In the beginning...

There is a town. It sits quietly on the edge of the field. There are chickens in the yard. And a bubbling brook. The sun lies low against the ancient mountains. The mountains create an ark from north east. On the west is a forest and south fields. From the forest path comes ridding a man. He has a shield on his back and a blood stained sword in his scabbard. A small dragon sits on his shoulder. The towns’ people stop and stare at this warrior. He looks at them weakly and collapses.

When he wakes up he is in a darkened room. A boy hurries up to his bed. The man reaches out and grabs him before he can run for help.
'What’s your name boy?' asks the warrior
'Faust.'
'Faust? A good strong name. You know I’m not going to live much longer don't you?'
'Your delirious, you need help.'
'Listen to me boy. I'll be dead before help comes and there are things i have yet to say.'
Faust swallowed and listened.
'My name is Macar. I came from the west beyond the forest of Kelewan, over the Desert of Gorando and through the Jungle of Orne. I am part of the order of Mort. We where the guardians of the sacred seals. With all five you can enter the temple of Lumbule.
We have been pursued by the servants of Morna. He wants to assemble the seal and enter the temple. He must be stopped, you must stop him.
Can you whistle?'
'Yes,' answered Faust.
'Then take this. It is the talisman of my familiar. When you whistle Orion will answer your call. Here is my part of the seal. Keep it secret, keep it safe. And promise me. Alpha to Omega, you won't give in.'
'Alpha to what?'
'Promise me, Alpha to Omega.'
'Alpha to Omega.'
'Thank you. And when your time comes and you begin your quest you will reunite the Order. And now i can die safe in the knowledge that you will finish my quest.'
Macar closed his eyes, put his hand on his heart and died.

'Mother?' asked Faust as they sat down to eat, 'What does Alpha to Omega mean?'
'It’s an old promise. It means from begining to end. To break an Alpha to Omega Promise is to do the unthinkable.'

Time moves on and on the morning of Faust's fifteenth birthday things begin to happen...
