Flouresce - Christine

Good Bond

Christine’s voice rose higher to hit notes that seem impossible for any mortal to hold so perfectly, but perfectly she did. It was a strong melody, gentle, flowing, slowly building up and letting her voice rise and fall in a way that seemed entirely too beautiful.

As she sang, her hands, weak and slightly trembling, where clasped over her heart. Her face was tilted up slightly with eyes closed, and the light of the sleepy morning sun shone through the stain-glass windows, leaving strangely angelic patterns across her body. It seemed so surreal hearing such a powerful voice projecting from the frail, ailing woman.

As the last words of the song left her lips, Christine’s eyes slowly fluttered opened—bright, gold-orbs that shone like the winter moon, greeted the world. The melody vibrated one final time against the church walls until the room fell into silence again. Slowly, she dropped her hands from over her heart, but she was smiling gently. She loved the church… It was always so peaceful.

The gentle tapping of heels alerted the white-haired woman and she turned, blinking widely at the one who entered—her slight quizzical look slowly became gentle and a sincere smile stole her lips, “Good morning, Flouresce.” Christine greeted, nodding to her sister.

“Hey, Christine.” Flouresce called, nodding back. The elf’s crimson locks were tied off to one side where they flowed over her left shoulder in what seemed like a wave of fire. “You sound so beautiful, as always. I wish I could hear you sing more. It’s so… calming.”

Christine blushed lightly and one hand raised to cover her embarrassed smile, “Oh, you think so? Thank you, Flouresce. I would love sing for you whenever you wish.” Suddenly, her hands raised again to clasp over her chest and her eyes became slightly distant for a moment.

Flouresce knew not to disturb her—Christine was a Seer. Often she was shown images—usually just fleeting images filled with emotions and more often than not, terrible fates. It was why she was so sickly all of the time… the fate of others gave her pain—most likely because she was forbidden to tell the destiny of any she saw. It must be terrible knowing how everyone around her was going to suffer and not be able to stop it.

“Ooh…” Christine let out a soft noise, swaying slightly and she rested one hand over her eyes. Flouresce reached out quickly to steady her, but after a moment brought her younger sister to one of the pews and allowed her to sit and recover. The white-haired woman sighed softly.

“Will you be all right?” Flouresce questioned quietly, kneeling in front of the other woman.

Gently, her hands trembling from the weakness that always claimed her, Christine reached out to take both sides of her sisters face and tenderly ran her fingers through the red-flaming hair. She was smiling gently and tears glistened in her eyes—and despite how badly she wanted to tell Flouresce about the vision she had just endured, she could not. The haunting look in her eyes was evidence enough, however, that what she had seen was not pleasant.

“I’m sorry, Christine.” Flouresce said and placed her hands over her sisters. “I’m really sorry…”

Flouresce wasn’t afraid that the vision had been about herself—it was a fear she had long grown out of being around the younger woman. For awhile Flouresce had feared the Seer, but eventually, as any good sister, Flouresce had learned to take the bad with the good. Christine shouldn’t be avoided like some cursed child, but instead comforted in times like these.

At first, Christine had been confused and had spoken of what she had seen when she was a child, but unfortunately that had cost mass panic. People grew hysterical when a Seer gave a prophecy of death. Christine had learned quite quickly that she could not tell those of the vision she saw—whether they were ill-fated or not. It was often a terrible gift, and she suffered much like her biological sister Trinity, who could hear the thoughts of others. Two had inherited unique and questionable ‘gifts’ from their mother.

“Christine?”

It wasn’t often that Christine thought of her mother—despite the fact that she carried a locket around her neck with the only picture of the beautiful-white-haired woman she had. Yet, when she did think about her, her fingers always somehow found the chain hanging around her neck with the locket safely hidden under her clothing. Christine quickly released the chain and it slipped back beneath her dress.

“I’m sorry, Flouresce. May we go outside?”

Flouresce smiled gently and stood, helping her sister stand as well. Christine may be beautiful, but the way she trembled when she walked or the tired look in her eyes that followed her after a vision always seemed to make her look much older than she was.

Christine often wandered about with a hauntingly beautiful look to her—almost like some lost soul trying so hard to find their way back to somewhere important…

Almost like a fallen angel, trying to find Heaven again.

A/N: Story bond 10/81 for a project I'm working on.

It really took me awhile to think of something in common that these two have, and when I really thought hard about it, they really don't have much in common... but because Christine is so likable, and Flouresce is so motherly, they just... connect...

Christine's mother is an angel which is why she is 'gifted' with her ability to see others future. Those details I'm still working out, but I don't think her mother will ever come around again. I'm pretty sure the goddesses forbade her to see her children anymore--as terrible as that may sound. It's was forbidden for a reason for an angel and mortal to hook up--you get kids with really strange 'gifts'. So...yeah..

Flouresce... has a soft side, especially for her more gentle and kind-hearted siblings. Being the eldest of 13 kind of gives you a lot of personalities, I would think
