Aeres - Edward

Strong Bond

“Well, I’m taller than you.”

“We’re the same height, Edward.”

“Well… I weigh more.”

“Not always something to be proud of, fatass,” Aeres said flatly as her eyes narrowed dangerously. She crossed her arms over his chest tightly. Her left eye began to twitch—a hazardous sign indeed. Edward knew if he continued to push his sister further she would probably give him a swift kick to the jaw…. That did little to stop him. He had a mission to complete.

“…And,” he took a deep breath, his smile widening, sickeningly charming, “I look much, much, much younger.”

He didn’t even see it coming. Before he had time to react he felt a sudden explosion of pain on the side of his face and he was lying on the ground staring up at the blue sky above. He was a little amused to see birds flying about his head, but after a moment he deduced that they weren’t his imagination—they were outside and nature just didn’t seem to care much that the blond was laying on the ground near lapsing into a practically self-induced coma. He knew Aeres. He knew how she would react.

“Now who’s better? Hm? You just had to do that, didn’t you, you dumbass.” Aeres placed her hands at her hips and began to pace back and forth beside her nearly unconscious sibling. “Always pushing my buttons. Looking for a fight? Well, now, jackass, who’s sorry now? I’m still not sorry.”

“My head hurts.”

“Oh, yeah. Sorry, I forgot that I just punched you in the face.” Aeres snapped, turning back to give him a sharp kick in the side. Edward groaned and rolled away from her.

“That hurts your know.”

“Yeah? Well… shut up. I don’t care.”

Edward slowly, gingerly, got to his feet. His vision swam for a moment but he grinned bravely up at his pacing sister. She saw the grin and it took every ounce of her strength to not pummel her older brother back down to the ground. “Why are you grinning like that?’

“It took one annoying statement less than usual to get a reaction out of you.” Edward straightened, nodding.

“So?”

“Mean’s you’re guilty. Which means… you should say you’re sorry.” The blond slowly crossed his arms and his eyebrows rose, slowly allowing a grave expression to fixate on his usually expressive face. “You lied to me. You told me you didn’t like her. Then you went off on a date? Tsk, tsk, Aeres. You shouldn’t lie to your big brother.”

“Oh? What do you care? You didn’t even like her.”

Edward scoffed, “What? She’s my girlfriend… Was my girlfriend. I just found it entirely too strange that my girlfriend had the hots of my own sister.” He made a face and shuddered, “Sibling rivalry anyone?”

Aeres seemed to fight inwardly for a moment. Her face contorted in a look that seemed like she had eaten something that tasted absolutely revolting. Her hands shook at her sides and she was trying very hard to control her shaky breathing.

“I…”

“Aeres, it’s really fine. I just wanted you to admit that you liked her.”

“Who told you? Was it Trinity?” Aeres turned away again, crossing her arms tightly over her chest again and began to pace. “Besides, what would make you think that? I don’t like Muse.”

Edward rolled his eyes and sighed dramatically, “No, of course not. Taking her out to an expensive restaurant was just your way of annoying me.” Aeres stopped, turned her face towards her brother and scowled. “Look… it’s fine. The only reason I dated her was to get a reaction out of you.”

One black eyebrow arched dangerously, and Aeres’ lips formed a tight line. “What?” she said quietly, deathly so.

Edward swallowed and patted the air with his hands, “Now, now. I know you Aeres. You wouldn’t make the moves on anyone unless you felt threatened. Muse is a pretty girl… Big brown eyes, long brown hair… Great hips, really flexible, you should have—“

It was the second time he was laying flat on his back, staring up at fluttering birds ahead. Edward reached up slowly, delicately, to touch the bruise on the side of his face. It felt more like a lump than anything… Did he deserve it? Probably. Aeres didn’t like to be toyed with and he knew that… He just found it entirely too amusing that his little sister was in love with another woman. Then again—he really didn’t care. He was more into men anyways. Muse had simply been bait to get Aeres’s attention. It had, quite obviously, worked quite well.

“If you…” Aeres turned away, let out an annoyed noise and began to make strangling motions in the air. “I will kill you, Edward!”

“It’s not that, Aeres! Muse is a dancer. A great dancer… I don’t mean that kind of dancing.” He said quickly when Aeres’ turned back towards him and reeled back her leg ready to kick him. “Just…” He took in a deep breath and sat up, his palms raised up in surrender at his sister, “Go tell her how you feel. I can promise you it will end most wonderfully.”

Aeres swallowed thickly, looked away and then her gaze unwillingly returned to her brother. “So… You went out with her to try and get me to…”

“Express an emotion? Certainly. I wasn’t really looking for ‘filled-with-inexplicable-rage-going-to-punch-out-my-brother’ emotion… but if that’s the best I can get, then well… Mission success.”

Aeres sighed quietly before reaching out one hand. Edward eyed the hand suspiciously—he wasn’t entirely convinced that a truce had been called. Annoyed Aeres tilted her head, eye twitching, teeth grinding together as she once again shook her offered hand fiercely as if trying to convince Edward that the offer was still there. With a pained sigh Edward took the extended hand and his sister easily pulled him to his feet.

Aeres stood quietly, scowling fiercely down at the ground. After a moment she let out a soft sigh and her face melted into something that was actually rather attractive and not so hostile. Her gray eyes met her brothers, which mirrored hers in color, “Thank you, Edward. And… I’m sorry for punching you.”

“Twice.”

Aeres smirked slightly, “Don’t make me make it a third.”

Edward grinned back. It felt good to get some emotion out of Aeres. It was unhealthy for her to keep it all inside.

Then again, his sore face begged to differ.

A/N:Story bond 20/81 of a project I'm working on.

Well... wow, just wow. I knew that whatever I wrote they were going to be fighting--or at least Aeres would be mad and smacking Edward around. It's just the way she is.

Spoilers--Muse does end up marrying Aeres. Edward is a good wing man. Lol.

Yeah, so... anyways. I'm not so sure about this one. I guess I got to know how Aeres is always mad a lot more--it was annoying trying to provoke myself into getting mad so I could react in a way she probably would. I'm not a very angry person so trying to think like an angry person was a little difficult.

Edward is rather manipulative but he has a charming smile to hide behind. Usually he's manipulative for the betterment of others... he's one sneaky bastard.
