Flouresce - Amethyst

Good Bond

He wasn’t alone very often. He didn’t like being alone, it made him feel inadequate—forgotten… unloved. Amethyst continued down the hallway, moving in a way that showed he was in quite a hurry to get somewhere—but the fact of the matter was, Amethyst had no idea where he was going. He was just searching for someone. Desperately. It did not show in his face how terribly uncomfortable he was, but on the inside he was a mess.

Suddenly Amethyst realized that he could hear the cheerful flutter of piano keys. He gently placed his hand against the music room door and pushed it open slightly. The music became louder and Amethyst smiled. He silently stepped in and closed the door behind himself, leaning against it.

He wasn’t very surprised to see that the pianist was his eldest sister, Flouresce. Her back was to him and he could only see her fluttering fingers and enthusiastic swaying—her crimson locks danced across her back from her tight pony tails with each movement she made. It was a rather amusing scene.

The song apparently finished, Flouresce let out a satisfied sigh and leaned back.

“You’re getting better.” Amethyst called quietly.

The Elf jumped and her hands slammed down on the keys, emitting a terrible groan from the piano. She turned around—wide-eyed. “Holy shit, Amethyst. You scared the hell out of me.”

Amethyst snorted with laughter, dropping his head down to try and hide his grin. His long white wavy locks shifted over his face. “I’m sorry, I’ve been standing here for awhile. I wasn’t trying to scare you.”

Flouresce sniffed and turned away, crossing her arms. “You better not have been. I don’t need another little prankster. Between Ed, Vyse and Scout I can handle about all I can with sneaking and scaring.”

“No, I imagine not.” Amethyst pushed himself off the wall and moved to sit next to his sister on the piano bench. Arms still crossed tightly across her chest she looked at him doubtfully. He reached out, beautiful, elegant fingers ghosting over the top of the keys, but not pressing any of them down. He had watched Yami play the piano quite often, but he had never asked if his father would teach him. It wasn’t that he didn’t have the desire, he just wasn’t sure he had the confidence.

“Here, like this.” Flouresce unfolded her arms and reached out to take Amethyst’s wrists and placed his hands properly over the keys, “Like that. Good thing you have proper posture. Dad was always having to correct me. He said he didn’t want me playing all slouched since it’d hurt my back. But have you seen him play? He’s not exactly mister ‘Perfect Posture’ himself.”

Amethyst sat quietly, not moving his hands from where they had been placed. His lips were parted slightly, his violet eyes staring hard at his hands.

“Do you want to play something, Amethyst?” she questioned, raising an eyebrow at him. Amethyst looked at her quickly, seemingly rather surprised and anxious with the thought. Flouresce laughed, “What? Come on, you’ll be great. Watch.” She reached over and placed her hands over the top of his. “We’ll start simple, okay? Just pay attention.”

Her fingers pressed down his, and he was a little surprised that the simple tune was actually rather pleasing. After her fingers guided his she lifted her hands, nodding encouragingly at him. Tentatively, as if a little embarrassed, Amethyst slowly followed her example.

“Yeah, that’s it, Ammy. I think you have a knack for the piano. You should really start taking lessons. I tried teaching Christine once… Wow, that was a disaster. That girl can’t remember four strokes in a row for the life of her. “

“I think her voice makes up for it.” Amethyst said quietly, almost defensively for his big sister.

“Oh, yeah. Most definitely. She has one of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard. She just… can’t play the piano to save her life.” Flouresce laughed, reaching around her youngest brother and pulled him into a half hug. “You, on the other hand, show some potential. Any interest?”

Reluctantly Amethyst let his hands slide away from the keys and he quickly reassured his mind that he knew where his hands should go again, and what keys should be pressed to emit the short tune his sister had taught him. He thought for a moment. “Yes, I think I would like that.” It would give him an excuse to be in someone’s presence… and Flouresce seemed genuinely interested in teaching him.

The amethyst-eyed man smiled to his sister and she grinned back, “Wanna start now?” she asked, her grin wide and she nodded quickly, encouragingly.

Amethyst flushed slightly before he nodded, lifting his hands up exactly how she had placed them before.

Flouresce was quite positive Amethyst would be a very impressive pupil.

A/N: 12/81 story bonds complete.

I actually re-did this bond. It started out in a completely different way, but I erased all of it but the first paragraph and started again with a new idea. I like this idea better than the other one.

Amethyst, I guess, gets really anxious and panic-stricken when he's not around people. He's... a people-person. Because in his former life he was the first angel in Heaven, he is very use to being around others... so he is unconsciously still really... needy.

Flouresce plays the piano because Yami taught her. 'nuff said about that

I also find it hilarious that Flouresce is 6'1" and the oldest, and Amethyst is 6'1" and the youngest. In this version I don't think I mentioned their height... -can't remember- I was very distracted writing this. XD;
