was pretty sure there wasn't a pattern, but she wanted to go over the recent newspaper articles to be certain.

Watching her closely, Glasica crept along the rafters. She had heard some whispers about a mysterious Twilight, who had been killing without reason, not collecting bounties. "Bah." She whispered to herself. These humanoids, so pushed by money, and civilization. Made this place a good hunting ground. However, now that she had a name for herself, she had to be more careful, which was why she kept herself hidden for the most part.

Looking down at her watch Alice sighed and rubbed her eyes. She had gathered all the news papers from the last few weeks and had been scanning over them for the last hour. Pushing back from the table she pressed her hands to her eyes. She'd come up with nothing new and now had the beginnings of a headache. Standing up from the table she stretched, trying to shake off the feeling that she was being watched, and reached for her purse. She needed coffee and to pick a few things up at her downtown apartment before she headed out to patrol for the bounties she currently had leads on. After putting the news papers away she left the library and headed downtown.

Glasica twisted her lip, having seen the only excitement since she sought refuge here and then it happens to leave. Licking her paw, she thought it over, unsure of what to do, but she knew she didn't want to stay here all night. Finally she decided. The sphinx climbed up higher, and slipped out of an old rusty vent.

Trey enters through the front doors and glances around,"Now where would i find a list of hunters hmmm?"He mutters to himself. Turning to the old man behind the counter he says,"Excuse me, but you wouldnt happen to have current information on the hunters would you?"

The old man looked up, incredulous. "...that information is for public use, accessible through any computer. We don't have computers with access to the internet here... Except for the mainframe." His hand waved a bit to his computer.

Trey nodded,"Can you run a search for me?"He asked."I can pay if nessacary."

The old man shrugged. "A dollar a page," he muttered, going to the computer.

A few minutes later, the printer started churning out pages-12 in all. Of just names and license numbers, the most popular being John or Jane Smith. Small print. "There are quite a few hunters in the city," the old man said, handing him the page. "If you want details and photo's it will take quite a bit longer."

Trey nodded and handed him a fifty,"Pictures then, and details please. I have all night, I can wait."He said leaning against the desk.

The old man went into the register and gave the guy his thirty-eight dollars in change. The total was going to come out to more than fifty, that was for sure, at a dollar a page. He had to wait a few minutes just for the page to load completely of the comprehensive list, and pressed 'print.'

"It'll take a while," he muttered, shuffling off. "Gonna go get more paper."

While the old man was gone, two civilians entered. One was in a tailored suit more more fitted than Trey's, and pretty expensive. He had a much taller friend who seemed to be a human tank of sorts, not quite as impressive as Twilight but still some kinda intimidating.

"Mr. Parnell, the old man doesn't seem to be in the immediate location," the (obviously) bodyguard muttered.

Mr. Parnell waved his hand. "We can wait. It would be rude for us to do otherwise." Both individuals ignored Trey, not giving a shit that there were other people in the library.

Trey tensed up and glanced around at the two new strangers,His left shoulder twitched a tiny bit, the shouder with the gun under it.

Parnell didn't even look. His obvious bodyguard's attention was drawn to Trey, almost calmly, in that sense of 'don't even fucking think about it.' Depending on how good Trey was, the man might be able to feel an extra set of eyes targeting him.

The old man took that moment to shuffle back, grumbling at the sight of the two new people. "Yeah?" he spat.

Mr. Parnell walked forward with a smooth motion, reaching into his jacket and pulling out an envelope. "A thank-you for prior services rendered," he purred, his smile not quite reaching his eyes. "And a request for further information. It will be well-compensated... and I do believe it behooves you to try."

Then he turned on his heels to walk towards the door, shoes clicking sharply on the floor.

Trey tensed up and then leaned against the counter,"So how much sir?"He asked the old man about his own info.

2009-10-21 [Aeolynn]: me too... just my brain isnt working well for rps tonight

2009-10-22 [Hiro Kitaki]: *tries to think*

2009-10-22 [kay-chan]: Nothing interesting really HAPPENS at the library unless other people are there, or there are questions to be asked the old man. He's there for information, and this can be used as a meeting spot. Other than that... yeah. It's a library.

2009-10-22 [Aeolynn]: Alright. She'll just make an appearance here, and I'll post somewhere else.

2009-10-26 [kay-chan]: CC: If you're going downtown, you might see the wonderful sight of a vampire carrying a pixie who is bleeding profusely from their neck through alleys.

2009-10-26 [Crankychangeling]: sweet.... ^_^

2009-10-27 [kay-chan]: You def. don't have to, but that's where the action is, unless you make your own, and you totes can.
