In the ancient times, just as now, femehans lived in leaf tree forests. Mountains rose above them, leaving

valleys in between.

The lands were fertile and other creatures seldom bothered the intelligent and peaceful femehans who lived here

in this promised land.

In the beginning, all femehans were the same.

Fourteen of them there were. Their skins were dark magenta, their hair red and their eyes violet. Yet they all

were different, for they had distinct and unique personalities.

They lived together in the forest, learning and aging. Yet they remained young, for the first femehans were

immortal, though unable to reproduce.

Near to the femehans' home there was a place of reverence. Every fourth week, every frindo they went there and paid their respects to the galanfetzcan known as Tiiomagao for ey acted as their link to the Spirit Plane and lended eir aid when it was most needed.

They sang a song in Tiiomagao's honor and left em an item one of them had made.

Even though Tiiomagao was not always there to receive the item, it always disappeard within two days of leaving it.

No one ever saw whether it was Tiiomagao who took it when ey did not directly take it.

Ey often returned the item, frequently accompanied by a note. Sometimes ey gave back improvement suggestions. Rarely ey kept the item for emself.

When Tiiomagao did present emself, ey rose from behind eir cliff edge as if flying. A few times ey rode an airship.

The femehans revered em like a deity. Khirijeel Tiiomagao Hoojatevvelki they called em, Far-Walker Tiiomagao the Caller of Gods.

Ey was tall, taller than any galanfetzcan of today and at least as tall as the femehans. Eir skin was dark violet, eir eyes blue as the sky and eir form beautiful.
By eir mind, ey was wise, intelligent and fairs. Ey never mistreated the femehans and alwayshelped them to solve the problems they could not overcome by themselves.

Ey often told how ey had made the femehans. Why ey retold it again and again they did not know, but evidently ey did not want them to forget.

"I gathered several materials and parts and assembled you, a little like you build the items you make for me. After I was done, you had bodies, but you did not yet live. Therefore, I gave you each aspects of my spirit, enduing you with spirits of your own."

"Now I only want you to grow and cherish those spirits, for they are the dearest thing that you can have; a mind of your own. I would only like you to live happily in peace and tell me, should there be any distress in your lives."

Even though they could not have children, they were not unhappy, for they knew not of any better and they had each other. They were happy together and there never was a fight bad enough to hurt them.

One time Anni found two injured animals in the forest and nursed them back to health. They were cute and fluffy and the femehans liked them and called them tuuhis.

Wage had noticed pretty flowers growing just outside eir house, so ey fence the little area and watched them grow.

An was interested in these noticeable life-forms—they were clearly distinct from everything else they saw. Ey studied them meticulously. An was puzzled as to why more flowers kept on growing. Some of the old ones shriveled and died.

However, the real shock came when the two fluffy tuuhis gave birth to a litter or tiny tuuhis.

"The tuuhis multiplied! They created more animals like themselves out of nowhere! They reproduced!"

"Do all things do it?" Do the trees reproduce?" "How about insects?" Geniwa: "Can we reproduce as well?" Wa: "Can we create new femehans?"

The femehans started conducting studies. They looked for distinct plants an animals in the forest, caught them and waited to see if they would reproduce. Not all of them did.

However, those beings that did reproduce were enough to convince the femehans that they wanted to try it as well.

The day of Tiiomagao's praisal was near and the femehans decided that they would present one family of tuuhis as their "item" for Tiiomagao and ask em if they could be given the ability to reproduce as well—they had not found out any way in which they could spawn new femehans.

"Immortal beings do not need to reproduce. In order to be able to reproduce, you must give up your immortality, grow old and die when it is your time. Your heritage, mental and physical, will live on in your offspring. If you still want to be able to reproduce, tell me how you want to do it and I shall give this ability to you."

Geniwa: I want to reproduce in all possible ways!

"Compassionate, friendly, moody, trusting and nimble Wage, how do you want to reproduce?"
Wage: I want to carry children and give them for others to carry!

"Plotting, possessive, passionate, longing and short Ge, how do you want to reproduce?"
Ge: I want to carry children and be able to feed them!

"Logical, physical, proud, realistic and tall Gewa, how do you want to reproduce?"

When the femehans woke up, Tiiomagao was gone and they all had changed. They all were now of different colors. Their bodies had grown more different. They had new body parts.

Even An had changed. Color and deepness had left eir skin, hair and eyes and eir body had shriveled. When ey woke up, ey shouted out in terror.

"It's too much! Make it stop! Leave me alone! Be quiet!" "Be quiet!" "Be quiet!" "Be quiet..."

The others took An back home and treated and consoled em for a week.

One of them always kept an eye on em while the others explored what their changed bodies could do.

When An finally recovered, ey managed to smile. Ey too started discovering the new potential Tiiomagao had given to eir mind.

Weeks and months went by. Those who had said they wanted to carry children had gotten pregnant and their bellies swelled.

Wa was the first one to give birth. They had by now seen how animals gave birth, but the experience was still intensive, painful, frustrating, tear-filled and—in the end—fulfilling. Wa was left in bad condition, however.

The next time they went to pay their respects to Tiiomagao, they brought the child Wa had birthed and presented em as their creation for Tiiomagao.

Tiiomagao appeared and came all the way to look at the child. Wa was too weak to carry it.
