Examples of Word Use

Here follows some good, basic examples of spell casting...
This is not a collection of ALL the spells! These are just some basic examples. Again I will state, your imagination is the limit.

[Mira Ravenheart]

Water:

Guide Water: “Ràhaen Rehnāhi” ~ This is most common for those who take to water magic. Sadly, it is VERY difficult to just summon water from the air, so we must do with guiding it. It really is rather helpful *evil giggle* (humans are 75% water, btw), the possibilities are endless.

Summon Water: “Zhra Rehnāhi” ~ What the title says. This is a VERY difficult spell! It has to be moist already to summon the water from the air or from the earth. You cannot just create water.

Freeze Water: “Tael Rehnāhi” ~ I think this is pretty self explanatory. You have water, and you freeze it. You must already have the water.

Melt Ice: “Nyenn taerehnāl” ~ You melt the ice. Need I say more?

Fire:

Summon Flame: “Zhra Tyris” ~ How to make a flaming arrow, how to start a forest fire, how to set a fire in your kindling… the options are near endless with this one.

Guide flame: “Ràhaen Tyris” ~ If you already have a fire and want it to do something, this could be what you want. It takes far less energy than to actually summon the flame.

Warm: “Nyen”or “Tyrin nyen” ~ Cold? Here’s your solution.

Erupt a Volcano: “Tyrin vlyàn ahnos Nāntring” ~ This is very hard and very drastic. It could kill off a country… or an army.

Shield of Flame: “Fōth’Tyris” ~ People can’t walk through fire, it’s a known fact, so this can be useful. On the other hand, depending how strong the spell is (and thus how hot the fire is) someone could shoot an arrow through it or launch a throwing dagger aimed at your head…

Earth:

Earthquake: “Gnartuîn” or “Ringāl’tuîn” ~ You cause a natural disaster. This is usually small and in a condensed place. An example of why one would use this spell would be to knock down a building, or even something as small as to knock down an enemy (or at least unbalance them).

Earth rise: “Tringāl iven” ~ The earth rises up and swallows someone or something.

Earth Fissure: “Tringāl thýar” ~ Create a gash (or fissure) in the earth, the ground beneath your feet would open up. The size and depth of the fissure depend on you. To close such a fissure, one would then murmur “Tanzher”, or "Vlyàn" if you want to be violent about it.

Earth Release: “Tringāl Làhn” ~ release the bonds of the earth and it will churn/”melt” turning into magma and consume large armies or even buildings.

Air/Wind

You can do just about anything if you know how to use this element.

Summon Wind: “Zhra Nâym” ~ Excite the air and draw it past you swiftly. You create a wind. Its uses can be questionable, but it’s nice for a sailor to know this one. I’m sure you guys (and girls) will figure something out.

Guide wind: “Ràhaen Nâym” ~ If there is already a wind, you can condense, strengthen it, or even change it’s direction.

Guide: “Nynâm ràhaen” (Air Guide) ~ You can use air to guide fire or water at times along with some other objects, but you may want to use more specific spells if you can.

Summon Storm: “Zhra notyhr” ~ Clouds gather overhead, the intensity of the storm is determined by your power.

Shield: “Foth” ~ Use air to create a shield before or around you. The strength of this shield depends grandly on your strength. Once you cast it, the shield shall there remain until you say “Ànden”. It won’t sap your strength while it remains there.

Freeze/STOP: “Tainhen!” ~ The air all around that-which-has-been-stopped hardens, making it impossible for them or it to move.

Summon “object”: “Zhara –place object here–” ~ The air moves around an object to bring it to you, this happens subconsciously though as you will the object to yourself. You may have to know the name of the object in the ancient tongue, but most oft you don’t. [There are two types of summoning spells. This first one is physical movement. Basically the object floats over to you, not disappearing.]

Other

Invisiblity: "Vuen là" (see not) or "Lievã Fōth’a" (light sheild) ~ If you wrap light around yourself then you are not seen, it's like you are not there. People cannot see you, but people can still hear you, or run into you. (Modesitt's wonderful idea)

Summon: "Zhra" ~ Used to summon something from very far away, like teleportation, this is harder to use than the other summon spell. [Teleportation Summoning]
