EOD NORTH SPRAWL
The North Sprawl is a lot less populated than the South one, with larger tents more sparsely separated, but less actual shack and constructions. The sprawl itself is the main enclave of the MLA, with a population made up almost entirely of militants, in one way or another. The ratio also favors mutants 2 to 1 over regular humans, and everyone is always heavily armed. Unlike the south sprawl, where people can move in and out freely and merchants are welcome, one cannot simply walk into the North. On the south, the sprawl is flanked by the wall, whereas on the other sides, massive ruble from the fallen NY city makes a near impassable barrier. To the north, a massive tent complex serves as the command center for the MLA, and to the southeast, an old, heavily guarded manhole cover leads to the MLA armory. The very center of the North Sprawl is a large, fenced courtyard where militants train and every night, brutal mutant on mutant fights are hosted.
X-Men EoD Time
Wednesday, August 13th
EoD Warp's Shack door swung open as the 28 year old militant emerged into the day light. His grey faded vest caught the breeze that danced across the field of the Northern sprawl.
Justin immediately fished his flask from his pocket taking his first swig of the day, his hand wandering to his eye in order to adjust to the bright contrast from his shack. "Hmm i need to get some more whiskey, or maybe vodka. I need to go check out the fights to, might do some good scrap with someone, its been a week." His eyes scanned the field wanting to see if any other MLA where out yet. To his eye only the MLA combatants and suppliers were around. He made his way across the field to a set of tents that lined the wall. "Yo Jack, is there any whiskey left in the tent?"
An older man with graying hair yet fit physic looked up from the gun he was polishing. His camo jacket hung from one of the tent stakes. His eyes showed experience beyond years of simple life, yet his smile never wavered. "I might have a few fifths left boy." Jack wasn't a trader or vendor but he was a man that could get spirits, for a price. "A guy was able to get his hands on some ol fashioned shine if your interested."
Justin straightened up a bit when he heard this. "Where in the hell did he find moonshine around here?" his head cocked to the side a bit quizzically.
Jack chuckled, "Says theres some ol fool running a stil somewhere in the sprawl. Sounds like an invitation to get kilt over if you ask me, but i aint about to question good spirit."
"Fill up my flask there Jack, i havent had good shine since i was a young punk down in North carolina."
Justin handed over his trusted flask without hesitation, but faultered a bit when he realized what he had said.
North Carolina, man that seems like a hundred years ago... how did things turn out like this? His mind went back, back to his home his family. Thats when the familiar anger flamed up putting the fire back in him. He was here, waging a war for the ones he loved. He snapped back to this day and age. "I got ya Jack, bet on me in the pit ill win ya a fight as payment."
Jack nodded in understanding, that's how they had worked for the last few years. Jack provided his alcohol and he put his body in the line in the fights. He had lost a few times but his win ratio high enough to get his fix. He filled the flask from one of the mason jars that where nested away under his mat in a cooler sized hole in the ground.
Justin took a first swig to test the brew. His eyes rolled back as he quickly let out a rough huff. "Lord, who ever made this knew what they were doing, the fumes could get a person drunk." he took a another big swig before stowing the flask away and setting off to
EoD Boneyard.
Lucas squinted his eyes as the sun hit his face. He began to make his way to the wall, edging around the makeshift buildings, intending on meeting with some traders be they awake yet. However he heard the sound of fighting from across the way, in
EoD Boneyard. He wondered what idiots were taking chunks out of each other now, intending to investigate and making his way over there.
The Rook left the Boneyard, opening the jug of water and taking a drink as he passed through to the
EoD The Wall.
Lucas appeared out of the Boneyard, walking swiftly around the tents, weaving his way in and out. There weren't many people around, most of them either sleeping off a hangover or off raiding the wasteland, or down in the South. But he persevered in search of someone. He spotted a little boy sitting on the ground, moving a stick through the dirt. He was dressed in rags, long black hair falling just short of his shoulders. As Lucas approached, the boy looked up, his eyes widening as if terrified. Lucas, kneeling down next to the child, said softly, "I want you to do something for me. Find the mutant planning the raid on the company generator, tell him I want to see him at the scrap heap, now." Lucas stood, looking down at the boy and nodding for him to leave. The boy left promptly, moving quickly with a small scaled prehensile tail waving behind him. Lucas watched him leave, then making his way back to
EoD The Scrap Heap.
Finally all dressed and ready to take on the day, though much later than many of her comrades,
Shana stepped out of her little shack near the Wall, her silver hair glinting in the bright sunlight. The newfound breeze effectively cooled the girl down, and she raised her arms in the air to stretch. With a huge sigh, Shana let her arms fall to her side again, and began walking forward, her eyes scanning the area from side to side. Even inside the walls, the girl was always on the lookout and wary of attack, especially with all the action-loving mutants that hung around inside the North Sprawl. It wasn't a terribly long walk to
EoD The Wall.
Lucas came out of the scrap heap, taking a look around. Well his fellow mutants wouldn't be in the Boneyard after being there this morning, and he doubted they went back to their residences, he took an educated guess and headed towards the
EoD The Wall.
After getting past the guards at the wall, Lucas walked quickly to the
EoD Boneyard, his temper still high.
"Im going to train a bit in the boneyard until everyone decides pull their panties out of their asses."
Justin sighed to himself after the recent fiasco in the diner. Its true that not everyone in or associated with the MLA got along but at east they all had a common goal and that's all that mattered to him. "Fucking government." As he walked he stared at his gauntlet, memories flashing through his mind on an endless loop, reminding him of the reason he fought and the pain he drinks away every day.
Mom.... dad.... my sister. and the only woman i ever loved.... a tear drop fell on his metal plated glove, confusing him for a moment before he realized it was his own. He shook his head violently throwing off the bad memories and continued on to
EoD Boneyard.
A few moments after Justin passed through,
The Rook entered the area and paused to turn and look at Daniela. He had been fortunate enough to befriend the girl years ago, and now he felt obliged to do the chivalrous thing. "Should I turn around and cut their fingers off?" he questioned blandly, hoping she recognized the protectively instinctual question for what it was.
Shield walked into the North Sprawl from
EoD The Wall right next to Rook. Suddenly, he stopped and turned around, asking if he should go and maim the other MLA soldiers. The girl couldn't contain a hearty laugh and put her hand on her stomach as she tussled Rook's hair, much like she used to do 9 years ago in the mansion. "That's ok. You can't go maiming every guy who looks at us girls funny." she added with a big grin. "I could've handled them myself." she then added, putting her hand on her hip and winking at the boy. "But thanks, that was sweet of you." she added, giving the boy a tiny kiss on the cheek and then headed quickly to the
EoD Boneyard, "C'mon then kiddo!"
The Rook's face flamed as Dani pecked his cheek. He touched the spot, holding it for a moment, staring after her until he realized he was falling behind. Moving his feet, he followed her to the
EoD Boneyard.
The bag in her hand crinkled as
Halo came to pause after entering the more militant half of what used to be Central Park. She slipped the code-bearing paper back into her pocket before proceeding at a much more leisurely pace. If Lucas and Shana weren't meeting at the Command Tent, she'd have taken her meager collection of provisions there, but Shield has stated that she was to meet at the Boneyard, and there was likely some underfed souls there to whom she could give them.
Shana came from the wall merely a few minutes behind Halo, considering the taller girl was walking at a much faster paced than she. In her hand was still her bagged lunch, and she carried it across the expanse of the sprawl to the other end, where the
EoD Boneyard lay, and behind it the Command Tent.
Without anything better to do,
Halo proceeded onward into
EoD Boneyard after Shana breezed past.
Justin trudged his way across the sprawl on his way to
EoD The Scrap Heap.
The Rook followed right behind Justin, straight to
EoD The Scrap Heap.
Coming back out the door again,
The Rook slowed and waited for Justin. "I do not trust them," he muttered towards Warp, ignoring that he had just exited the place where they were normally congregated. "And we need to do this quickly. Get in, get out. I do not want to have to kill anyone."
"Yeah lets hit the armory, i didn't necessarily say the fire power was for the military, I have been around the freaks before some of them you can trust but they don't have any sense, others..."
Justin trailed off heading towards
EoD MLA Armory. Yeah lets get there port the generator out and get this done. I don't like how its just us and the Freaks."
Easily keeping up, even on his shorter legs,
The Rook kept one eye on their path and the other on Warp. "The only good thing is that it is not just you and them. I have a built in protection system if any of them decide that we are expendable." He pushed open the entrance to
EoD MLA Armory, determined to get this done and over with.
Justin Patted down the unfamiliar outline of the gun on the inside of his vest. He had used guns back when he was younger, having been hunting and to the gun range with his dad. When on previous trips he had carried on a few but they where always in a side holster, he had lost that in a scuffle a few weeks back. He didn't look to his side, knowing Rook was keeping stride as he approached
EoD The Wall.
The Rook didn't hesitate to check that his weapons were in place while he walked with Justin to
EoD The Wall.
Coming from the Boneyard,
Shana marched the long distance across the dried ground of the north sprawl to the
EoD MLA Armory, stopping just before she entered to be sure Halo was behind her.
Halo calmly followed about two steps behind Shana, looking almost as if she were simply going for a walk rather than getting ready and gearing-up for a mission. She cocked her head slightly and raised her eyebrows up as if to say
hmmm? when Shana paused, and followed her into the
EoD MLA Armory.
