Chapter One: Alex and Emily!

Emily sat at the bus stop, she kept checking her watch every now and then, she huffed when she realised the bus should have been here ten minutes ago. She shuffeled a little, looking over at a group of chatting girls, cooing and giggling over an attractive young man close to them. She rolled her eyes, typical bloody blonde girls, she rather pessimistically thought.

Alessandra let out a long, drawn out breath, gazing down at the small bus schedule and map in her hand. Noticing a small red head already positioned at the bus stop, she slowed her pace, attempting to avoid confrontation for as long as possible.

Emily looked up to see Alessandra coming, she gave a half smile and looked back down. She rumaged in her bag for something as she saw the bus come. She grabbed out her bus pass and let out a rather disgrunteled sigh when she saw how packed the bus was.

Alessandra sunk her hands into her pockets as the bus came to a halt at the stop. She had only just arrived in the city and had yet to earn much money aside from the small savings she had brought with her. Empty!? She stepped onto the bus, still searching her front and back pockets. "How much?" She asked, as she had managed to find a small amount of fair.

Emily got onto the bus behind her. The bus drive turned to Alessandra and pointed to a sign that said 'bus fair £4.50'. Emily waited patiently, wondering if this girl didn't have enough money. She moistened her lips and tapped her on the shoulder, looking up at the tall girl. "Excuse but..I could give you some of my spare change if you need it"?

Alessandra look down at the money in her hand, then back at the girl behind her. £2.75 wasn't going to cut it. "I'd hate to be a burden," she said with a sheepish smile. So much for not having to walk, she thought.

"No it's alright..here". Emily smiled pleasently and got out her purse, she flipped it open and gave Alessandra the extra change she needed.

"Thanks," Alessandra replied slowly, accepting the money. She smiled slightly. This girl's kindness reminded her of her brother. But why would she-a complete stranger-be kind enough to offer me money? She was still getting used to the city and it's people, and the things they did would continue puzzle her. "Though, I may not be able to repay you just yet."

"No it's fine...really". Emily showed her bus pass to the drive and looked around. She saw one set of two seats empty, she walked over and sat down. Leaning her bag on the floor. She rumaged around in it looking for her psychology book so she could read it on the bus.

Alessandra sighed. The bus was full. "Looks like you're stuck with me," she laughed uneasily, taking the seat next to the red-headed girl. though, she already felt she had been enough of a bother.

"Oh...yeah". Emily smiled and looked down for a secound, she closed her boolk. "Hi...I'm Emily..but my friends call me Emz, well, they would if I had any". She laughed. "Are you in your secound year of College aswell"? She figured since they were catching the same bus and both looked the same age.

"Oh. I'm Alessandra, but call me Alex," she replied. "Well, I'm not from around here at all. Sort of..traveling, you could say."

"Oh wow where are you from Alex". Emilt leant on her palm and smiled at Alex, hs big and friendly.

Alex smiled. "Originally Florence, Italy," she said. "I've been traveling with my elder brother who recently moved here to England. But, I decided I was well over the age of someone who should dependant on family like that, so I packed up about six days ago and left. I've gotten to see much of the cities here. They're different from the places I've lived. It's nice."

"Wow, where are you staying". Emily looked out of the window for a secound, watching the world fly by. She went back to her new friend, hugging her bag slightly as a few people got off at the nex stop.

Alex shrugged, smiling sheepishly. At least the amount of people on the bus was lessening. Now she could breathe. "It's hard to say. I just got here recently."

"So..you don't have anywhere to stay". Emily raised an eyebrow and leant back in her seat. She studyed Alex's face, her long hair, she had a beauty Emily could only wish for.

"More or less," Alex said regretfully. She hadn't thought things through as well as she should have when she left. "Though, I told my brother I'd be staying with a friend at the college, but it was more on impulse than anything."

"You can stay with me and my mum if you like, she'd never see a friend of mine out on the streets". Emily rubbed Alex's shoulder as if to try and reassure her everything was going to be ok.

"I couldn't," Alex replied. "I'm already in debted to you and I'd hate to burden you further." As a child she was treated as a hassle;unwanted, and even now she viewed herself this way. Emily's level of kindness this day surprised her.

"You sound like one of those old fashioned women". Emily laughed. "Who are ruled by their husbands and apologise for stupid things". She kicked her bag down. "COme on, you can stay till you find your own place, we have a spare room since my brother moved out".

Alex's face flushed. She hadn't meant to sound old fashion. "I appreciate it," she said. "More than you know." She had planned to stay at a hotel upon arriving in this city, but had spent the majority of her money trying to get here.

Emily was about to talk when the bus came to a sudden grinding halt. She was flung forwards and fell onto the bus floor. People screamed as the tumbeled alogn with the bus, the bus did a 180 spin and drove onto the sidewalk, smacking into a wall. The windscreen smashes sending glass flying into the bus. Emily clutched her head, ducking to try and avoid anything.

Alex opened her eyes slowly from where she lay after being thrown to the floor. She cringed as she lifted herself from the ground, sharp pains splitting her sides. The lights flickered slightly and a small amount of smoke filled the air. "Emily?" She called, shakily looking about the mass of disgruntled people for her new friend.

Emily coughed and got up onto her knees, she winced as smoke blew into her eyes, she wofted it away with her hand. "Alex, are you ok"? She called out, she could hear the engine slowly dieing and the sparks of near by wires. Her eyes widened, they had to get out of there, what if the wires were live and hit the bus. She got up being hit around by people crawling out of the windows to escape.

"Fine, I guess," Alex said unsurely. "Just a little bruised." She pointed to her side that she had been holding with her left hand. Someone forced their way passed her. She groaned, turning around to searching for her bag that she had been caring with her cloths and belongings. People should learn how to handle themselves better in these kinds of situations. She grabbed her bag and pulled it gingerly to her shoulder. "We should go," She said quickly, realizing at the same time about the wires.

Emily nodded and grabbed onto Alex's arm. The door to the bus was missing and thus open. Emily struggeled out, having to jump yo reach the floor. She winced a little, limping, a cut on her leg causing it to feel raw and painful. She heard sirens coming from up the road. "What happened"? She rubbed her eyes and looked at the wheels of the bus, they were completely torn to shreds almost like claws and ripped through them.

Alex shook her head. "Looks like we hit something sharp?" She shifted her bag on her shoulder. She had never been in a car crash before, and this event would surely make her think twice before taking the public bus. Her head was pounding.

Emily looked back to the road, apart of blar tyre marks she couldn't see anything that would have ripped all foru wheels so. The sound of ambulances arriving caught her attnetion. Paramedics ran up to both of them and began to question and see if they were alright."I'm fine really, but there are more people inside the bus injured". She pointed to the reckage.

Alex nodded her head in agreement. She would live with just a few bruises, but there where others with more serious injuries. She let out a heavy sigh, wincing as the muscles in her side stretched from it. "Glad I decided to ride the bus," She said jokingly, trying to lighten the mood with a little sarcasm. She smiled halfly.

Having turned the corner onto the street just moments before, Dean stood frozen in shock. His hand instantly snapped to his mouth, his eyes wide and staring. "What the...?" Pushing his sunglasses from his eyes, brushing them back into his hair, he started towards the bus slowly. All he knew was that suddenly the vehicle was broken. Feeling utterly useless, he simply stared from the pavement near to the wreckage.

Emily smiled back as Alex."Yeah". She laughed nervously and winced as she touched a slight cut on her forehead. She dropped her bag and rummaged around for her compact mirror to see how bad it was. Her stuff went everywhere as he bag hit the floor. "Shit". She rushed around to pick it all up.

Alex kneeled down to help Emily gather her things that had strewn about. "You should have them look at those cuts," She said suggestively. "So they don't get infected, or anything."

Gazing at the array of people getting out of the bus, Dean snapped back to reality. Could I help? He wondered briefly, before starting towards the nearest pair - not any that appeared to be hurt seriously, he couldn't deal with that. Having initially started towards a young man, he paused and instead moved towards Emily and Alex - the two young girls. "Are you two okay?" he asked as he neared the pair.

Emily grabbed her stuff and and shoved it in her bag, holding it for Alex to also put her stuff into. She zipped it shut and looked up at Dean. "Oh no thankyou..we're alright". She got up, her head aching a little, she avoided the look of a paramedic. She breathed in sharply, as she was about to exhale an explosion sounded above them. She looked up in time to see shards of conerete building and ruble falling down towards the three of them. She narrowed her eyes for a minute, ignoring the rubble and instead staring at the strange dark figure stood ontop of the breaking building. It looked like some sort of deformed large monster, slashing at the building, breaking and sending bits off and down to the people below.

Unlike Emily, Dean was very concerned by the fact that rubble appeared to be about to land on the three of them. Panicked, he grabbed them by the wrists and tried to drag them from beneath it - completely ignorant of whatever Emily was staring at beyond it. "Come on!" He urged, before letting go of their wrists and thinking fuck it, and saving himself - though he had moved them a little.

Emily ran with him and tripped over, she tumbled to the floor and covered her head as the rubble smashed around them. It all missed her however luckily. She had her eyes closed tightly thinking she was a gonna.

Having made it out of the way in time, Dean had stumbled slightly, and nearly lost his footing. "You okay?" He asked, stooping slightly as he approached her. He kicked a few bits of rubble away from her - though none of it had hit her, some had come pretty close.

Emily slowly got up, she then turned back to the cracked building. "There was something there...something black..like a monster". She pointed and ran yup to the building charging inside of the dipadated building. It looked ready to break any second.

Dean raised his eyebrows, "Oh... Okay?" He wasn't sure what to say to this - being unintelligent, he had the vague thought that maybe monsters did exist and he had missed the news item. "Uhhmm... Well... It looks like it's gone now..." He smiled reasurringly.

"COME ON". Emily called bck pearing out the door, gesturing for Dean to follow her as she went inside. Ignoring the firemen and ambulance staff that rushed around them.

Glancing around uneasily, Dean followed her in. He looked pained at the thought of looking for whatever it was, but went after her nonetheless. "What do you think it really was?" He asked her, as he caught up. Pulling his sunglasses out of his hair, he hooked them onto his shirt - so he could at least see properly.

Emily looked back, her red hair bouncing around her face slightly. "I'm thinknig a demon". She answered, she was really into the occult so of course her instance reply would involved something supernatural. She began to step carfully as they came up to the brocken floor.

Dean coughed out the classic laugh of a non-believer. "A what?" He looked both amused, and scared at the same time. For all he knew, she could be right. In which case, why was he even in here!? He frowned, looking suddenly a lot more worried. He made a grab for her hand. "Then why are we chasing it!?"

Emily turned and looked down."Why not...dont you think it's exciting". Emily dragged him across the room, avoiding the breaking roof. She looked around for any signs, she stopped as she saw frou rather large claw scraps across the roof. Judging by the claw indents, the claws themseles would have had to have been atleast 4ft long.

Dean had been about to answer when he saw the claw marks, and started hyperventilating. "What the hell!?" He gasped, his hand over his mouth. "Was that a ..." He gulped, "Demon?" He coughed slightly, and followed her properly now.

Emily looked at him."Calm down..it's not here now". She shrugged, however a thudding behind them suggested otherwise. Emily slowly turned around and took a few steps back as she saw what looked like a black hulking mass of flesh with long clawed limps and rows of white teeth. ITs red eyes locked onto them both, saliva dripped down and onto the floor.

Dean's expression dropped to one of terror as he saw the beast. Shocked into silence, he struggled to even scream - this thing was horrific. He finally managed to move, after what felt like an eternity, and hide almost behind Emily.

Emily stood still, backing up and pushing Dean back with him as they moved away. The creature simply walked forwards again, getting closer and closer to them. "What...do we do"? Emily gulped hard, shacking all over.

Dean's breath was caught, but he managed to answer her after a second. Grabbing her arm, his survival instinct kicked in. "Window!?" They had a better hope of survival out of the window, surely? He stared around for the nearest.

Emily nodded and spun around, running to the window she opened it. She practically had a heart attack when she saw a small outer building beneath them, only a few feet below them. "Come on". She climbed out the window and held onto the ledge, leaving room for Dead. She looked back to see the animal charging at them.

Screaming now, like a girl - really, Dean leapt out of the window, to hell with the consequences. There was no way that he was going to let an animal - which looked horribly morphed - get to him. As he jumped from the window, he caught his leg on the edge and fell out top-first.

Emily was close behind him, she covered her eyes and fell flat out. As she fell she looked up. The creature had lunged and came through the window, however as soon as it hit the sunlight it burst into whisps of smoke and blew away. Emily fell and landed on her back, rolling to the side.

Dean landed in a similar way, but without the more skillful roll at the end. He opened his eyes to look up at the window, his breath coming in short bursts, and was shocked to see nothing there. "What the hell?" He asked, his words punctuated by heaving breaths.

Emily got up, wincing as she felt her muscles wince slightly. She looked over at Dean and crawled over to see if he was alright. "Like I said...Demon". She gestured by throwing her arms around.

Dean sat up slowly, frowning and nodding as she spoke. He poked around his ribs, as they felt quite tender, but he figured he was just bruised. "Okay.. I believe you... How do you know about this stuff?" He asked after a moment's thought.

"Well...I was just guessing really..I mean I read a lot of books on this kind thing and demons was the first thing thta came to my head". Emily moved and shifted so she was sitting. She looked up, the remainder of the smoke now disappearing.

Dean nodded, "Oh... Wow..." He stayed quiet on the subject of books - not being one for reading. After a few minutes, he stood up, and held out a hand for her. Glancing down, he saw that he had smashed his favourite sunglasses on the way down - with a pout, he unhooked them and shoved them in his pocket. "So... What now?" He asked - the thought of them separating ways never crossed his mind.

Emily took his hand and got up, trying to get her legs steayd as she did so. She looked down thinking. "Well....we can't just forget what we've seen today". She nodded. "I saw we investigate..check out back in the building...see if we can find anything".

Although he didn't really know what an investigation entailed, Dean nodded. "Yeah okay... Oh! I'm Dean by the way... Deangelo..." He held out his hand again, smiling slightly - he knew how to introduce with a smile.

"Emily...". Emily held out her hand to him and shook it, she then grinned and clapped her hands together."Looks like we're partners now". She grinned and looked back up at the window, she climbed back in, minding not to hit the brocken glass.

Dean gave a nervous laugh, but seemed to agree - by the looks of his smile anyway. Watching her as she went in, he smiled, then followed her back through the window. "What if it comes back...?" He suddenly asked, dusting the remains of the dusty glass from his designer clothes (which, he suddenly though, were now ruined).
